Chapter 8 - 8. High spell

"Hurricane Katrina."

As the words reverberated through the air, imbued with the poignant resonance of the chant, I united myself with an a powerful spell . Centering my focus, I visualized the formation of a cyclone, adhering to the fundamental scientific principles governing the creation of such a tempest, an understanding that attributed cyclones to the tumultuous air circulation tied to atmospheric disturbances in an area of low pressure.

It was an astounding feat to have successfully conjured such a high-tier spell at the very outset, a task nigh impossible had I not harbored my advantageous abilities. The divine sight, akin to a fathomless supercomputer, bestowed upon me the capacity to draw forth an abundance of mana, an act typically beyond the reach of most, whilst also facilitating the seamless execution of incantation and the visualization of scientific principles in tandem.

As the ethereal mana ebbed and flowed, intertwining with the surroundings, its seductive draw proved irresistible...

As the sun reluctantly departed the sky and cast an ethereal glow upon the land, I raised my hands high, fingers tingling with the raw energy of magical essence. It intertwined with the fabric of the wind, stirring the air with a graceful, fluid motion as intricate sigils began manifesting around me, incantations laying claim to my mind.

The gentle zephyr whispered secrets of the unseen, evolving into a soft breeze as my power surged and my connection with the wind deepened. Closing my eyes, I immersed myself in the unfolding spell. Slowly, a burgeoning exhilaration took hold, the tempest of energy yearning to be set free.

Invisible tendrils of wind, and once soothing, now tinged with growing intensity, coiled at my fingertips and whipped through my hair. As I intoned the final phrase, the strain of drawing my maximum mana output widened my eyes in response.

The very air quivered, eager to heed my command. A gust of wind erupted from my palms, swirling around me in a cyclone of vibrant energy. Locking eyes onto the manifestation of my magical prowess, I watched as the cyclone grew, spinning faster and faster, drawing in the very air around it. The center of the maelstrom formed a vortex, defying the natural order.

The cyclone's translucent tendrils coiled around each other, gaining strength with each revolution. The once calm atmosphere was now an unchained chaos - the winds roared and howled through the night, carrying with them the thunderous promise of destruction.

The deafening roar of the cyclone pierced the air, dominating the natural sounds of the world. As the windstorm unleashed its relentless grip, trees bent and snapped, boulders crumbled, and panicked beasts scurried for cover. With a mix of awe and regret, I beheld the unfolding destruction. The force of the cyclone rent the land asunder, sending debris spinning into the air like lethal projectiles. Mighty winds tore through miles of forest and villages, uprooting foundations and obliterating buildings. Once-lush fields of crops were reduced to a desolate wasteland, their once-lively plant life flung into disarray.

The cyclone's wrathful path recognized no boundaries, sparing nothing in its wake. People screamed and fled, their lives turned upside down by the power I had unleashed. As my eyes took in the chaotic scene, the cyclone continued its frenzied dance, a macabre cover allowing me to fake my death amidst the echoes of destruction and despair evolved.

As Hurricane Katrina raged on, I found myself leaving my previous location and venturing further into the mystic forest. The cyclone had moved beyond the strong magic region, prompting my decision to delve deeper into the thick foliage. Though I lacked a map, I knew I was heading south. With divine sight activated and my mana suppressed, I began my march.

I could have flown or run faster with the aid of mana enhancement, but that would have depleted my reserves. I had no intention of encountering any mana beasts while running low on energy. Instead, I opted to traverse the strong mana region, avoiding the king's road where my distinctive features might draw unwanted attention from nearby counties.

My plan was to travel several hundred miles within this enchanted region, establishing a significant distance between myself and Duston Viscounty. It was only then that I would venture into a town and seek a forged identity. My divine sight provided clairvoyant views, allowing me to detect and evade any mana beasts as I marched ten to twenty miles each day.

With my divine sight, hunting small game for sustenance posed no problem, and water could be conjured through my magic. At night, I would create a deep underground dome for protection, ensuring a restful and secure sleep. Mornings and evenings were dedicated to physical training, in the hopes that one day I might awaken my aura. I spent nearly a fortnight in the strong magic region, smoothly navigating its challenges.

As the mana density in the atmosphere lessened, I could see local villages with my divine sight. However, instead of wasting time mingling with curious bystanders, I made my way towards the village elders' hall. Introducing myself as a traveling mercenary who had lost his party while wandering through the strong mana region, I instantly caught the attention of the villagers.

Surviving the mana region unscathed made it evident to the villagers that I was no ordinary ten-year-old boy. When I inquired about directions to a nearby town, the elder agreed to let me join him and his fellow villagers on their journey to a place called Rhe. Of course, they expected compensation for my inclusion.

I hid the fact that I possessed gold coins, opting instead to present them with a single silver coin from my pouch, which was mostly filled with pilfered copper. I offered this coin to the elder as payment for allowing me to stay in the village as their guest. Being common folk, they found this sum of silver satisfactory, and a deal was struck.

Having utilized my divine sight to ascertain that there were no threats within the village, I decided it was safe enough to stay there for a while.
