Blue and purple fruit sat in the hand of Liam. Looking down bright and luminous colors beaded off his hands. Throwing one of the fruit into the air, his toss landed right before a small squirrel. The fruit hit the ground testing a hand's reach away from the squirrel, and as quickly as it landed the squirrel grabbed it up and ate it.
"So —-" as Liam's sarcastic remark was about to be realized out in the wild, The squirrel started violently convulsing.
"It worked" Liam Stated calmly
"It only took twenty of them" Liam continued
"Be grateful" Lurue responded passive aggressively
"I have a pounding headache"
"You'll be fine" Liam casually dismissed her.
"Can you take using one more instance of your Vow Lurue" Liam asked her
"Yes I might as well" She responded
Crushing up the berries of the same type Liam muddled them together into a paste. He spread the paste along some fallen leaves before wrapping them into a ball. With multiple of these poisonous pellets Liam can hope to catch if not disable Tethyr. With low doses and depending on Tethyr's body weight one can't hope for him to be completely paralyzed however any amount of his senses being dampened is a win. As a Beautiful albino squirrel stood in front of him he handed a ball of the poison to the animal and as he watched it scurry off he turned to Lurue.
In a totally Zen-like state Lurue sat on the ground with blank eyes and soulless eyes she looked almost possessed. Perhaps that is not too far from the truth, maybe that is in fact the reality.
"Are we borrowing the power? Or are we becoming the power itself?"
For absolute power corrupts absolutely.
==============================
Watching as the squirrel finally returned from the last trip of disposing the poison pellets into the camp's wells Liam watched as Lurue snapped back to reality.
"Are you ready—" Liam began to spout
However Lurue's response was not anticipated as as quickly as she began to rise she quickly began to fall. Hitting against the ground hard enough to kick up dust was Lurue's dead weight. Rushing to try to soften the blow Liam was just a little too far to catch her. Making sure that she didn't injure her head he turned her body over. Running his hand along the back of her head he scanned for gashes and cuts, only able to find a large bump beginning to grow from the trauma she had from the fall. Scanning his hand he found no blood which allowed him to sigh in relief.
Picking her up to place her on his shoulder gave him some unwanted deja-vu. Glancing down at the hole still in his pants caused him to scan his previous wound. Undamaged and smooth skin rested on his flesh which is obviously due to his Vow. Remembering not to bank on this power always working he placed Lurue on the ground in the cave.
Setting out from jerky from his bag he placed it by her side before leaving and heading to the outpost. Sword on waste and dagger securely tucked in his shoes he marched forward ready for war as he always was. As a cooling and relaxing state rushed through his mind he ready himself for his next battle.
The sun began to fall and as dusk welcomed the world to a darkening night sky Liam basked in the sounds of the wildlife. Flames of ambition and resolve raged in his eyes as his mission became ever so clear.
REVENGE.
