Chapter 43 - Chapter 43: An Unpleasant Encounter 4

In the bowels of the cave, there is a circular room that looks like a chamber where magma from volcanoes is stored, though instead of the fiery lava that would make people burn just by being in its vicinity, there is a pool of violet-colored water where the remains of poisons, yokai and other unknown substances are intertwined.

*Boom* *Boom* *Boom*.

Fighting within the violet waters without rest or respite, two different beings face each other. The first was a titanic green colored yokai that could be considered the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a demon. Confronting it is a young man with white hair, red attire and a huge sword that he swings like a branch making the scene surreal.

Christopher/Asahiko pov.

"Kikyo, Kikyo. are you awake?"

Putting away my fan after traumatizing the poor yokai who now can't even look in my direction, I extend my index finger towards Kikyo's cheeks gently squeezing them about three times, even at the end it seems to me that I was only doing it to see her unconscious reactions.

"That way you'll never get her up!"

"Calm down Shippo, Kikyo is a lady, she can't be treated roughly and even less in her current condition."

Hearing the little fox's words that have a ring of truth to them, he left the trance that was sinking Kikyo's cheeks before observing the surroundings to find out what's going on. Kagome still stands screaming towards Inuyasha, while Sango catches Kirara the two-tailed kitten in her arms because she's trying to jump into the pool and on the other side, the monk Miroku holds Shippo at the same time giving me an appreciative look as if approving of my methods.

"Mmm..."

"Welcome to the realm of the living."

Feeling Kikyo's flick of the tail holding her and the small noise coming from her lips, I turn my face to focus my full attention on her before speaking with clear enthusiasm.

"What's going on..."

"Forgive me for intruding on your conversation, but we can't let this ritual run its course... the priestess Kikyo must be able to understand."

Kikyo's words were rather weak due to the lack of souls, but her gaze running over my face before ending on my finger still against her cheek, gives all the necessary context to those few words. For a few seconds I remained static until Miroku proved to be a caring monk and I even thought I saw him give me a thumbs up as he ended this situation by speaking loudly towards us.

"Consider yourself excused, now Kikyo can you end this spell?"

Turning my face to speak to Miroku and withdrawing my finger at a mind boggling speed from his cheek. I extend my tail slightly pushing Kikyo's body away before slowly landing her on the ground, though I still keep my grip strength on her making it so that despite having her feet on the ground all of her weight is supported by my tail.

"Yes..."

"Good, everyone has already heard her back!"

To other people's eyes Kikyo appears to have regained some of her power, though with the time I've spent with her I certainly know that's not possible unless she absorbs other human souls. This situation is more akin to an increase in quality and not so much quantity in her spiritual power. Shaking my head to get out of my thoughts, I snap my fingers to focus the attention of Inuyasha's group on me and then speak moderately loudly so that even Kagome can hear me.

"Sango, take Shippo with you. Miss Kagome, we have to get away."

"But Inuyasha is still there!"

Watching as Miroku begins to calmly issue orders towards the rest of the group and as Kikyo loads her arrow. Again my attention is pulled to the side by the chatter of Miroku and Kagome who doesn't want to retreat from the cave.

"Easy, he's a demon... Okay, okay, sorry. But it doesn't do me any good for him to die here either, so I'll do everything to get him out alive."

Commenting rather nonchalantly that it's impossible for Inuyasha to be buried here, there's literally even a hole above the room, almost like where the lava from the volcanoes comes out leading to the outside. Although my opinion was certainly logical and obvious, I am forced to retract my thoughts due to the look on Kagome's face... That girl has a strong character, I must admit.

"You heard him, Miroku let's go."

Nodding between the two of them and giving one last glance towards where Inuyasha is still facing the titanic yokai. They begin to retreat further into the tunnel to be in a safe zone upon impact.

"Kikyo you do me the honors. lucky shit you are Inuyasha!"

Everything happened too fast. The first thing was Kikyo's shot that resulted in Kikyo's complete exhaustion and without thinking brought her close to my body again for what happened next. The arrow flew at full speed towards the yokai, but as if luck gave us the middle finger, it hits right into Inuyasha's giant sword causing it to take the shape of a normal sword and the arrow to be redirected towards the top of the cave resulting in the spell forcibly crumbling.

*Boooom*

"Inuyasha!"

"Stop Kagome, you'll only endanger yourself and Inuyasha if you go in now."

Yes I barely managed to hear the words of those two girls, before the ground I am standing on is shattered by the continuous tremors of the mountain. During my fall into the pool of violet water, it explodes like a geyser sending everything in its depths into the sky along with my body and Inuyasha's body.

There were hundreds, maybe thousands of bodies easily, all with different shapes and characteristics showing that they are of various species of yokais. It was so thick that Inuyasha could walk in the wake created by the corpses as they were pulled in a specific direction.
