Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Meeting the lord

The three men followed me into the mansion, the resonance of their footsteps echoing in the grand entrance hall as the servant bowed to them...the bastards never showed such behavior with me.

Ignoring the servant's antics, I led them towards the room that my father had prepared for such discussions, a space designated for hashing out practical matters like lodgings and salary—mundane details that held little interest for me.

As we entered the room, I motioned for them to take a seat around the polished wooden table. The atmosphere shifted from the outdoor introductions to the more formal setting indoors. I took a moment to observe each of them, noting the subtle expressions on their faces.

Caen met my gaze with a steady and determined look, the intensity in his eyes reflecting his soul and personality. The old man, Professor Eldrion, regarded me with eyes that bore weariness and tired, at his old age he must get tired easily....he is not going to die on me right?

On the other hand, Professor Laurence appeared somewhat uncomfortable under my scrutinizing gaze. His subtle shifts and uneasy expressions hinted at a reserved demeanor, making me curious about the man behind the well-kept mustache. Is he a coward?I expected that someone that teached etiquette at least knew not to display his emotions so blatantly...

The door swung open, heralding my father's entrance into the room. As he stepped in, the three guests rose respectfully, bowing in acknowledgment of his presence. My father returned the gesture with a nod before taking a seat beside me at the table.

"Sorry for keeping you waiting," my father apologized, a tone of courtesy in his voice.

The old man, Professor Eldrion, chuckled lightly. "It's a small matter, Lord Favian. We understand the demands of a household."

That's strange why does father look so assured from the old man words, is he someone important? As I locked gaze with him the old man smiled at me, I didn't like his smirk, I felt as if he was making fun of me .

Rising from my seat, I offered a polite excuse to my father and the esteemed guests. "Please excuse me , I shall leave you in the company of the father " I expressed with a nod, signaling my intention to leave .

After all I had things to prepare for the ritual , most of which were to be consumed after the ritual ....as the taxing for it was to be enormous.

As I excused myself from the meeting, I couldn't help but notice my father sighing. However, I chose to brush it off, allowing the sound to fade into the background as I strolled down the hallway toward my room.

Entering my room, a weary sigh escaped my lips as I collapsed onto the plush, comfortable bed. The softness of It closed on me , and I felt as If I was being hugged..

Damn, if I love this bed.

Glancing around, I noticed a change in the room's appearance. It had been thoroughly cleaned, erasing any lingering traces of the violent encounter with Lucas. The blood spots that once marred the ground and walls were now gone, as if someone had meticulously scrubbed away the remnants . That son of a bitch bashed my head everywhere.....wow even the wardrobe was changed.

And as I opened it , I discovered that all of my clothes were reput inside, seems like the servants really did a wonderful job....

Anyway I got few hours to kill so....I wandered over to my desk's mini-library, grabbed a couple of books, and cracked them open. At least I could find something I like to do in the meantime , and I figured it was the best way to kill time until everyone crashed for the night.

I grabbed a book about mana from the shelf, flipping it open before I started reading . The pages were a treasure trove of knowledge waiting to be learnt.

.

I knew that understanding mana was key to mastering its use, so I dove into the text, absorbing every bit of information. And most of all as childish as it sounds...I needed all the information I needed to make sure I could hopefully in the future develop a soul projection. After all who would not want to have such a rare power?

Sure enough I managed to kill time rather easily ,as the night came in rather quickly .Rising from the bed, I decided it was time to commence the ritual. Opening the door, I cast a glance around, ensuring the hallway was devoid of any prying eyes. Satisfied that I was alone in the silent corridors, I stepped back into the room, closing the door behind me.

Walking towards the bathroom I opened the mirror and took everything that was inside of it. I carefully retrieved small bandages, a bottle of disinfecting alcohol, and a small dagger.

Alongside these tools , I also took a few snacks tucked away, a contingency plan for a successful venture, after all if everything went well I had to celebrate right?

Gathering my findings, I placed the small bandages, disinfecting alcohol, the petite dagger, and the snacks on the bed. A sigh escaped my lips as I contemplated the task at hand. Deciding on a more practical setting, I lowered myself to the floor.

The cold surface beneath me made me feel a bit nervous as I took a big breath and unsheated the dagger .

''It's a familiar dance, isn't it? The constant gamble, the hope that this time will be different, that somehow you'll come out on top...you are familiar with it , it failed many times before but .....

this time you will hit the jackpot" With these words, I mustered my resolve, and slit my wrist.

Standing up, I allowed the falling blood to be my guide, creating a small circle on the floor with its crimson trail. I shaped it purposefully, forming a circle with three distinct points triangularly positioned along its edges.

That's it , everything ready .....now it is only time to call him .
