Chapter 112 - Karmanor Atreus

Amy made a promise to reveal what she, and by that she meant Boris and Alabaster, discovered. So, she stood there, watching the poltergeist struggle a bit more and then froze upon noticing her. With a scowl on his face, he began yelling incoherently at her. Amy stood there watching him struggle for a bit with a deadpan look.

"You are an enigma. You are not a spirit, but you are also neither dead nor alive. You're a ghost that can exist here with just your own power. I was curious why but after a year of searching, I finally figured it out. Your motives. Your identity. And your Past." she said then everyone is staring at her as she deliberately creates suspense, "Karmanor Atreus"

The figure became too angry to the point of being animalistic and tries to claw at her. But his rage is what she wants. The angrier he gets, the more magic he burns off.

Other than Alabaster, who provided insight and Boris, who provided analytical evidence, she also got the help from Lysander due to his extensive knowledge in the history of his own country.

"You are from an extinct noble family in Karnei. You dealt with a lot of struggles within the nobility due to your views. Your family was instrumental in the Territorial and cultural dispute prior to the Treaty of Two Sands. After the treaty, you continued to defy the peace that King Terrius has worked hard to create so you were executed."

Those who are listening are intrigued by the story.

"At least that was the official story." She finished. "In reality, you were originally a good minister, a caring man who care about everyone. This flip-flop attitude is unlike you. If I knew my history, there was a civil war with many opinions that could've led to war. You are a traditionalist. You want to preserve the traditions of Karnei that makes your land unique. You were kept in an unfortunate situation and your political opponents killed you and your entire family, left you to die, dishonored your name and thus your legacy is tarnished forever. If that isn't bad enough, your entire line is dead, and your family name is extinct. I talked to Lysander Doukas. I presented the evidence and enough proof to clear your name and restore your previous honors. He promised to find your body and give it a proper burial. In fact," Amy pointed around the woods then whispered, "You are being recorded live. Someone is watching this right now. Lysander Doukas is very influential in Karnei. That's all I have to say," She then looked down and said out loud, "But you are all probably wondering how a spirit is able to do all of this and why." she said.

Amy looked at the spirit who seems to have calmed down a bit. His magic affects his vigor. "The people whom you killed all had something in common. They are descendants of the people who caused your death. Noble or common, directly or indirectly. Even those who are guilty by association are killed. I didn't really know much about the connection until you killed the Lune family with actual family records. Their ancestor from your time is a direct descendant of one of the noblemen who killed you, emigrated here and gained Solin citizenship and joined its peerage. The ones you left alive are either family to them by marriage or adoption. They have no blood relation to those you've killed. Even those who aren't related to your killers were killed because they were pregnant. You waited centuries to kill them and gathered up your power which led to you moving incredibly fast and materializing using your own power. When you were alive, you were thought to have no power, an ability of your own. The Atreus family have descended from Angel and Demons, both. But there are abilities that are overlooked because they won't appear under very certain circumstances. In your case, you unlocked your ability after you died. The ability to maintain and interact into the physical world without a contract and still have the abilities a spirit has. But you decide to wait as long as you did so you would have enough power to take your revenge first." Amy sports a sad look at him, "I'm sorry to say this but this will be the end of the line for you."

He began screeching like a banshee and is trying to claw his way towards her scratching and switching. Leon, Rufus and Viola seem like they are struggling a bit. Amy could see that she needs to hurry this up.

"Your anger may be understandable to the point of being justified but all those people you have killed are innocent. The ones who remain will still be alive. They have nothing to do with your grudge. They shouldn't be killed for what their ancestors have done. The ones you left alive all want revenge for what you've done to their families. If they know that their killer is here, they would all storm in and want revenge like you do. I researched and planned on your capture all year with some trial and error, and you recognize me, threaten me and now you wish to kill me. But you crossed the line when you killed my classmate."

The screeching turned into a loud roar and now he is switching so fast that he's vibrating at such high speed and passing through the barrier. Everyone is panicking and the three that are maintaining the ritual are struggling more even with the support. Amy admits that she is impressed. He figured out a way to escape Dead Man's Net after all. But he is weak now. He materialized again to attack her, but Amy pulled out a push knife and pushed it directly into his stomach.

She whispered softly so that no one would hear but him, "You and I are both survivors."

"Li-liar" he struggled.

"Why would I lie? I faced death before and lived through it. To win is to lose. Yet you already lost your life. Why do you need to keep fighting? It's better to just rest in peace."

She then pulled out the knife and the spirit froze then dissipate like dust. There are cheers everywhere but only Amy didn't join in. She looked at the knife, blue in color with the hollyhock flower, now stained with red blood.
