It was a rainy night with thunderstorm all around the city. Clouds covered the night sky, masking the city in darkness.
Bittu was resting in his mansion since his college years has come to an end. He has graduated.
In his bedroom, he was listening to some music after coming out of a bath when suddenly he heard some noise coming from the front door of his mansion.
He didn't know what happened. He moved to see what was going on, but the moment he reached the door, someone bumped into him.
He was taken aback, and the surprise almost made him fall. He stopped himself and, while doing so, he instinctively caught the waist of the one who bumped into him.
A moment later, he realised that the one who bumped into him was Olivia. He saw her clutching his shirt, her head low. She looked vulnerable. Worry instantly consumed his mind when he saw her like this.
"Olivia, what happened?", he asked, worried sick since she was all wet and her body felt cold. It seemed like she came here running in this terrible weather, not caring about her health at all.
".....", she did not respond, instead leaned in closer for a hug. Bittu, not pressing her to speak, stayed silent as he pulled her into a proper hug. He could feel her crying, which felt like sharp blades thrust straight in his heart a million times. But he stayed silent until she calmed down.
He stayed like that, with her in his embrace, until she was ready to talk.
"Bittu, I want a favor.", Olivia said, her voice low and powerless.
"What is it?", he asked after some time. He didn't like the fact that her voice was filled with sadness and grief.
"Do you promise to help me?", she asked, her voice desperate, laking the warmth that it always had, as if he was her last hope.
"....Yes, so tell me what's wrong?", he said ,his voice soft and comforting, patiently waiting for her to say what happened out loud.
However, his eyes were anything but calm. Fury and madness were brewing in them like never before. He was holding himself back from urging her to let him know the name of the person who did this to her. He was going to let them know going to hell would be but a relief than what they would suffer to make his Olivia cry.
"Even if it's something ridiculous?", she asked, her voice a bare whisper and her eyes dim since she felt that he would reject her since she hasn't even agreed to his proposal until now and when she felt the hug break while also not hearing him say anything for a moment she felt a bit disappointed even though she felt that it would likely be the result.
'That's right, why will he do that for me when I am practically no one to him at the moment?', she thought as she felt herself plunge in despair. However, right before her eyes lost their light as her heart felt cold, his answer made her moved as tears once again filled her eyes.
Bittu broke the hug and kept both his hands on her shoulder and said with a serious face, "Even if it's something impossible! "
"R-Really?!", she said, shuttering with a hint of happiness in her eyes, her head still looking at his chest.
"....."
Suddenly, Bittu grabbed her chin and raised her head and looked straight in her teary eyes and said with a assuring smile, "Yeah, so now tell me, what do you need?"
Looking at his smile, that was filled with warmth and care, contradictory to his usual cold demeanor, reassured her. She felt the turmoil in her heart calm down. However, a slight blush covered her cheeks when she saw how close they were with each other. She tried to pull herself away, but his strong grip didn't let her run away from him like all the other times.
Unable to break free, she could only resign to her fate. With a lot of hesitation and a bit of difficulty, she took out some papers from her purse and said, "Can you sign these papers?"
Bittu gazed at her silently for a while when he heard her. He didn't expect it to be something like this. He lowered his head to look at the papers, but he was confused to see that the paper was actually blank. Totally blank, with nothing written on it.
"Are you sure these are the ones you want me to sign?", Bittu said, skeptical about the situations.
Olivia, finding the chance to break free from his grip when he looked at the blank paper, said nervously, her voice filled with hesitation," Yes. You need to sign here."
"....."
Bittu knew the consequences of sighing a blank paper and giving it to others. It could be an immense problem for him in the future, but he didn't hesitate for even a second and said, "Okay."
He went inside the room and brought out a pen and then, looking at her, signed the paper.
Olivia, who saw all this, felt guilt consume her heart since she was being extremely unreasonable to ask him of his signature on a blank paper. However, if she doesn't, then those people will surely kill her father.
Earlier in the morning, a phone call was made to her family from them that her father had been kidnapped and if she wanted him alive, then she would have to bring them a signature of anyone in her contact who was rich until tonight.
At first, she thought it was a prank and ignored it but, when no calls were received by her father till noon, she got worried and decided to report it to the police however just after two hours she was told that no such phone calls were made to her and she was talking non-sense. At first, she didn't know why the police were doing this to her. She felt wronged and hate for the government right at that moment.
After that, she asked her relatives and friends for help. However, none of them helped her and most didn't even meet her. On that day she truly knew how fragile human relationship was and in tough times the only one who is there for us is ourself and no other.
It was already late in the evening and she still hadn't gotten a call from her dad. However, those guys once again called her and gave her a time limit till ten pm. She panicked and didn't know whom else to ask help from. She was truly thinking why couldn't they just ask for money, then she could have collected it with the help of others but a signature? Who would even agree to something like that?
Having nowhere to go. She walked aimlessly in the rainy night with her dull eyes.
When she regained her senses, she found herself in his place. She didn't know how she got to this place, but a spark of fire flickered in her heart when she realised that this was his house. She got inside the mansion immediately, and here she was.
She could have faked a signature and given it to them but the whole day she felt someone tailing her and from how the police reacted she knew that these kidnappers were some big people hence to show them she got his signature she was here but now she will give them a fake one and wait for the police to show up because if they arrive and see it for themselves then they would definitely take action if they couldn't before because of pressure from high ups.
But right now she couldn't tell all this to him at all. If he were her boyfriend, she would have, but when she purposed that they date first, he rejected the idea and said that he would only marry and not date her. His reasoning being that only after marriage could they truly love each other and live the special occasions together.
Bittu could have asked her what this was for and why was she like this but seeing the guilt and hesitation in her. He decided to do something else; tail her. Then he would come to know what happened and help her.
He handed her the paper. Olivia, though, didn't take the paper immediately. She clutched her clothes with both her hands with her head down, unable to take the paper. She felt conflicted.
"Olivia, take it.", Bittu said with a sigh when he saw her like this. If she didn't hurry, then how would he know what truly happened? He put the paper in her hand.
"....."
Olivia still didn't leave and instead said as she raised her head and looked at his face, "Bittu.... Don't you wanna know what happened?"
"Do you wanna tell me?", Bittu asked instead. Olivia turned silent, since she couldn't bring herself to drag him into this mess.
"...."
"See, so don't push yourself and just go and do what you need to.", Bittu said with a sigh and an encouraging voice.
Olivia could now only turn around and go to the place she was told to go at.
Bittu watched her leave the mansion, and the moment she left his sight. He immediately went into his room and got inside a secret room. There he changes his clothes and aes himself with all shorts of weapons, from guns to knives and grenades.
Being read, he looked at himself in the mirror. He sucked in a deep breath and said, " I just hope that you will be there." And then he vanished from the room and followed her along with his butler, who was already tailing her.
Unaware, Olivia, taking the taxi, arrived in an abandoned factory and set inside it.
Bittu, from a distance, saw her disappear into the darkness and the shadows of the factory.
