Chapter 16 - Core inscription

"And since I do not want you to push yourself further than that, we are going to move on to the specialities," Aldin said.

After checking how much of the two specialities Ariz knew, Aldin began teaching him all he knew.

Through the discussion, Aldin was able to refer to some things he had forgotten while also providing room for new concepts.

While they were talking, Aldin noticed that the flame on the array had gone off, he stopped talking and turned to face it, he removed the array he had drawn on the pyramid and opened up the rock, the core was dull, but when he placed it in his hands he could feel it drawing mana from him, it lit up slightly after some time.

'So closing it up prevents it from taking in any mana,' Aldin thought to himself. He vanished into his own world thinking about the whole thing.

"Is everything alright," Ariz asked Aldin. This snapped Aldin from his daze.

"Yeah, I'm alright," Aldin said. " I just have a problem I am struggling to solve,"

"What is the problem?" Ariz asked.

"Well, I have been looking for a way to make my arrays in a way that they do not need will to be added regularly but all the methods I made have flaws; I can't leave the core outside and if I cover the core it will be unable to take in any mana, if only there was a way yo draw the array and not make it alterable," Aldin said.

'I can't expose the core or disabling it will be easy when the mana is cut off, I need a way to ensure the man supply is constant and undisturbed,' Aldin thought to himself. Then it hit him, if the core was the issue then the array could be on the core.

"I think I have found my solution, today I'll show you how to make arrays in an new way," Aldin said.

Ariz went and sat on the other seat, as Aldin was about to go for another core he was able to sense people getting into the compound, he assumed they were his resources that had been brought.

He walked out and seconds later he was back with supplies and he built other shelves to place all of them arranging each and every one of them. As Aldinn walked back to the other desk next to Ariz, he came with a core.

"I came up with a solution to making a self-sufficient array," Aldin said.

"How do we make it then," Ariz asked.

"The same way others are made only we will be making it on the core, embedding it into the core, the mana will be used from the core," Aldin said.

"This was all a new concept to Ariz and so he felt very unfamiliar to it, Aldin explained it all to him, detail from when he discovered the method to the present time.

"Do you understand now," Aldin asked.

"I think so," Ariz said.

"That's good enough, I will make one and we will see how effective it is," Aldin said.

"Okay," Ariz said.

Aldin proceeded to start writing the inscription using his will and a bit of forge mastery, at the time he finished the inscription, a large flame was rising to him but he used a light construct shield to protect himself and Ariz.

"Seems it needs a regulator," Aldin said as the flame went down and he could see the core drained and dull in color.

'Are these cores the same as mana cores,' this thought crept into Aldin's mind but he pushed it to the side.

He then modified the array to regulate its output.

After a couple of seconds the flame rise again but it was tiny.

Aldin placed the crystal with the flame on the too on his desk.

"That worked out very well, now let me explain to you how to make one and the tricks to it," Aldin said and did just that.

'I had no idea any of that was even possible.' Ariz thought after Aldin gave him an explanation on it all.

After the explanation Aldin left Ariz to try it on his own.

Meanwhile, Aldin went outside after grading another crystal. When he got out he used a light construct to stay a float in the air, while cross legged he began using his accumulation technique and drew mana but not to himself, he poured it into the core that was in his hands. The core took in the mana but cracks formed on it before it turned to dust.

'Seems my input is too much,' Aldin thought to himself and left the particles to get blown away by the wind.

He went back to the lab, Ariz was still working on the crystal. Aldin went to the side of the room then rose up a cuboid pillar. On top of the pillar, he drew a mana drawing array and placed a new crystal on top of it. As the core gained mana it glowed, the glow grew until it got to it got to it's limit, the glow got steady and the crystal remained unchanged for sometime but cracks formed on it's surface.

Aldin immediately took it off the surface before it brook.

'So i need to use it at an even slower pace,' aldin thought to himself and added a strong limiter on the array before placing the crystal on top again, after observing it for a few more seconds the crystal did not show any progression in the crystal's crack. From behind him Ariz jumped up in joy, Aldin turned back to see him holding his crystal that had a small light orb floating on top of it.

"Good job," Aldin said.

"Since you are done with that time for a read," Aldin continued and directed Ariz to his desk where the alchemy books were placed, he gave them to Ariz.

"I got these from Alastor they will help you, come back tomorrow in the morning, we will continue then," Aldin said.

"Okay," Ariz said and Aldin walked him out.

"And also I will be relying on you to cover the expense of getting my carcassed processed," Aldin said before closing the door.

Ariz went on to the castle with a smile on his face.

Meanwhile back at the Randells residence, Aldin had picked a core crystal and placed it his hand, he compressed it using his forgemastery skill till it looked like a small jewel.

Aldin then starred down at it and began drawing an array on it with extreme precision since his eyes could easily zoom in on it.

Once he was done he looked back up with beads of sweat on his head. It took some effort to forge it. Using a piece of wolf bone and attached it to the tiny core shaped it to form a ring, the crystal protuded from the top.

Aldin looked at the ring with a smile on his face.

'Now time to test it out,' Aldin thought to himself and walked outside where he formed a light construct, Aldin the pointed his hand toward it and after triggering the ring's array a giant arrow of wind formed in his hand and fired at the light construct and broke it, the wind wend further ahead.

'It's effects are amazing, this would be amazing in a battle,' Aldin thought with smile on his face.

As Aldin was going down back to the ground, his parents arrived.

"How was your day kiddo?" Sylvia asked Aldin when she was close enough.

"It was great, i got a lot of surprise today," Aldin said with a smile on his face.

"Good to hear that," Sylvia said and they walked in to the house and called it a day. After dinner Aldin heade down to the basement to check on his crystal. When he got there he was pleasantly surprise, the crystal had grown though not by a lot the change was significantly visible.

Aldin smiled as he inspected the crystal. Pleased with the results he had gotten Aldin chose to call it a day and head to his room, while in his room, he could not help but think of the crystal and ways he would be able to use it.

Aldin ended up not sleeping all night thinking of all the ways he could used the crystal, unable to bear the excitement of working on the core Aldin got out of bed and went to his lad, the crystal had grown to double it's original size.

Aldin took the crystal off of the pillar and placed it on his desk, what he did first was use forging to reduce the crystals size till it formed an eye sized crystal.

Aldin began inscipring it, the crystal was of the light attribute which meant Aldin was capable of altering the output per his wish and he had an idea of what he would do with it, he also wanted to test how much the crystal could handle. Once he was done Aldin attached it to a metal chain. He then went outside, he could see the sun rising, a smile formed on is face as he activated the array in the chained orb in his hand.1
