After the man was gone, I rose from my seat and moved toward the door. Just as I was about to step out, the two maids assigned to my service stood infront of me, effectively blocking my exit. "Where are you going, Lady Amara?" one of them asked, her tone a mix of concern and authority.
"To the garden," I replied, trying to keep my voice steady. "I overindulged at dinner and thought that a stroll would do me good."
