Chapter 11 - Alpha

By the time they reached the outpost the storm that had been barking down on them all day had finally hit. Ice crystals pelted them from all sides. When the five of them got into the squat one room cabin it was well below zero outside. Victoria had shifted before entering the cabin and Asmund issued a threat to anyone who looked at her before she got dressed.

Instead of Heading for the cubbies of clothes she went to the fire place and started to lay the fire. "Love why don't you get dressed?" He said hopefully. She ignored him and continued to work until there was a fire crackling merrily in the harth. "Babygirl!". He tried again only to be ignored in favor of finding something. The others were focused on making their beds for the night.

Trying there best to give their Luna as much dignity as they could in the confined space. "Victoria!" He finally snapped loudly. She flinched and looked at him in surprise. "Please come get dressed! There are other males here! So for the sake of my sanity will you please put something on!". Something in his voice must have told her he was begging.

"Alright Alpha." She murmured softly and he felt his heart break a little more. She took the old sweat shirt he offered to her and pulled it over her head. Small as she was the shirt fell past her knees as it hung on her tiny frame. "Is there a pan or pot in this cabin?" She asked no one inparticular. A large cast iron pot was produced from the hook by the fireplace.

"Right here, Luna." Harold said with a large grin on his face. Asmund was sure if he had a tail it would be wagging when Victoria thanked him for finding it for her. He heard snorts of laughter and a hushed mutter of puppy dog.

"Victoria, that is Harold. He is the youngest elite warrior in the pack. But if anyone thinks his inexperience makes him any less worthy of the same respect that all my elite warriors demand let them speak now!" Silence followed his statements and he realized that Harold was used to being looked down when he stared at his feet awkwardly.

Harold had been on the Alpha care list since he had been orphaned in a rouge attack at ten. It had been nine years since then and he had proved his dedication time and again. If anything Harold had fought harder than any other warrior in the elites. Yet they still didn't think he deserved what he had fought so hard for. "Instead of making stupid jokes why don't you put yourselves to better use and find something for us all to eat." Asmund growled at the the one who had made the dog joke.

"Yes Alpha." The older man relented. Asmund turned his back on the two and went to the lodder in hopes of finding some kind of jerky or other smoked meat. All he found were dehydrated vegetables and a can of cream of something soup. He returned and saw that the other four had not faired any better. However in the light of the fire he saw how the can looked ready to explode.

"I'm going hunting." He said firmly. "I won't be far. You three are to remain with Luna Victoria no matter what." He glared at the three and each one nodded in turn. They had accepted the honor of Luna's bodyguard. Failure ment certain death. He saw that each one of them had understood what it meant.

He left them alone with his beautiful mate for a little over half an hour. That was all it took for him to catch three plump rabbits and return to the cabin. He hadn't wandered more than two hundred yards away from their shelter. But the temperature was dropping fast and he could barely feel anything by the time he got back inside. To his surprise Victoria was already skinning a fat rabbit while Harold looked exceptionally pleased. The other two were shaking their heads and looked amazed.

"Where did that come from?" Asmund asked.

"The boy went for a piss and came back with a rabbit." Jack, the eldest warrior, informed him. "By the by, I still say he's a puppy dog. Turns out he's a hunting dog."

"No accounting for luck I guess." Asmund said as he placed the three rabbits on the table to be skinned in turn. "We have four now. Good work Harold."

The rabbit stew that Victoria had insisted she cook for everyone was delicious. And they still had plenty to eat for breakfast in the morning by the time everyone on was full. She had somehow managed to stretch a pound of dehydrated vegetables and four rabbits to feed five full grown wolves.she finally finished scrubbing the kitchen area and checked to make sure the other three were asleep comfortably in their beds before she turned in for the night.

Asmund was smiling at her as he settled next to her on the bed. "What?". She asked when she noticed the look on his face.

"You are going to be a great Luna. I'm glad you're my mate." He said and kissed the top of her head.

By the time they reached the pack house the next day he could tell that the spontaneous run had left her sore and exhausted. He took her to their room and settled her into a hot bath before going to his Alpha duties. After a couple of hours he went to check on her and had to lift her out of the cold water.

He didn't bother trying to dress her after he had dried her off and opted to place her naked in his bed before returning to work. He was distracted the rest of the day by the thought of his fuckable mate naked in his bed. He imagined her waking up and Cameron realizing she could roll in his scent. It made him incredibly happy and horny.

'Fuck her!' Caldrell growled for the millionth time as he walked to his room. He had to admit that the idea had merit.
