Chapter 83 - Command

===================

The four directors are all politicians, and it is unquestionable that they must publicly oppose Nazis.

They immediately declared their position, and unanimously passed a resolution to promptly arrest Nazi elements, executing resistors on the spot.

Several politicians expressed their hatred for the Nazis, with one even recounting how their grandfather was killed by a Nazi when he was at the age of nine. Afterward, they closed the video conference and reported the matter to influential figures in their respective countries.

Braised Egg didn't suspect that Pierce, his old buddy, was a spy. Instead, he saw it as an opportunity for the old man to gain more credit after retirement. Fury forcefully took Pierce to organize the team, preparing to raid the Antarctic Nazi base.

The two directors joined forces to issue orders, summoning all elite Level 7 and above agents stationed at headquarters.

Daisy recognized agents whom she knew such as Coulson, May, Ward, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Sitwell. There were also others she had only seen in photos, like John Garrett, Victoria Hand, and Brock Rumlow, who had not changed his name to Crossbones yet, along with a multitude of others.

"The mission timeframe is tight. I won't say much. Agent Johnson will be in charge of the specific operations," Nick Fury, as the leader, of course, couldn't lead the charge himself. Decentralization of command is not only a reward for her credits, but also a test.

Daisy quickly considered the deployment, but before she could agree, she was interrupted.

Wearing a women's suit, with red hair and square-framed glasses, Victoria Hand, a mature woman, pointed at Daisy and asked, "Who is she? If I'm not mistaken, the lowest-ranked person present is a Level 7 agent, right?"

Daisy maintained a polite smile on the surface, cursing in her mind, Old maid! Don't let me be the director. If I become the director, I'll assign you to clean the toilets!

Despite her displeasure, she couldn't confront Hand directly. After all, Hand was a Level 8 agent, a leader of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy. She wasn't Fury's confidante, nor was she aligned with Hydra; she was more of a neutral party.

Daisy glanced at the Braised Egg, observing how he would handle the situation.

Nick Fury had anticipated this: "Agent Daisy Johnson has done a great job in her missions. Director Pierce and I have approved her promotion to Level 7."

Pierce didn't know why he was dragged into it, but he didn't refuse either.

Both the still influential old director and the current director nodded simultaneously, elevating Daisy Johnson from Level 5 directly to Level 7.

While it seemed like only a two-level jump, Level 7 was a watershed. In terms of status, it placed her among the senior agents, allowing her access to much more classified information within S.H.I.E.L.D. Most agents with equal ranks also shared similar levels of authority.

Of course, there were exceptions. Daisy knew that although Hill held the position of a Level 5 agent, she actually possessed Level 8 authority. Such instances were rare, and Daisy guessed it was Braised Egg's way of protecting Hill.

With the decision already made, Hand still harbored some dissatisfaction. She felt Fury was being too childish, but she chose not to voice further objections.

Agents were interesting in the matter that the agents in the field might outrank the leaders commanding from the rear. A freshly promoted Level 7 agent like Daisy directing on-site operations wasn't too surprising.

As for on-site command, battlefield scenarios, reasonable distribution of manpower, and allocating them effectively to maximize enemy annihilation, Daisy's training in these courses was mediocre, nowhere near Hill's level.

However, having been on the scene once, prepared or unprepared, devising a tactic for total annihilation wasn't too difficult for her.

Directly teleporting people wasn't practical; teleportation had distance limitations, and she didn't want too many people to know about her abilities.

After calculating the various forces, she said, "Mr. Garrett, Agent Coulson, Agent Rumlow, lead your respective teams and head to the dock for rendezvous."

John Garrett was also a member of the Zodiac Twelve and, despite not doing exceptionally well, was still a seasoned agent. Daisy had to at least show verbal respect to him.

She then looked at the old virgin Victoria Hand and said, "Agent Hand, contact the Iliad and have them ready for battle within fifteen minutes."

"Agent Sitwell, prepare to inform governments along the way."

"Agent Barton, head over first, take control of high points, and if there are signs of the enemy trying to escape, notify me."

"Agent Romanoff, lead the tech team to set up silencers and electric nets. No enemy should be allowed to escape. Afterward, scan the above and below-ground structures. I want to see the blueprint of the enemy base in fifteen minutes."

Daisy assigned tasks based on individual strengths, but she had some concerns about the personnel on the scene.

With strong combat capabilities and high prestige, almost all capable members were Hydra-affiliated. For example, John Garrett's team had the most well-equipped and advanced weapons from S.H.I.E.L.D.

Someone like Crossbones, Brock Rumlow, led the special ops team and always charged in the front during battles. His personal combat abilities were exceptionally strong, and Daisy estimated that she couldn't beat him even without using her powers.

However, equally powerful agents like Hawkeye and Black Widow preferred solo missions, while some like Coulson, who had some leadership skills, lacked personal combat strength.

Seeing a significant number of elites being pulled into Hydra's ranks, Daisy felt it was a pity.

But she quickly shook off her thoughts and continued to assign the agents their respective tasks.

For this mission to Antarctica, they couldn't use Nick Fury's secret base, so they had to go through regular channels.

Unfortunately, S.H.I.E.L.D. didn't have a base in Antarctica, so they had to go to the S.H.I.E.L.D. base located in the Caribbean Sea, codenamed "The Dock," and board a ship from there to Antarctica.

Two hours later, the Iliad carrier set off from The Dock, circumnavigating South America on its way to the South Pole.

The current Iliad lacked anti-gravity devices and turbine engines; it was just an ordinary aircraft carrier.

On the bridge, Daisy explained the purpose of this expedition.

The old man Pierce stayed at headquarters to chat with the Braised Egg, also waiting for good news from the expedition.

At this point, several Hydra members finally learned that they were going to confront the Nazis. They spent the rest of their time inquiring with each other and found that several of them didn't know the specific information.

Crossbones, tall and sturdy, with a demeanor both righteous and sinister, as Pierce's confidante, resisted the task a bit. If he had known beforehand, he might not have come. But now that he was on the ship, he couldn't claim a sudden stomachache, could he?

He had no reason to refuse, feeling somewhat hesitant. This went against his previous style of leading from the front, but he could only silently accept this setback.

Fortunately, the Nazis didn't equate to Hydra, and the mission hadn't reached the point of forcing them to betray.

Daisy paid no attention to their cautious thoughts. On the battlefield, Nazi bullets didn't care if you were Hydra or not; either the enemy died, or you did. She believed these Hydra members could recognize the situation.

Daisy turned to the captain on the other side, asking, "Agent Hill, do you have anything to add to our operation?"

That's right, the captain of this mothership was Hill... the two of them maintained a professional demeanor.

Hill, with her light blue eyes, glanced at her and said, "Agent Johnson's assignments are well-placed. I have nothing to add."

The words were formal, but Daisy understood the meaning behind Hill's gaze. It probably meant, Baby! I haven't seen you for a few days, and now you're commanding a major operation. You're climbing up very fast!
