The night had settled in, the sun long vanished from the horizon. My brother and I crouched behind the trees, scanning and observing our surroundings. Before us, the forest opened into a small town that exuded warmth and simplicity. I pursed my lips wondering whether I should enter this town or not.
We could find refuge here for a few days, at least, and renew our strength. After all, I had successfully put some distance between us and Rhys. Yet, a gnawing worry lingered in the depths of my heart.
What if he tracked us down? What if he caught us again?
The thought sent a shiver through me, and I desperately wished to avoid that fate. Before Rhys could find us, I needed to find Killian and reveal the truth to him. His whereabouts were unknown to me, but I held on to the hope that he was still in that hidden village, a place I knew lay beyond the reach of this town.
