Chapter 5 - 5. History lesson

Utilizing magic to clean myself swiftly, I arrived at the main library early, preparing for Maester Darwin's class. Darwin, once a kind man when I was a toddler, had transformed into a manipulative and strict teacher as I grew older. A single beating from him had been enough to dissuade me from ever being late again, regardless of any mistress's orders. I yearned to rid this family of the old man and his concubine, who had subjected me to their abusive treatment, alternating between rewards and punishments. Yet, for now, I restrained my wrath, recognizing that I still had use of this family.

As the crusty old codger commenced the history lesson, I found myself grilled on the prestigious houses of the Unified Kingdoms. For each incorrect response, I faced the daunting prospect of a sound thrashing. Yet, to my surprise, my memory in this peculiar world proved sharp. Not only could I recall anything I had read before, but even fragments of knowledge from my previous life, allowing me to feign mediocrity in magical arts, martial prowess, and a breadth of historical and mathematical understanding.

However, it should be pointed out that remembrance does not equate to comprehensive comprehension. I may retain the entirety of a physics textbook from twelfth grade, despite having perused it just once, but that does not mean I grasp every intricacy within its pages.

The nobility in this realm differs somewhat from what I recall on Earth. The Unified Kingdoms emerged as an empire nearly two millennia ago, when Vincent Vincere conquered the entire continent, uniting all the major kingdoms under his banner. To give you a sense of scale, the Central continent within this world could accommodate nearly all of Earth's landmass and it isn't even the largest continent on this planet.

unified kingdoms consists of an archdukedom, a principality, and seven dukedoms. The archdukedom, governed by the supreme lord himself, the king, serves as the first territory subdued by Vincent Dragon Heart during his conquest.

The principality, on the other hand, was once the kingdom of Gracia, its former glory reduced to ash during an unfortunate event known as Dragon's Wrath. It was not merely the royal family of Gracia who perished in those flames, but every noble, whether lowly or exalted. The outbreak of Dragon's Wrath arose from a devious plot by the royal family of Gracia to assassinate Vincent Dragonhart's son. This attempted regicide, along with the ensuing conflagration, set off a chain reaction of conflicts known as the Wars of Union. Understandably, neighboring realms trembled before the might and ruthless nature of Vincent, whose power knew no bounds and who had the capability to wipe an entire kingdom from existence.

When the Wars of Union finally drew to a close, the entire continent capitulated to the rule of the dragon king.

In the span of a mere decade, a continent fragmented into over twenty squabbling kingdoms underwent a transformative metamorphosis. It emerged as a united empire, renowned as the Unified Kingdoms.

Vincent Dragon Heart divided the continent into nine distinct regions. The archdukedom, as befitting his exalted status, remained under his direct governance. The principality, meanwhile, passed into the hands of his firstborn son, until the day he ascended to the throne, upon which it would be inherited by his own firstborn . As for the seven dukedoms, they were entrusted to seven diverse noble houses, these stalwart organizations pledging unwavering loyalty to House Vincere and accepting Vincent as their everlasting sovereign.

what set Vincent Dragonheart apart was not a brood of mythical creatures known as dragon's, but rather an ancestral inheritance, an inborn dominion over fire itself, unraveled without the need for mana. Furthermore, his lineage bestowed upon him an imperviousness to flames, drawing an impenetrable cloak of defense against any incendiary assault of fire. It was this extraordinary gift that propelled him towards conquest, enabling him to lay claim to an entire continent.

Meeting with the dragon hearts may unveil the truth behind my divine sight, perchance I would unearth the enigma surrounding my transmigration in this fantastical realm. Perhaps it would serve as a pivotal clue, an ephemeral thread that would guide me on my odyssey towards reuniting with family on Earth.
