Chapter 2 - 2. What a family

After getting out of the spiritual pool, Lu Ningfei cursed that he will never ever take a bath in cursed pool again.

If you want to cleanse someone, you can be polite or at least keep the pain level minimum ok?

Lu Ningfei got dressed and looked at his reflection while passing over his glance and was stunned on spot.

Huh?

This smooth skin, so white and shiny. These dark obsidian black hair, what a nice scent, Like a still lake.

Lu Ningfei was a lover of beauty but he liked himself to be beautiful not the others.

So when he wrote novel, only his main characters were most beautiful.

And since he was gay and even a bottom, his all characters were set as bottom and gay, though they had no loveline in all his novels because they were beautiful alone.

Heh.

After getting out of the space, he looked at the time and decided to meet the lawyer tomorrow.

According to his memories, the Apocalypse started after 2 months in 20th of July. It was still early April and he had quite some time to prepare things and since he has space with quite a lot of place to put things, he had decided to make a long list.

He might just need anything.

Lu Ningfei walked home and looked at the gloomy family of three sitting over on the couch like they were Royal Family waiting for him to kneel before them.

At the head of the table sat Si Qian, the biological father of this body. The man's handsome face was marred by a permanent sneer, a look of superiority that Lu Ningfei instantly despised. Beside him, perched like a queen on her throne, was Zhen Weiyi, the stepmother, with her delicately arranged hair and venomous eyes. Her hand rested on the arm of her son, Si Qin, a young man who oozed the same false nobility as his mother. They were picture-perfect—Jokers.

The second Lu Ningfei entered the room, their eyes snapped to him. The atmosphere shifted from dismissive to predatory in an instant.

"Ah, Ningfei," Si Qian drawled, leaning back in his chair as if this entire scenario amused him.

"You're back. We were just talking about you."

"Were you?"

Lu Ningfei replied, his tone dripping with disinterest. He had no intention of playing along with whatever game they thought they were about to start. His previous life had taught him that power games were only entertaining if both sides were equally matched—and he was more than prepared to even the odds.

Si Qian's smile didn't reach his eyes as he waved a hand toward the empty seat across from him.

"Sit down. We have some important matters to discuss."

Si Qian cleared his throat, cutting through the tension.

"As you know, the family's assets are in a precarious state, and we need to secure them properly. It's best for everyone if we ensure the property under your name is... properly managed. We thought it would be a good idea to transfer it to someone more experienced."

Lu Ningfei almost laughed at the thinly veiled suggestion. They weren't even trying to be subtle about wanting to strip him of his assets. He knew the plot of this novel well enough to understand what was happening. This so-called father of his wasn't asking—he was demanding, expecting obedience like the dutiful son he never was.

"'We'?"

Lu Ningfei echoed, raising an eyebrow.

"And who exactly does 'we' refer to?"

Zhen Weiyi interjected, her voice as sweet as poisoned honey.

"Your family, of course, We only have your best interests at heart, dear."

Lu Ningfei gave her a long, hard look before his gaze shifted back to Si Qian.

"If I recall correctly, these properties were inherited from my mother. I'm not sure how they suddenly became a 'family' concern."

Si Qian's expression tightened, the veneer of friendliness cracking just slightly.

"Ningfei, don't be difficult. We're trying to keep everything in the family, where it belongs."

Lu Ningfei leaned back in his chair, folding his arms across his chest. He is getting bored of this already. Just what are his sins that they can't be washed in two lives and such a family is also provided to him?

"And what exactly do you plan to do with my properties once they're 'in the family,' as you so kindly put it?"

Si Qin, who had been silent until now, leaned forward, a smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth.

"You wouldn't understand, Ningfei. Managing property and wealth isn't something you're accustomed to. It's best left to those of us who know how to handle it."

This little mouse has a long tongue like a snake. What a disgusting creature.

"Is that so?"

Lu Ningfei drawled, his tone bored.

"And here I was, thinking that squandering money and embezzling funds were your specialties, not mine."

Si Qin's smirk faltered, replaced by a glare.

"Watch your mouth!"

"Why?" Lu Ningfei said, tilting his head in mock curiosity.

"It's not like anything valuable ever comes out of yours."

Zhen Weiyi's eyes narrowed, her carefully controlled composure slipping just a fraction.

"We are trying to help you, Ningfei. Don't make this more difficult than it needs to be."

Lu Ningfei let out a soft, derisive laugh.

"Help me? Is that what you call it? Funny, it feels more like a shakedown."

Si Qian's patience was visibly wearing thin.

"Enough of this nonsense. You're going to sign the papers. We can't afford to waste any more time."

Lu Ningfei stared at him for a long moment, his expression unreadable. Then, without warning, he burst into a smile—a wide, mocking grin that sent chills down their spines.

"Ok I agree, But I have a condition."

Lu Ningfei said, his voice silky smooth.

The three were stunned they were prepared to fight long war with Lu Ningfei but just a few words and he agreed?

Si Qian quickly asked him before he changes his mind.

"What is it, Tell me quickly!"

Lu Ningfei smiled.

"In 2 months when my summer vacations are over, I will transfer the company to you name, How about it?"

Si Qin wanted to say that it is sooner or later does it matter but Zhen Weiyi glared at him and shut his mouth.

Si Qian agreed.

"Ok 2 months are 2 months. Don't forget your words."

Lu Ningfei nodded. He stood up and went upstairs, finally can sleep!
