Chapter 5 - 5. Buying-2

He began his preparations by renting several warehouses scattered across the country. These warehouses were essential—each one would temporarily store his purchases before he transferred everything to his spiritual space under the cover of night. The owners of the warehouses were slightly puzzled but didn't question him too much—after all, money spoke louder than words, and Ningfei had a lot of it.

With everything set up, Lu Ningfei embarked on his first shopping spree, intent on purchasing everything he could possibly need for the apocalypse. He started with basic necessities—food, water, and medical supplies—before moving on to more specialized items.

Lu Ningfei's first stop was a wholesale food supplier in one of the city's industrial districts.

As he approached the counter, the manager, a burly man with a graying beard, eyed him curiously.

"I need to place a bulk order."

Lu Ningfei began, offering a charming smile.

"A really, really big bulk order."

The manager arched an eyebrow.

"How big are we talking?"

Lu Ningfei handed over a list.

"I'll need 1,000 cases of canned vegetables, 1,000 cases of canned fruits, 1,000 cases of canned meats, and the same for soups and beans. Oh, and throw in 1,000 packs of rice, pasta, and other grains. Also, I'll take 1,000 packs of freeze-dried meals and 1,000 packs of dehydrated vegetables and fruits."

The manager blinked, clearly stunned.

"Are you opening a supermarket or something?"

Ningfei grinned, leaning in slightly as if to share a secret.

"Exactly, But I am going to open a big mall."

The manager chuckled, shaking his head in disbelief.

"Well, that's a new one. Alright, kid, let's get you sorted."

The transaction took several hours, with forklifts loading up multiple trucks destined for one of Ningfei's rented warehouses. The total bill came to approximately 6 Million for the food alone—an astronomical sum, but just a drop in the bucket for Ningfei.

That evening, after the sun had set and the city had quieted down, Ningfei slipped into the warehouse.

The security was basic, just a few cameras that he easily avoided. One by one, he transferred the pallets of food into his spiritual space, which absorbed them without so much as a whisper.

By midnight, the warehouse was empty, and Ningfei was already planning his next purchase.

The next day he went to buy frozen goods, Instant noodles, soup, rice dishes, meat etc.

Raw rice, pasta, wheat and other things.

All this cost him 5 Million and he quickly sent the address to his warehouse and went to shopping.

Lu Ningfei headed to a large medical supply distributor.

The warehouse was clinical and sterile, with aisles lined with everything from bandages to surgical equipment. The manager, a stern woman in her fifties, looked over her glasses at Ningfei as he presented his order.

"I'll need 1,000 first aid kits, 1,000 packs of surgical masks, 1,000 bottles of disinfectant, and enough antibiotics to treat a small army."

Lu Ningfei stated confidently.

"Oh, and don't forget 1,000 sets of surgical tools, sutures, IV kits, and, well, pretty much anything you'd find in an emergency room."

The woman frowned, clearly trying to figure out what kind of operation he was running.

"Are you supplying a hospital chain? Because this is a lot of gear for just one facility."

Ningfei gave her a sheepish smile.

"No, no. I'm organizing the world's largest disaster response drill. We're simulating a city-wide emergency, and we need to be prepared for anything. You know how it is—better safe than sorry!"

The woman's expression softened slightly.

"That's commendable. Alright, we can have everything delivered within the week."

This time, the bill was around 10 Million. Again, Ningfei arranged for the supplies to be delivered to his warehouses. That night, he made his rounds, transferring all the medical supplies into his spiritual space. He couldn't help but feel a surge of satisfaction as the supplies vanished into his endless storage—he was building a fortress, one that would keep him alive no matter what.

Lu Ningfei ordered many things online and also ordered many things from street snack shops.

1000s of Fried Dough Sticks, Soy Milk, Steamed Buns (filled with meat or vegetables), Sesame Flatbread, Scallion Pancakes, Sticky Rice Dumplings (wrapped in bamboo leaves), Steamed Buns (plain, without filling), Soup Dumplings, Silken Tofu Pudding (often served sweet), Stir-Fried Noodles, Rice Noodle Soup, Stuffed Savory Pancakes etc

The space had the function of keeping things fresh so he had to run around various street shops and order them and run to get the finished orders.

He also remembered that he had to buy weapons and clothes and solar panels, furniture, electronics...

The list is long and 5 days has already passed.

Lu Ningfei bought all sorts of foods on whichever street he went and gave orders in 1000s.

Burger (meat-filled flatbread), Shaved Ice Dessert (topped with sweet syrups, fruits, and beans), Preserved and often salted or sweetened plums, Century Eggs (preserved eggs with a unique flavor, often eaten with tofu or congee) etc.

He went to stores to buy snacks in all flavors and cold drinks like cola.

Then he remembered that alcoholic drinks can also be used as currency in the apocalypse and quickly went to buy all sorts of beverages.

In the last 8 days, he had spent 23 Million without blinking an eye.

Then he went abroad, to buy weapons and more medicines.

He visited a military surplus store run by an old war veteran, a grizzled man with more stories than teeth. The walls were lined with guns, ammunition, and various military paraphernalia.

Lu Ningfei approached the counter with a confident stride.

The underworld of this country was famous for having many military items

"I need to place a large order—about 100 handguns, 100 rifles, 10 or so shotguns, and enough ammo to match. Oh, and throw in a few dozen crossbows and a couple of hundred combat knives for good measure."

The gangster's eyes widened, and he leaned in, clearly intrigued.

"You planning to arm a private army, son?"

Lu Ningfei had cold look.

"Nothing like that. I'm starting a weapons museum, and I want the biggest collection in the country. It's going to be a tourist attraction, and I want people to see the full range of weaponry throughout history."

The man grinned, clearly taken with the idea.

"Now that's something I can get behind! Let's get you stocked up."

The weapons were delivered to yet another warehouse, with a total cost of 20 Million. That night, as the city slept, Ningfei once again made his rounds, transferring the entire arsenal into his spiritual space. He could feel the weight of the weapons, the cold steel and deadly precision, as they disappeared into the void.
