He merely stared at me, his expression distant and hollow.
"Ethan," I called gently, but as he blinked, tears began to cascade down his cheeks. Before I could react, he threw his arms around me, pulling me into a tight embrace, his sobs echoing in the small room. "Sister, sister… I want to go home. I am so scared. Please, take me back home."
My heart shattered at the sound of his despair, and I wrapped my arms around him. "We will go back, Ethan. We will," I promised, determination coursing through my veins.
No matter what it took, I knew then that I would bring Ethan out of this castle. I would defy the darkness that threatened to consume us and fight for his freedom. Together, we would find our way home.
