Chapter 82 - Security Council

===================

The vehicles traveled across the vast expanse of ice, with not even a penguin in sight.

Black Widow was driving, with Daisy, a rookie soldier sitting in the co-pilot, and two men in the back.

"Do you guys not feel cold?" To minimize the chance of being detected, they certainly wouldn't have the heating on. The inside of the car was as cold as an ice cellar, and Daisy felt like she was going to freeze. She didn't care about her image anymore and asked the three in a somewhat awkward manner.

Then, she realized she had asked a silly question. How could it not be cold! At least she had enhanced resilience to support her, but the three beside her were relatively ordinary people, enduring the cold through sheer willpower.

Daisy felt she couldn't back down. Though it was unbearably cold, relying on a nearly hypnotic self-encouragement, she managed to hold on until they reached the coordinates.

Before them was nothing but ice, with icebergs as the only other visible feature.

If they were just passing by, they wouldn't notice anything unusual. However, with doubts in mind, careful observation revealed some inconsistencies.

"The light here doesn't refract correctly." Hawkeye looked around, stating it with certainty.

The four of them huddled in a pit, acting like lunatics, pointing and studying the air.

"How can we enter without alerting the guards and take a look inside?" Braised Egg asked his confidants.

The front concealed secrets, but whether it was a Nazi base or a laboratory of some major power needed further confirmation. If they discovered it was a secret base or laboratory of some major nation, S.H.I.E.L.D. would be in trouble.

They quickly devised a plan: Hawkeye would shoot an arrow at maximum distance to attract attention, then Black Widow would set up four jamming devices to disrupt the enemy's invisibility protection. Finally, Daisy would teleport herself and a few others inside.

Three seconds later, Hawkeye shot an arrow that hit a distant iceberg, producing a loud rumble. Then, Black Widow swiftly constructed a small interference network, destroying the enemy's invisibility devices, and revealing a corner of the massive black building.

Daisy substituted a few constants into the calculation, found an apparently deserted corner, and with an action, jumped in with a few people.

Before the teleportation was complete, they drew their weapons and aimed around. Luckily for them, Daisy's calculations were very accurate, and there were no enemies nearby.

They found themselves surrounded by sturdy and heavy architectural styles. Inside a warehouse, neatly arranged on iron shelves, were various drugs and medicine.

"The style does seem to be from that era, but the drugs are modern." Black Widow surveyed the surroundings, then picked up a box of medicine, examining it under the not-so-bright light.

"Let's go outside and check, Daisy, any enemies out there?" she asked.

Daisy, who has turned into a human radar, sensed around and pointed vaguely to the northeast. "Go out and turn left through a corridor. There seem to be signs of life there, but it's a bit hard to judge, and it's a bit far."

Daisy stayed in place; with the same parameters, she could teleport them out from here again.

The three were assigned the task of reconnaissance, with them cooperating tacitly, and returned to the warehouse in less than five minutes.

Nick Fury looked relatively calm, but Black Widow and Hawkeye were excited.

It wasn't that they had a deep-seated grudge against Nazis, but in the current era, gaining recognition and advancing was challenging. Striking Nazis would be a correct move from any perspective, and naturally, they were thrilled.

Daisy teleported herself and the three back to the outside following the same string, and they quickly returned to the Snowstorm base. They removed their cold-weather gear, hopped on a fighter jet, and flew back to headquarters.

"Agent Johnson, come with me to the Security Council," Outside his office, Nick Fury stopped Daisy.

She wouldn't object to showing her face in front of the top brass. She calmly followed him into the room.

Secret doors, elevators, a special floor – Daisy walked with him for twenty minutes until they entered a spacious office with four holographic imaging devices in the center.

In less than five minutes, Alexander Pierce, the former director and current member of the Security Council, arrived at the office. He hadn't received any prior notice, whether from S.H.I.E.L.D. or Hydra, but Nick Fury had simply summoned him for a meeting.

Director Pierce felt worried, but maintained a kind expression on his face.

Seeing Daisy as a new face, he greeted her warmly, like an elder looking at a talented junior.

It had to be said that compared to Nick Fury, who wore a stern face every day, Pierce seemed much friendlier.

He greeted Daisy enthusiastically, and considering that this guy indirectly helped her retrieve the Terrigen crystal, Daisy responded politely.

Soon, the video connections were established, and the four representatives of the Security Council appeared in their respective locations.

"Commander Nick Fury, you're not here to ask the Council for more money again, are you?" A sharp-eyed bald old man spoke first, his words full of dissatisfaction.

"Yeah, where did our money go? Commander, we need to know the truth!"

"Exactly, Nick Fury, we support you in guarding the world, but you also need to be accountable to our country!"

Like a public criticism meeting, the four people, without any reservation, started criticizing Fury from start to finish. In and between their words there was a common theme- No money!

The Braised Egg had a slight smile on his lips, and this time he was finally able to look at these guys with a high moral place.

Nodding at Daisy, she quickly sent the evidence they had captured to the Council members and then handed the tablet to a confused Pierce.

The four on the screen were stunned, and Pierce wore a look of surprise.

Internal strife within Hydra was rampant, and he really had no knowledge that Nazi factions were still active.

There was no way for the two factions to communicate, let alone leak information. Besides, Hydra had separated from Nazis during the Red Skull era, and Nazis were not Hydra; they were entirely different organizations.

He quickly weighed the pros and cons in his mind, and the Council members on the screen were no longer so composed.

An elderly woman with white hair trembled in her voice. "Commander Nick Fury, these photos weren't produced by your film company to fool us, right?"

The Braised Egg chuckled a few times, and Daisy looked at him with a sidelong glance. It is estimated that this guy did have this idea at first...

"Members of the Council, these are all true and accurate on-site evidence, and I personally led my team to collect. Do you still think S.H.I.E.L.D. spends too much money? This is worth every penny!"

On the way, he and Daisy had discussed the cause of the incident. Considering that the situation in Japan had turned into a mess domestically, directly revealing the name of the Yashida Corporation can easily cause international influence and disputes.

Daisy wanted to downplay her information sources, and the Braised Egg wanted to attribute the entire matter to the tireless investigation of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. The two hit off, and Nick Fury gave Daisy a chance to perform. Promotion and a raise were small matters; now, the Nazis had become a collective achievement of S.H.I.E.L.D. under the leadership of Nick Fury!
