Chapter 195 - Tracking

Gamma rays are a type of electromagnetic wave with extremely high frequency. Daisy had been studying magnetism and weak force recently, and she had a lot of data memorized. Writing the algorithm was easy. She inputted a few constants related to gamma rays and conducted source identification, eliminating several large laboratories. The remaining moving gamma-ray sources should be their targets.

Although Americans are not afraid of death, it's unlikely that anyone would roam the streets carrying radioactive material, right?

The algorithm was quickly written and handed over to Secretary Gates. He passed it to the specialized technicians to review. He was also afraid that Daisy might manipulate military satellites covertly. After waiting for fifteen minutes, the technicians confirmed that the algorithm was error-free, and it was officially deployed.

Being from the intelligence community, Gates didn't use any excuses to cover up his actions. He simply nodded after the algorithm was uploaded to military satellites.

Daisy didn't tamper with anything; a simple search algorithm like this wouldn't cause any issues.

Everyone in the meeting room watched the big screen together. The search radius quickly narrowed down from twenty-nine suspects to eight. Daisy refined the selection criteria again, and eventually, only two targets in the same location remained.

"It seems to be in Pennsylvania. Can we pull up specific images?" Daisy, to avoid suspicion, didn't control the military satellites herself, and the generals wouldn't know how to operate them. She quickly called over two technicians, and with their adjustments, the targets appeared on the screen.

With an exaggeratedly large head protruding from his forehead to the top of his head, Samuel Sterns, known as Big Brain, with his green skin was clearly visible.

Walking on his left side, with a body still covered in numerous burn scars, was Blonsky, now codenamed Abomination by the military.

Both of them were vigilant. As a seasoned veteran, Blonsky was well-versed in various U.S. military weapons and equipment, so there was very little footage of the two.

With the targets located, Daisy leaned back in her chair and remained silent. Nick Fury and Stryker had the same expression as her.

Secretary Gates knew that the order had to come from him. He didn't hesitate much. While Abomination might not be much of a threat, Big Brain posed a significant threat to the existing power structure of the country. If not controlled, he had to be eliminated.

He said to the Chief of Staff of the Army, "Confirm the target's location first before launching the missiles."

His words were vague, but everyone in the room understood the implications. Why confirm the location? It was to avoid collateral damage. Killing one or two people could be justified, but if hundreds or thousands died, no one could justify it.

The pressure on the Chief of Staff of the Army was great. Regardless of whether this was still a meeting of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, he quickly called in seven or eight assistants. Some contacted the stationed troops, some gave orders to prepare missiles, and others analyzed the route of advancement. Everyone was busy.

At the same time, Ajax and Lady Deathstrike, who were still waiting at the door, saw that all the lieutenants had entered. Could they also enter? The two of them stood at the door like idiots, with no water to drink or place to sit, and their suppressed resentment was about to burst.

The guards still wore deadpan expressions. One of them raised his left hand, gesturing for the two to stop. He had received a simple order: mutants absolutely could not enter, even if it meant sacrificing himself.

Seeing Ajax about to lose his temper, Stryker panicked. He saw mutants as pigs and sheep, but he didn't dare to offend the Pentagon.

He quickly apologized to Secretary Gates and hurried over to appease his subordinates, personally apologizing to the guard. Even if he had to kill the guard's entire family later, it didn't matter, but for now, he couldn't resist. This was a serious political issue.

Daisy let out a tinkling laugh, and Nick Fury laughed a couple of times. Several generals who had always been hostile to Stryker also laughed.

Ha 💸 Ha 💸 Ha 💸 Ha 💸 Ha 💸 Ha 💸 Ha 💸 Ha 💸

Demonstrating their conflicts with Stryker was also a political move. They weren't targeting the X-Weapon Program, only Stryker personally. That was the intention of several people.

Secretary Gates showed no expression of their conflicts, staring at the two targets on the screen in a daze.

The laughter from the generals had little impact on Stryker's trio, but for the working staff in the room, the pressure was immense. Why were the generals laughing? Did they do something wrong?

They were all puzzled. In front of so many generals, they didn't know what they had done wrong, and they didn't dare to ask.

Several Army lieutenants were busy, and two female technician soldiers, who usually flirted and fawned over their superiors and always walked catwalks, were now running around like their tails were on fire. Five minutes later, Stryker returned to the meeting room, and the Chief of Staff of the Army nodded to the Secretary Gates.

"Launch."

Two "Javelin" surface-to-surface missiles were ignited and soared into the sky directly towards the targets.

On the screen, Big Brain suddenly tensed up, while Abomination roared angrily at the sky. Both of them hurriedly tried to evade into the distance, but unfortunately, the distance was short, and as per the Army's calculations, they had very little time to prepare.

A nauseating green sticky liquid appeared on Big Brain's head, and a semi-transparent energy shield enveloped him. Abomination raised his arms to protect his head, preparing to withstand the missile strikes.

The two lacked any spirit of cooperation. Big Brain's energy shield didn't cover Abomination, and Abomination didn't use his strong body to shield Big Brain. They each ran in opposite directions, running for their lives.

The missiles had tracking capabilities, so the few steps they took on the ground were inconsequential.

Two explosions appeared simultaneously on the screen, and several generals in the meeting room watched nervously for the results.

"Launch two more," the Secretary Gates' voice was calm, devoid of any emotion.

Two more missiles struck Big Brain and Abomination.

After the smoke cleared, both of them looked miserable. Big Brain's head was split open with seven or eight bloody gashes, with a large amount of brain tissue and pus flowing out. Daisy glanced at it and felt nauseous, so she turned her head to the other side.

Abomination's bone armor was still sharp. The missiles destroyed three-quarters of his bone armor, but his injuries were lighter than Big Brain's, and his self-healing ability was fast.

After a moment's hesitation, he abandoned Big Brain, his benefactor, stretched his legs and ran towards Maryland to the south.

Big Brain, covered in blood, staggered westward, one step shallow and one step deep.

"Send out troops to carry out the arrest operation, and let SHIELD and X-Weapon assist," Secretary Gates said loudly.

It was a prearranged condition, and neither side refused, but how much effort they would put in, only heaven knew.

Accompanying the famous Delta Force, Daisy and Nick Fury each took a pistol, which would be their weapons during the pursuit...

Different from the two who were ready to slack off, Ajax and Lady Deathstrike were full of pent-up anger. Now that their mutant identities were exposed, they no longer hid.

Ajax wielded an alloy axe, his wrist spinning so fast that the blade left afterimages, clearly exceeding the speed of an ordinary person. Lady Deathstrike also extended her Adamantium claws and gestured into the air.

"Freaks!" The captain of the Delta Force said with disgust.
