I felt the air grow thick with tension as Killian voiced the words I'd dreaded. "Amelia, didn't we promise we would never hide things from each other?"

There was anguish etched in his features, a hurt that cut deeper that I never intended. There was pain behind his question, and suddenly, every unspoken fear I harbored came crashing down like a tidal wave.

Panic fluttered in my chest as I stammered, "Killian, I— I…"

I opened my mouth to speak, but once again, the words felt trapped inside me like birds in a cage, desperate to escape but unable to escape. I could see him teetering on the brink of despair, his vulnerability laid bare, making my heart ache for him.

"I thought you considered me your husband." His voice cracked like glass, raw with pain. "I thought we were one. That we would share everything, no matter how big or small." Each word struck me like arrows, each one a reminder of my failure to uphold the promise I had once made.
