As I sat at the lavish dining table, the aroma of a perfectly cooked steak wafted through the air, tantalizing my senses. The tender meat, cooked to perfection, practically begged to be savored. With each bite, I relished the taste , savoring the meal with gusto. My parents, seated across from me, engaged in conversation, discussing the day's events and matters of importance, nothing that I lent my ear to as I did not care about the current politics at court and neither what was happening in the county, as from my knowledge of the novel I knew that until the second Crysis this place would be heaven on hearth, with the only exception of few monsters roaming around.
I couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction as I looked around. Life here was undeniably great. My room, a sanctuary of comfort and luxury, awaited me each night.servants attended to my every need, ensuring that every detail of my existence was met with precision and care.Apart from meals that rivalled the greatest of banquet.
Gone were the mundane worries of my previous life, here, I did not have to worry about what to eat or if any bulgar would come in to steal what I had, I reveled in the privilege of a life filled with extravagance and luxury. And I was absolutely set on making sure it remained like this, which would undeniably mean killing Lucas before he could get me.
With a subtle movement from the corner of my eye, I observed Rox approaching my father. Bowing respectfully, he whispered a few words that elicited a nod from Dad before his gaze shifted to me.
"Is there something wrong?" I asked, savoring the last bite of my perfectly cooked steak.
"Your new tutors have arrived. Before they come in, let me go over your daily schedule," my father explained, absentmindedly scratching his throat.
"Each day, except for Sundays, will begin at 9:00 with an etiquette lesson. Then from 10:15 to 10:45, you'll have history class. After that, it's political tutoring until noon. After lunch, you'll train with swords until our master-at-arms decides to end the session," he detailed as I leaned back and mentally prepared for the intense routine. It was good to have my entire mornings and afternoons free to sleep and play around but apparently the holidays were over...
"I have a request, if we're going through with this," I interjected absentmindedly. "Can we reduce the etiquette lessons and add more time to history? Thirty minutes would suffice."
"May I ask why?" my father questioned.
"I'm more interested in history than etiquette," I confessed before standing up from the table.
"Where are you off to?" my father raised an eyebrow, studying me closely.
"I want to meet my tutors. Especially the one who will be training me. Is he skilled?" I inquired eagerly.
"He is a highly esteemed warrior . I had to pull some strings to get him here, so make sure you take full advantage of his teachings. His name is Caer, and he was the head of the Royal Knight Vanguard during our war with the demon . '
''Rest assured, he knows what he's doing," my mother chimed in, sharing more details about the renowned trainer.
"If he's so skilled, then why did he agree to teach a county heir?" I couldn't help but question. After all, someone of his caliber shouldn't have financial issues.
"Let's just say he needed a break from the capital and my offer was too good to refuse," my father responded in a monotone voice.
"What kind of problems did he have in the capital?" I pressed, curious about the circumstances that led him to accept the position, I could not help it I wanted to know .
"It's not your concern. And I suggest you don't bring it up with him either. It's a delicate matter," my father warned before returning to his half-finished meal.
I left my father's stern words ringing in my ears as I strode out of the grand mansion, heading towards the expansive garden where my new teachers awaited me. As I approached, my eyes scanned over the trio, taking in every detail.
The first man, with a well-groomed mustache and a youthful energy, seemed slightly nervous. He would be my etiquette tutor, I presumed.
Next to him stood an older gentleman, his snow-white beard giving him an air of wisdom. His eyes held a wealth of experience and knowledge, ready to be shared with me.
But it was the third figure that caught my attention. Adorned in shining armor and surveying his surroundings with a vigilant gaze, he exuded a sense of duty and stoicism. My hopes of evading training sessions were quickly dashed. Growing up on the streets taught me how to choose my targets carefully when pickpocketing, and while I may have been able to sneak past the first two teachers, it was clear that this third one was not one to mess with.If I was still my past self, and attempted to rob his belonging ,one wrong move and I could end up beaten or worse. And apparently it was him that would be training me on combat.
As I approached the trio in the garden, the elder man with the snow-white beard noticed my presence. With a dignified acknowledgment, he bowed respectfully, his years of experience and deep sense of propriety evident in his every move."Greetings, young Master Favian," he welcomed me with a warm yet measured tone. His wise eyes gleamed with knowledge and a genuine desire to teach.
"I am Professor Eldrion," he introduced himself, standing tall with an air of importance. "It is an honor to serve as your political and history teacher. I look forward to guiding you through these subjects."
His voice held a certain weight, and the sparkle in his eyes hinted at a true passion for teaching. And out of all that would be taught to me, history was what I craved most. In my previous life, I had been an avid learner and reader, with history being my favorite subject.
Actually,In my past life I only went to the library at first because it was warm during winter, but during my time there I grew to love our ancestors' teachings. Studying history allowed me to analyze things from a broader perspective, and find connections between past and present - something I always adored to do , and my favority subject was medieval history.
The second man, distinguished by a well-kept mustache, stepped forward to make his introduction. His posture exuded a youthful vibrancy, and his meticulously groomed mustache spoke of his attention to detail."Good day, young Master Favian," he greeted with a polite nod, his gaze steady and authoritative. "I am Professor Laurio. It is my pleasure to guide you in matters of etiquette and refined conduct."
Honestly I had no opinion on him, as his subject did not interest me in the slightest , the fact that I was under all boxes a street rat in my previous life did not help , as I had no care for things like proper behaviour and etiquette , nonetheless I was aware that since I now am a noble I was expected to learn on how to properly talk and act, so over all I had not ill or good feeling about him.
The third man, clad in armor was however the one I was most interested in , he remained notably silent as he observed me with a discerning gaze. His scrutiny seemed thorough.
After a moment, I couldn't help but break the silence, "Finished sizing me up?" I inquired, in a rather icy tone
His response was measured and direct. "Name's Caer," he stated succinctly, his words carrying a no-nonsense air. "I'll be your master at arms. Your skills with a sword need honing apparently , and I aim to make sure you're more than competent."
After a moment, he spoke, his words carrying a sigh, "We've got much to work with here, and I can tell from the state of your body that you're too frail. But don't worry, we'll toughen you up." His straightforward assessment left no room for ambiguity, and honestly I liked that, as I needed to properly train if I wanted to get stronger .
Facing the trio of tutors, I decided to present myself in a direct manner, mirroring the clarity I had observed in their introductions. "I'm Favian, and I hope you'll teach me well," I stated, my tone conveying a blend of eagerness and determination.
With a slight nod, I extended an invitation, "Feel free to make yourselves at home inside." I gestured towards the mansion, hoping to create an environment where we could collaborate effectively on my training.
The three men responded with nods, and I caught a glimpse of the elderly man muttering something to the second, who in turn gave an affirmative nod.
Nonetheless, I cared little for their opinion, as I was interested just in the things I could learn from them , so I swiftly turned around and led the way inside.
