Inside the taxi, I decided to take my time to do my research on Zayn Steele.
He had been so insistent on getting married to me, without proper reason. It made me wonder what it means.
But looking at my options, maybe it would be better.
I did not know much about him, it can be said that everyone only knew the general information. As I scroll through google, I kept on clicking information regarding him.
He was accepted into Stanford University at just seventeen years old, he had such a an high IQ. He was the youngest student and most popular. A year later, he had played a gamble with all his life savings and won almost 100 million. Which he used to open a casino in the United States.
One of the biggest casino there right now.
Impressive.
At just age 18, he had a networth of 900 million and was listed among the richest men in the world by Forbes.
When he was done with university, he started the Steele Investment company. He returned home some years after and gave the casino to his sister Serena to manage.
While he remained here, he took over his grandfather business and became the CEO of both Steele Investment and Opulix group.
He may be rich but he had a list of women he was seen with, slept with ranging from models to princesses to first lady. I was nothing but an insignificant stone within these shiny women.
He also had different charity organizations, it seemed that in a short period, his amazing achievements and past were nothing but a dream to a common man eyes.
Yet here he was literally asking me to be his wife. Jesus. What type of Cinderella game is this? I placed my phone in my bag and looked out the window, the sky rumbled as lightning hit the sky. Typical for it to rain during March.
As the taxi pulled up to the grand gates of my parents' mansion, I couldn't shake the feeling of unease. I had thought I'd never return here.
Stepping out of the taxi, I hesitated for a moment, taking in the imposing facade of the mansion. Then, to my astonishment, I spotted the person I least expected to see standing at the entrance—my cousin, Emily.
She was leaning against one of the pillars, her demeanor as aloof and enigmatic as ever. Her beige coat hanging loosely against her arm.
When she saw me she stood up straight.
"Just the person I was waiting for," she said as she walked towards me. She was dressed in an expensive black midi dress with black heels.
I smiled at her, "Am I that special that you have to wait for me, dear Emily?"
She scoffed, "Don't flatter yourself. Theoment your father said you were coming, I knew I had to tell you straight to your face to avoid the drama that would probably unfold in that room the moment you enter."
"And what exactly do you want to say?"
"I wanted to applaud you on how capable you have become."
"Excuse me?" I asked, confused by her statement.
"You are really capable," she gracefully stood in front of me, arrogantly lifting her red plump lifts, laughing coldly. One could see that she had a failed lip surgery though.
But I won't mention the weird wait her upper lip raise when she laughs making her look like a duck.
"You know cousin, the last time anyone had saw you in the news papers was when your engagement was announced but that didn't even fall through…now you have become so shameless you dare to crawl into someone's bed." She looked at me with disgust, "So, in your head you are going to become Zayn Steele's wife, right? You are going to be the next madam, but yet you are a nobody. No job, no lifestyle, you would probably be disowned soon, you are nothing to Zayn. You probably force him to follow you around, to act relevant when you are not."
I didn't say anything as I have long been accustomed to the mockery.
For the first time I took Zayn's advice and said, "Miss Emily Stark, manager of the stark foundation, you are probably very busy and shouldn't bother yours with news about an insignificant person as myself. If there is nothing else, I must see to why my father had called me here. See you inside."
I walked past her and up the stairs, the guards didn't say anything as I walked past them.
"Ember, you are shameless. Do not think that you can enter into the Steele family? It's a hard dream, we the Starks aren't even relevant. But I know Zayn far more than you ever will. That man is my best friend childhood sweetheart. Don't think you can climb into someone's bed like your mother did, maybe you should disappear like her as well. Your presence is disgusting and polluting the environment."
