Chapter 8 - Date and Past...

Yesterday night, I asked Nikita to go out with me because it's Saturday. I planned everything and woke up early. Today, before she could arrive and knock on my door, I was standing outside waiting for her to come, and when she arrived, she was surprised to see me early.

I saw Nikita, and she was dressed very casually. She was wearing a black top and jeans, and her hair was tied up, unlike normal days. She was wearing a pair of matching shoes with it, and I was wearing a hoodie; beneath it was a red T-shirt and a pair of jeans. I did a clean shave as well.

After we both complimented each other and arrived from the place to the nearest café, We both ordered a simple coffee and had some chit-chat in the past.

So, it says that ladies first, but you should be the first as you have invited me today. (Nikita)

Yeah, then listen... In my childhood, I had a very bad past. My parents had an arranged marriage, but my father loved my mother. Whenever she was having a problem, he helped her, and even after the divorce, he never stopped supporting her. They got divorced because my father was aggressive sometimes. After all, he had mental health issues, but he never laid a finger on her whenever the fight happened. He loved her so much that when he found out about my mother having kidney problems, he donated his kidneys to save her. Even my mother loved me as well; she used to hide her problems and pain and even kept everything hidden from me after she left. (Suraj)

Why did she leave you? (Nikita)

She didn't leave me. She passed away due to a cancer disease. I was a mama's boy, and my father relied on her for everything. One day she had a problem; it was like her body was degrading from the inside. So, she had a full body checkup, and in the reports, it was found that she had blood cancer. She tried hiding it from my father so that he wouldn't get worried about her. One day, she left us, saying that me and my father are a disgrace. I never knew why she said that to both of us. Once she left, I hated her for a long time and ignored her. One day she passed away, and then one day a friend came into my life. His name was Isha. She always made me smile and helped. We were both close friends. So close that I never believed that I'd be betrayed by her. (Suraj)

Did she betray you? (Nikita)

She not only betrayed me but threw me away. One day, we both went back home in a car. She was driving the car, and while driving the car, we were attacked by some strangers. I tried defending myself, but I was beaten to death, and they threw me away. I saw Isha watching and laughing at me. I cried out for help and mercy, but she never showed any of that and left me alone, injured. I woke up in the hospital bed, and I had the news that my mother passed away because of cancer, my uncle told me that she left us for our own good. When my father heard that news, he was shocked, and he also passed away after a week due to a stroke.

Just after that, I was broken and not able to trust anyone until I met you in person, and you changed my life, Nikita. I was able to be myself once more because of you.

Thank you. (Suraj)

Oh, that was something tragic. I am glad that I was able to help. (Nikita)

Now, what is your problem? (Suraj)

Ah!!! I prefer not to talk about it. (Nikita)

Why? (Suraj)

Because it haunts me. My whole life, I have always been a loner, but that changed ever since I met you. (Nikita)

What happened in your past? (Suraj)

It's nothing; leave it. (Nikita)

After that, Nikita started trembling. She saw someone she knew from her past. I guessed it because of her expressions.

What happened, Nikita? (Suraj)

I am fine. I just need to go to the bathroom. (Nikita)

The moment Nikita left, she never came back. After that, I kept waiting until an hour had passed. I stood up and asked someone from the staff to check in the washroom; from there, I got the information that she had already left the café. I got worried, so I paid the amount and left to search for her.

The man she saw and was scared of. I spotted him. I asked him about Nikita.

Where is she? (Suraj)

My child, whom are you talking about? (The Man)

You don't know about Nikita. (Suraj)

Who is Nikita? (The Man)

From his tone, it seemed like he didn't know about her. So, I apologized to him and left the place. I was in a rush and kept searching for her in the entire area. While searching for her, I saw a crowd gathering on the street where people were looking at something and taking pictures of it. I saw the wristband of Nikita near the place, so I picked up the wristband and went into the crowd. There, I spotted the dead body of a girl wearing the same clothing as Nikita had. I got scared, so I suddenly called for an ambulance. I was worried about her, and when the ambulance arrived, I took that person's body to the ambulance, and then it arrived at the hospital. I booked a cab and followed the ambulance. I was worried and getting tense.

I saw some voicemails from Nikita on my phone while I was checking the destination. It was the time when she left for the washroom. I was tense and scared, so I played the voicemails. It was shocking what I heard in those voicemails.

Hey Suraj, I know that I am not brave like other people. So, I decided to talk to you with this voice.

I left the place because I got scared of the man who was wearing a coat in the café. It made me uncomfortable and reminded me of my uncle, who destroyed my life.

When I was 12 years old, he used to hurt me. I was young, so I never knew. I can't explain that thing because it haunts me. I hate myself for what I did. When my parents found out about him, they filed a case against him and put him behind bars. I never had friends, and when I grew up, I learned what he did to me. I hated myself, and it became a traumatic memory for me. Even in school, I was bullied for being different from others. I was a loner and a crybaby. They always mocked me and hated me for who I was. When I was in college, I was attacked by a member of the staff. He abused me and trapped me in a room for several days. I was somehow saved, but it ruined me from the inside. I hated living in that city, so I moved here. I know that while you listen to this, you won't believe me, but even in the office, people tried doing the same, but I complained and fired them. I was insecure and felt weak until you arrived, and everything changed. The day we both joined our company together, it started to change every time, and the rest of you know.

While listening to the voicemails, I heard the sound of a car accident that I heard. After that, when I was finished, I started crying. Realizing that I was not able to help her made things worse.

When I arrived at the hospital, the police came along as well. It was found that the victim was dead, so my body went through the identification process. They told me to wait until the evening. So, I gave them my number so that they could inform me. I went back to my home and remembered all the moments that I had with her.

After that day, I never got a call from them, and three days passed.

I was in sorrow and feeling numb. I never went outside, and I kept sleeping and eating inside the home. I got calls and emails from others, which I ignored.

Almost a week passed, and then I got a call regarding the body identification. It was found that Nikita wasn't there at the time of the accident.

I was shocked to hear that news but sad at the same time. After that, I went outside in search of her again. This time I was in my pyjamas and shirt. I went to Nikita's place, but I didn't find her there.

I went inside her house, and there I found a note written by her.

It was written that she was glad to have a great time with me, but the people around her were just hungry for lust, so she mentioned returning to her hometown. She didn't even leave a clue, but she did mention that the accident was planned by her. She left the wristband on purpose so that I would lose track of her. Realizing that made me all broken and emotional at the same time, but I was blaming myself for her leaving the place.

To be continued.
