Victoria avoided Marcus for the rest of the week. It wasn't hard as he wasn't in school. Victoria wondered if it was because of her rejection. She knew deep down that she shouldn't have done it but she didn't care. Cameron hadn't talked to her for days after. Victoria didn't blame her. She probably wouldn't have talked either if the rolls were reversed.
She was once again outside the school going to math when she stopped suddenly. Marcus was standing in front of her. "My father told me to apologize to you again and at least try to make it right with you." He kicked a rock and it clattered past her. "He also told me that if you still want to leave he has found a pack for you."
"Hm." She wouldn't make the mistake of getting too close to him this time.
"Why didn't you tell me you were planning on leaving?"
"Why would I? You made my life a living hell."
"Do you hate me that much?"
"It's your fault I hate you." They stood in silence for a couple of minutes.
"Please forgive me Victoria. I will never stop apologizing and trying to make things right. Just give me a chance. Please." His bottom lip trembled as he begged her for what they both knew he didn't deserve.
"You can apologize till you are blue in the face and I will still hate you."
"Please at least stay in the pack."
"I accept what ever pack your father found. Tell him I am ready to go as soon as the arrangements have been made." With that she walked past him towards math. All the rest of the day she was trying to get Cameron to speak to her. When she arrived at home Alpha Samuel was there with Luna Coredillia.
"Omega." He said by way of greeting. She inclined her head respectfully to him and the Luna. "I will not beg you to reconsider your decision. Trust that I understand why you want nothing to do with my son."
"I'm sorry it turned out this way, Alpha." She muttered without looking up from her shoes.
"It's not your fault. Maybe someday Marcus will be worthy of a mate. I am sorry that his actions lead us here."
"He said you found another pack for me."
"Yes. The Coldwell pack in Alaska. They just went through the transfer of power and their new alpha is yet to find his mate. They had a surplus of strong warriors and a shocking lack of omegas. So you are being traded for ten warriors and a bottle of wine."you will be escorted to the private airfield where you will board a private jet that will take you to your new home. This will take place tomorrow morning. Your flight leaves at five am so be ready to go by two." Victoria nodded. "Victoria I am sorry it all turned out this way and I wish you all the best."
The jet was small and sleek. Inside it was comfortable with all the latest upgrades. She wondered what her new pack would be like as they jet took to the air. The man that she had been transferred to the custody of was silently doing paperwork but looked up when she cleared her throat. "How long will it be before we arrive at the Coldwell pack?" She asked timidly.
"You need to add Beta at the end of that question. As for how long it will be, it's a seven hour flight to Juno airport where we will refuel and it's going to be another eight hours flight after that to the private airfield where we will meet up with a car. A four hour drive to the border of the pack territory and another five hour drive to the pack village. Does that answer your question?"
"Yes. Thank you Beta."
"Perhaps you could tell me a little bit about this bullying in your file?"
"I'm a true omega and unfortunately in my old pack they are seen as useless throw aways by almost everyone unless they are the Luna. Marcus made my life a living hell. Too bad the gods have a sick sense of humor." With that she turned to look out the window.
"Let me guess. The Alpha traded you to us before the situation could be resolved with Marcus."
"Marcus Blood turned out to be my mate. I rejected him and now Cameron isn't talking to me."
"Well when the previous alpha spoke to Samuel he said it sounded like he was desperate to get rid of you?"
"Alpha Samuel was there for my first shift. I told him I was planning on leaving for a lot of reasons. My family's neglect being one of them. He must have realized that he was working on a time limit to find me a pack before I went rouge."
"I see. So the gods paired you with Samuel's dumbass son. I don't blame you for rejecting him. But it might have been done a little too quickly. The pain is nothing to shake a stick at." He sighed heavily. "Marcus's loss is our pack's gain. But I am surprised that you can talk about what happened without crying. The heart break alone would destroy any wolf."
"I just hope that Cameron will forgive me someday."
"Cameron is your wolf?" She nodded meekly. "She will. Eventually. I remember when I found my mate. I told her I was a toad and Mathous didn't talk to me for weeks afterward." They spent the rest of the flight in silence. Seven hours seemed to drag on. Then a two hour layover in Juno where she wasn't allowed to leave the plane. The eight hour flight was almost hell. Cameron spent it pacing restlessly in her head and growling.
'We need to run!' She snarled impatiently.
'It's not much longer, Cameron. Please calm down.' Victoria pleaded with her wolf as she too began to pace. They had been in the air for seven and a half hours now.
"Is something wrong?" The Beta asked concerned by her pacing.
"It's Cameron, she's restless." Victoria whimpered.
"It will be okay, Victoria. Just calm down.". He soothed as he tried to guide her back into her seat. "Mathous is restless too. The trick is not being over come by your wolf's demands. Haven't you figured that out yet?"
"I just turned eighteen a week ago." She whined and she saw his face blanche.
"You just got your wolf?" She nodded as her leg began to bounce frantically. "Which means you talked to your Alpha, rejected your mate, and left your first pack all without learning to control your wolf?" Again she nodded. "Damn. You are something else." He smiled and let go of her. "I promise you can let your wolf out for ten minutes when we land. We had a good tail wind and will be arriving at the airfield ten minutes earlier than expected. As a result our car will not be waiting for us when we get there. Just be patient for another fifteen minutes. Okay?"
"Yes beta. Thank you."
"Don't thank me just yet. And remember I was nice to you when you meet the Alpha.". He smirked. "He's a little mean to everyone. Especially my sister. I think it's because she pisses him off in just the right way."
"I will keep it in mind, Beta." She smiled back as best as she could. 'See Cameron? We'll be landing soon and then we can shift for a little bit. It's not the run you want but we can do that tonight after we meet the alpha.'
'Need out!' she half snarled in response. 'Need to find mate!'
'i don't want him! We left him remember. He hurt me so much. I can't trust that he will never do it again. I'm sorry.' Victoria closed her eyes and tried to fight back the tears that threatened to drown her.
'No! We are going to mate!'
'I don't understand. We rejected Marcus and left him back in wyoming.'
'Not Marcus! Someone else!'
"Beta?" He looked up to indicate he was listening. "Have you ever heard of someone having two mates?"
"At the same time? Yes but it is rare. Mostly that would be a male wolf and he would have two female mates." He looked confused. "Why do you ask?"
"Cameron says we have a different mate."
"It's possible that she is talking about a second chance mate. That happens when someone loses a mate or, in your case, is driven to reject their mate due to the actions of said mate. Marcus tortured you and made it so you could never trust him. You honestly had no other choice but to reject him. The gods may have paired you with someone else. But I still don't see why you would ask about it."
"Cameron says we are going to our mate."
"Well there are a lot of unmated wolves in our pack. Maybe it's one of them. Or it might be the Alpha."
"I hope not. I'm not cut out to be a Luna."
"Would you reject him if it were?"
"No." She sighed. "I don't think I can survive that heart break again." The plane bumped gently to the ground then.
"Well it's going to be a while before you meet him. Like I said it will be ten minutes before our ride gets here so you can shift and let Cameron out but don't go too far from me."
"Yes beta." After wandering around the hanger for a while Cameron was a lot calmer. She was giddy the whole car ride to the pack village.
