"I'm okay, Luca, don't worry," Kyra muttered back, smiling at Lucas as she held his hand. He looked at her with his clear ocean-blue eyes, searching her face, but then looked away.
Kyra felt a growing sense of urgency and decided that she needed to talk to the healer about what was going on. She couldn't just sit by and do nothing.
"We've all gathered here to discuss this situation," Healer Angelo said. "All males ranked five and above, please visit the leader house tomorrow morning. We need to come up with a plan. With winter here, other tribes and towns are refusing to trade food with us, so we don't have any choice."
"We will peacefully end this meeting here," the leader announced, signaling that it was time for everyone to leave.
