Chapter 7 - Their unusual exchange

MY UNUSUAL ROMANCE

Chapter 7

Eileen froze as she saw Olivia freshly went inside the room to change from her towel to her clothes. She noticed that her friend's body had already evolved into a matured lady.

They once shared a bath together, but that was when they were kids. Because time never stops to anyone, the little girl in the past has become a young woman. This kind of change to the little girl made Eileen stiff as she awkwardly turned her head left and right while Olivia was changing to her clothes.

"What are you doing in my room?" Her cold voice that makes the people around her misunderstand the meaning, only Eileen can distinguish the true denotation.

"...Your mother said I should stay in your room for a while. She's making dinner now." While saying this, she still hasn't even looked at Olivia's face.

"I see." Olivia just finished putting on her clothes and sat beside Eileen on the bed. She noticed that this idiot keeps fidgeting and refusing to make eye contact. "What's wrong? Are you okay?"

Eileen waved her hands awkwardly. "Y-yes…! Everything's fine! No need to lean closer to me…"

Damn! Even Olivia's scent is making her feel crazy! She had no idea what's currently going on with her body. She feels hot and her heart keeps pumping faster. Is this the work of hormones? Eileen could've sworn their Science teacher had discussed this topic to the class, but Eileen is a girl and Olivia is also a girl. Is that even possible? Alas, she has never been this regretful not listening to their classes

With little knowledge, she doesn't know what to do whenever her beautiful friend unintentionally seduces her. She hasn't even felt this way to Sean before. Was it because she and Olivia are so close that her hormones- or whatever that is- only responds to her? Is it normal to feel this way to your best friend? For Eileen, it isn't.

Suddenly, a cold sensation on her forehead made her flinch slightly. Olivia actually extended her arms just to check Eileen's temperature!

"Do you have a fever? I keep noticing your face somehow turns red- and you're sweating all over." She kept her hand on Eileen's forehead, occasionally wiping her sweat.

"I'm fine! The room is just too hot! Maybe that's why I'm sweating?" Eileen pretends to fan herself because of the heat (which is true) and keeps avoiding Olivia's touch.

"Just take a bath after dinner. You can borrow my clothes for the meantime." Olivia said.

"W-what? No need..! I'll just take a bath when I get home."

"No, I insist." Olivia said resolutely. "Stay here for a night if you want. I'll just tell your parents."

"Ah, it's been so long since we've had a sleepover… Let's do it!" Eileen's tense body slowly relaxes as she reminisces their past.

Olivia nodded and was about to say something when a lady in her forties yelled from the kitchen. "Girls! Dinner is ready!"

.....

After a hearty meal, Eileen immediately took a shower and borrowed Olivia's clothes. Just as she was about to lounge herself on the bed, her once relaxed body has now become tense. A realization hits her hard…

She's supposed to share the bed with Olivia.

"Hey, are you done?" The person in question asked.

Eileen turned around stiffly as she saw Olivia entering the bed. "Yeah… You don't mind me borrowing your clothes for a while, right…?"

"I don't mind." She walked past through Eileen and sat on the edge of the bed.

Eileen stood in front of her rigidly, the atmosphere screams of quietness. The two haven't said a thing or two, making things so awkward.

"Why are you just standing there?" Olivia finally breaks the silence.

"No reason…"

"Usually, you talk about various things. What happened?"

"I just don't have anything to talk to.."

"..."

Eileen heard her sigh. "Whatever, let's just sleep early." She picks up a blanket and covers herself in it, gesturing Eileen to sleep beside her.

Although reluctantly, Eileen finally lies down beside Olivia. The room is pitch dark and reeks of a sweet scent, belonging to the owner of this room. Since the bed is for one person only, the two have to stick their bodies closer. Eileen can feel the other's body heat from their touch, including the other's soft breathing that permeates through the air. Both of them are still wide awake.

"Eileen."

"Yeah..?"

"...I can see you're very uncomfortable lying there. You might fall from the bed."

Indeed, half of Eileen's body is on the bed, while the other half lies dangling in the air.

"Haha..! You're right. The bed is just too small, so…"

Olivia turns her head to face Eileen. "Let's sleep with our bodies facing each other."

"What?? No, it's alright! I'm okay here!"

"No questions asked. Just get on with it."

Afraid of Olivia's outburst, she has no choice but to comply.

They shifted to another position where they could fit in one singular bed. When Eileen almost fell from the bed, Olivia immediately caught her through the waist and firmly locked her in place. It seemed like Olivia was hugging her like those couples in the movies where they're sleeping together in a scarcely spaced bed. At least, the bed fits for the two of them now that they're facing each other.

The two remained in this position until the break of dawn. Fortunately, Olivia slept well. Unfortunately, Eileen couldn't even sleep a wink. Olivia's hands on hers distracted her from sleep.

They began eating their breakfast then changed to school uniforms. Olivia's mother washed Eileen's uniform just yesterday night, With the help of technology, her uniform was dried in no time.

"Be careful on your way to school, girls. Eileen, send regards to your parents from me, okay?" The woman said.

"Thank you, Mrs. Laurier! Of course, I'll send your regards to them." Eileen smiled.

"Oh and please, visit more often Eileen. Olivia sure is lonely without you here…" Mrs. Laurier chuckled.

"Mom… We'll get going now." Olivia said.

"Alright, alright… Be a good girl you two."

"Good bye, Mrs. Laurier!"

They wave their hands good bye as they carry on with their lives.
