Killian and I were in the dark. We knew nothing much about this mark, its significance in our lives, or what it would do for us. But from the way this mysterious man acted, it was pretty clear that he knew about it. Maybe I could get some information from him. However, knowing whether the information he would give me was true or false was a difficult task.
"Killian didn't tell you anything?" he asked a hint of amusement in his voice.
"He doesn't know anything," I admitted.
A harsh laugh erupted from him. "Hah! Why did I even ask? I should have known. He's as clueless as you are."
Clueless? About what? What should Killian and I know? What was going on in this evil man's mind? My mind raced with questions, and a knot of unease formed in my stomach. I wanted to know more. I wanted to know what this man was thinking and what he was planning.
"What do you mean?" I pressed, my eyes searching his face.
