Chapter 87 - [73] The First General

"What do you want?"

Kokabiels's question broadened Otto's smile.

He thought he'd have to explain some things to him, but it seemed like it wasn't necessary now.

"What do I want? what I want is you, Kokabiel" Otto replied.

"What?" Kokabiel was confused by Otto's sudden claim.

Before he could ask why, a red feather slowly dropped in front of his eyes, sending him into a hypnotic daze.

After a few seconds, Kokabiel gasped lowly for air and dropped to his knees. Cold sweat ran down his body as he remembered the sight he had just seen.

Endless war and bloodshed caused by some sort of extraterrestrial being.

For most, they would have been sacred after seeing such a sight, but for Kokabiel...he couldn't help but smile.

The thrill he felt when he was so close to the war he wanted, to fight endless mobs and fight powerful opponents.

"Like what you saw? the scene that you saw will be coming very soon" Otto commented.

Hearing his words, Kokabiels grin grew even bigger.

"And what does that have to do with me?" Otto said that he wanted him, but for what? What role did he have in this?

"You're going to be my slave~" Otto answered.

"Slave?" Kokabiel's eyes widened in surprise.

"Yes, my slave~. I'm going to send your worthless life to fight wars for me" Otto's eyes glowed as he peered into Kokabiels own.

Kokabiels spine shivered at the thought. To be sent out to fight, endless bloodshed left in his wake.

"So, Kokabiel the fallen, become mine and I shall give you what you want" Golden chains and gears manifested around both of them. All of the chains wrapped around Kokabiels body.

"Become my General!" Otto proclaimed as the golden chains brightened.

 "Do you accept?" Otto asked.

"...I Accept" Kokabiel answered.

"Ahhhhhhhhrgggrhsgahjdbjkcnefbhdljkcdsjcdsjbhd!!!!" Kokabiel screamed as the chains began to burn onto his skin.

After a few seconds the chains let go, revealing the scorching scars that were marked on him, symbolizing the freedom that had been willingly given away; the mark of a slave.

But besides the burning scars in the shape of chains, another feeling shifted around inside of him.

It was...foreign.

Otto's smile grew twisted as his small experiment seemed to have worked.

As a Honkai Impact 3rd player, he had obviously played the other famous game made by Mihoyo, Honkai Star Rail.

The power system game-wise was pretty good and straightforward. You had a certain path like the Nihility, the Hunt, or the Preservation, and depending on what path the character was on, the abilities of the unit would differ but stay consistent with the theme.

but lore-wise...it was confusing.

Some used technology, some used some sort of magic that was never explained on how it worked, and racial abilities that could only be used by a few, it was quite confusing for Otto.

But, there was one power system, Lore-Wise, in HSR that made sense.

The Paths and it's Heralds.

An Aeon and it's Emenator.

Otto's Herrshers powers are basically the same as an Aeon's, conceptual-wise that is.

"Rise, Kokabiel. Emenator of The Binding!"

Oh how Otto was enjoying this moment, a perfect pawn to throw at anything that stands in his way.

One that wouldn't hesitate to throw his life in battle if Otto ordered to do so.

Kokabiel did as instructed and rose to his feet, excited for what was to come. His master's promise for war has his blood pumping already.

Otto obviously noticed it and chuckled, but he soon realized that he had forgotten something. Reaching out to Kokabiel, he pierced his finger through his skull.

Kokabiel couldn't even react before his eyes rolled back to his head.

"Annnnnnnd that it!" Otto quickly pulled out his finger from, Kokabiels skull, the gaping hole that was left behind quickly healed.

But that wasn't all, Kokabiel's body began to wriggle around as it shifted and morphed.

By the end of it, Kokabiel's previous hideous appearance was no more.

He now had pure white hair and blue eyes. His before hideous face was now handsome. And his elven ears were now looking like a human's.

But above all, the most noticeable change was his wings.

They were now pure white.

Kokabiel the Fallen Angel was no more, now he was, once again, Kokabiel the Angel.

[Angel Kokabiel]

"What the FUCK?!!!?!?" Everyone in attendance yelled as they couldn't believe their eyes, Xenovia and Irina, especially since the only person that could give back a Fallen their Angel-Hood, was god himself.

They couldn't hear anything thanks to the barrier Otto had placed up, but they sure as hell could see everything.

-Otto Apocalypse POV-

I know that Kokabiel is just some mid-tier villain in the DXD anime, but that's because he was written to be a third-rate villain.

Because of that, people tend to forget that he's literally a being that has lived for hundreds of thousands of years, maybe even millions depending on what time, God created the Angels.

He was quite literally created to be able to do more than be just some "Other Villain".

In fact, I've already figured out why so.

The heaven system.

It's the very thing that controls how heaven works, the distribution of Sacred Gears to humans when they are born, and Angels.

One of the reasons that the heaven faction is so weak today is because they can't reproduce.

Why can't they?

Because God forgot to turn on the setting before he died in the great war between Devils, fallen angels, and heaven.

Of course, despite having become a fallen angel, the heaven system is still connected to them.

God didn't take the fallens ability to use light or their strength, but their ability to become stronger. The ability to become Better.

By using [Corruption], all I needed to do is hack into the heaven system through Kokabiel's connection with it.

Voilá

And that's how you capture an angel for the low. Low. Low, cost of sending him to war for you.

At least I now have a person who's willing to throw himself into an Honkai beast tide with a smile on his face.
