Chereads / A Spy's Rise to Stardom / Chapter 15 - 15 Livestream

Chapter 15 - 15 Livestream

Today was the sixth day. They had probably gathered enough footage for eleven episodes by now with how much the staff had wrung out of them.

They only had a couple more days left before the show would be over, and Jungsu couldn't help but think that he would miss the sort of vacation he was on. Once he returned back to the real world, he would have to help Officer Hyun-su with unraveling the crimes of Kangsoo Entertainment's Director Kang Haeun. Though, Jungsu wasn't sure how exactly he would end up connecting with Kang Haeun, Hyun-su had told him not to worry about it.

Today would be stretched into a three part episode as the staff had given everyone the task of live streaming to get as many users to watch the show as possible. It would both be advertising for the show, and providr comedic elements to the show. They hadn't disclosed the prize yet, but Jungsu assumed it would be large.

They had just given them the go signal, and many other contestants had already started live streaming. Jungsu, however, was not sure what to do. He was not one to talk to a camera so freely, nor was he entertaining enough to keep the audience engaged.

Yeong-cheol jumped towards him while he was talking to the camera and shoved the camera in Jungsu's face, causing him to grimace.

"Jungsu! You haven't started filming yet? My Jungsu is shy guys, he doesn't know what to do. But here's some free service while you wait for his livestream."

Yeong-cheol turned the camera towards Jungsu and simply stood there, capturing Jungsu in the sunlight as he pondered on what he should do. Jungsu glared at him from the corner of his eyes and moved to grab the camera, but Yeong-cheol darted away, laughing.

As Jungsu was once again alone, he thought of what people would want to watch. Then he decided to simply start the live stream and ask them.

"Ah. Is this working? How do I even know if people will watch it or not? How will they find me?"

The chat blew up in a matter of seconds as messages started flooding in.

Jungsu raised his brows in surprise at the number of people pouring in.

"Hello. My name is Jungsu. I was hoping you guys would let me know what it is you would like me to do." He pressed his lips together and looked at the chat with a grim look on his face.

Responses started pouring in.

What is he? Why the hell is the camera quality so bad? Is he poor or something?

What do you mean what we would like you to do?

You don't want the answer to that.

But why does he look so serious? Kekekeke! I'm dying of laughter!

Jungsu read some of the messages before the chat was flooded with them and started moving too quickly.

"Should I read a poem?" Jungsu scratched the back of his head in confusion.

What the hell do you think we are, children?!

OMG... he's so cute.

Should we say yes? I feel like saying yes. Look at the confusion in his eyes! Let's put him out of his misery!

No!! I have a feeling that he'll keep going if we give him the yes. No. No way. Don't do the poem.

Jungsu frowned, then bit his lips in thought.

Yes. Keep doing that.

Perfect. You're doing great.

Kekekeke! Look at the confusion on his face! Guys stop saying that kind of stuff, he's gonna catch on!

Jungsu stopped, and then opened his mouth to ask again, "What is a normal live streaming activity? Should I make food?" Then he shook his head in denial. "No, I'm not good at cooking."

Do the human flag!

Do you even know how hard that is? How old are you?

He literally climbed down a building.

You have to train specific muscles for that. You can't just be strong. It requires core strength, arms, shoulders, back... not just anyone can do it.

"Ah. Okay." Looking around, Jungsu held the phone in one hand as he walked into the villa and headed downstairs to the basement. The basement had a large training room that Jungsu had frequented for a little bit in the mornings. Still he rarely used it as he spent most of his time training in the forest, away from the cameras. He'd convinced the staff to let him go on long walks without disturbance. One of the conditions he had placed in order to keep the cameras he had found a secret.

Hey, did he just say okay?

Why the hell is he so nonchalant about this? I don't know why this guy is pissing me off.

Same. If he isn't able to do it, i'm gonna literally flip. But if he does... I'm also gonna be pissed.

Wth is wrong with you?

Jungsu, oblivious to the comments, set the phone down on the tripod he had been given, and walked up next to the weights rack.

You're telling me he's gonna try to do the human flag on that? Isn't that kinda hard?

Yeah, wouldn't the grip be all messed up? It's better to find a pole.

But where the hell is he gonna find a pole??

Who the hell suggested this?!

Jungsu moved towards the rack and shook it, testing to see if it could hold his weight. Then he gripped the stand and pushed his body up the the side so that he was floating in the air like a flag. He was so stable in his position, however, that viewers thought he was more of a statue than a flag.

Then the comments started flooding in as he stayed there for ten seconds before dropping and heading towards the camera, not a sign of struggle on his face.

Why the hell does he look like he just came back from a walk?

Yeeah. I swear he looks more refreshed. He probably could've held out longer. I wonder how long....

Jungsu looked at the livestream and saw that the user Callme_mommy had donated him honey.

"What...is honey?"

It's basically money. You can convert it later.

Jungsu nodded his head in understanding and bowed his head and thanked the user for their donation.

Then more donations started flooding in like crazy along with more requests.

Take your shirt off, and I'll donate 500,000 won.

What are you trying to make him into?? A stripper??

This is too funny. My mom is also watching this with me. She's ready to throw in another 500,000 for it.

Jungsu felt his eyes widen at the comments causing more uproar and laughter. He forced himself to relax as he realized they must have been messing with him.

"I can give book recommendations. If anyone is interested."

Nope. I don't want your recs.

Let's hear him out. Maybe if we tell him what category we want it from, he will give us good recs?

Reading the comments, Jungsu asked, "What genre do you want?"

Give us mystery, or horror!

Yes, I second that.

"Then I would recommend The Picture of Dorian Gray. I think it probably has a translated version. It's about a beautiful man who doesn't age, yet his portrait reflects the darkness within him."

Okay, that sounds interesting, right? But why is he recommending english books? Did he stay abroad? Is he actually rich?

yeah, my english sucks. But there's probably a translation.

Guys, I read that book in my English course in University....

Why the hell is he recommending those type of books??

Somebody tell him to stop the recommendations.

Jungsu closed his mouth, then opened it once more to ask again, "Then what should I do?" sounding very confused and lost.

Just be normal. Do what you usually do, we'll just watch.

Man. Look at that face. Let's stop stressing him out.

"Okay." Jungsu nodded his head and grabbing the phone, moved back upstairs to the backyard and started walking in the direction of the forest. As he started walking into the forest, the staff called out to him, but Jungsu simply ignored them and continued forward.

As he stepped around roots and ducked under branches, he ignored the phone that was now father away from him as he had extended it on the tripod, that was now a selfie stick.

As Jungsu kept walking, there was now a temporary pair of cat ears on his head.

Yah! Who gifted him the cat ears?"

Yes, who was it...?

Whoever it was... bless your soul.

Then eventually the cat ears disappeared and the viewers all collectively mourned the loss. But just as quickly, bunny ears appeared over Jungsu's head as he stepped around a tree.

Hahahaha! Why the hell is this so entertaining?

Keep it coming guys! We need to make our Prince Jungsu pretty for the world. The poor guys doesn't know how to entertain people, we need to help him!

A squirrel scurried up a tree behind him, coming far too close to his head.

The chat exploded as they tried warning Jungsu.

Behind you! Squirrel!

What is he, a squirrel whisperer?

Jungsu had already heard the sounds on the tree, but he glanced behind him to see why the sound had stopped near his head.

He came face to face with the squirrel, who simply starred into his eyes for an uncomfortable period. Then the squirrel leapt onto Jungsu's shoulder, and he leaned away to ward of the squirrel from climbing him further.

Meanwhile in the chat...

What the hell???!!

Holy sh*tttt!!! We got that on camera!!

Okay... it's official. He's a squirrel whisperer.

My sister wants to marry a weird squirrel whisperer.

Hey! Squirrel whispering is a serious and demanding job!

Outside the chat, the squirrel was now sniffing Jungsu's neck while Jungsu simply narrowed his eyes at the squirrel.

"I don't have any food." He said.

The squirrel simply looked at him, then proceeded to climb up his face, towards his ears. Jungsu flinched as he felt the squirrels breath along with its soft fur in his ear.

"That's not a good place for hibernation." He said grimly.

The comments were mixed between hysteria and laughter.

Did you catch that! He flinched because of a squirrel!

He must be ticklish.

The squirrel then climbed on top of Jungsu's head and sat down. Jungsu exhaled for a moment. Then he moved forward.

He's moving! It's just sitting there while he's walking!!

The squirrel was indeed just sitting on Jungsu's head while moving its head around as if monitoring the area.

Jungsu glanced into the camera and was startled by the two cat ears on his head. Looking at the camera incredulously, he quickly looked away, but the users had spotted the look on his face.

The amount of gifts only increased tenfold from there.

Jungsu kept walking until he stopped in front of a tall and beautiful tree. Deciding that the viewers would enjoy the view, he decided to climb the tree.

As he grabbed onto the tree with one hand and pulled himself up, his other hand held onto the selfie stick. Jungsu's movements were so stable that not once did the squirrel move to jump off his head.

And so the viewers watched silently in disbelief as Jungsu nimbly climbed the tree with one hand, carrying a squirrel on his head.

Once Jungsu had climbed high enough, he sat down on the thick branch and turned the camera to show the view to the viewers.

How high did he climb?!!!

Yeah, this is pretty high. The view from here is really pretty tho.

Jungsu looked around him to appreciate the orange and red leaves of the surrounding trees. He could almost see all of the villa from here.

"You guys should try this every morning. Catching the early sunrise on a tree is a very peaceful feeling."

Is he crazy? Every morning?!

That's not what's crazy! He wants us to climb a tree!

Sorry Jungsu, we are not that fit.

Jungsu stayed there for a couple more minutes, turning the camera towards him to find himself startled by the elephant nose on his face. Ignoring the camera, he looked towards the sun, breathing in the clean, cool air.

For a moment, the viewers stopped sending gifts to simply soak in the relaxed expression on Jungsu's face. Along with that of the squirrel on his head.

Jungsu, realizing that the squirrel was still on his head, slowly reached up to grab it. The squirrel was surprisingly compliant, and let himself be handled by Jungsu.

Jungsu placed him down on the branch and said,

"Don't follow me now. This is your habitat. Stay away from humans. You're lucky I'm not a poacher."

Well that was rather aggressive.

Did he just threaten the squirrel?!

I'm crying right now.

The squirrel simply stared back at Jungsu and watched as he swiftly climbed down, jumping off the last branch.

Waving goodbye to the squirrel, he made his way back to the villa, pointing out a couple of insects along the way and describing their functions.

Thank you for the zoology lesson, professor.

Yes, thank you sensei.

Jungsu finally stepped inside the villa and found everyone had already stopped live streaming.

Quickly waving goodbye to his viewers, Jungsu ended the live despite the protests.

Approaching the contestants who were frowning on the couch while looking at him, he asked, "What happened? Why did everyone stop their lives?"

"You happened, Jungsu." Ae-ri pouted.

Jungsu frowned in question and Yuri elaborated, "You already won. Nobody wanted to watch our lives when you were climbing a tree with a squirrel on your head." She huffed.

Jungsu nodded in understanding, feeling that he might have overdone his job.

Bowing his head, he said "I'm sorry."

"It's fine. I had fun watching it too." Yuri grinned, meanwhile Dong-ha who would've won had a squirrel not jumped on Jungsu's head, grumbled under his breath.

"Excellent work Jungsu! I can't tell you how happy I am right now with the number of viewers you got!" Bo-mi exclaimed.

Jungsu dipped his head at her compliment.

"For your earth-shattering efforts, you will get a very, very special prize!" Bo-mi grinned.

Suddenly, Jungsu felt that he didn't want the reward.

"Not only will you have another day out, but this time.... you will be photographed for a perfume commercial!"

Jungsu blinked as he wasn't sure if he'd heard right under the cheers that erupted for him.
