Chapter 74 - A Cracked Mind

Amy opened her eyes to see darkness lighted by torches from the bandits to light their path.

Despite being awake, she doesn't feel awake. She looked around to see a conceited sneer from Violet, a behavior she is used to by now.

It's just a figment of my imagination. she thought.

Then she saw the group finally stopping. She turned around to see some men wearing lanky looking men dressed in Getel uniform.

Ethan got off his horse to talk to men. It seems this is the rendezvous where they would drop her off at.

Then a man approached the wagon and bowed respectively.

"Greetings Miss Anthos, my name is Sir. Harold of the Osprey Regiment. I am to escort you and your maid to our honorable land. I apologize for your uncomfortable travel but my men and I will ensure your safety and the rest of your journey to be as comfortable when we reach the border."

Amy stared at the man with indifference. "You know that Solin is not going to stand this. You call yourself honorable, but you kidnap a young girl from her land and lie about it by acting like you are not at fault."

The man was silent, unsure what to say.

One of the Getel men dropped something in front of Ethan and he counted before slamming his fist onto the tree next to him. Then the men began arguing, quite loudly at that. The two groups, looking like they are gonna start a gang fight, drew closer to the two arguing figures. Harold even joined in.

"The agreement is ten!" Ethan roared.

"Sorry but this is what I was to offer you." The man sneered at him. He is definitely a noble.

"I lost a couple of my men to those guards of hers."

After more arguing, swords were drawn and they started fighting each other, Amy sat there forgotten. After some blood is shed, a cloud of bats starts swarming the area. Amy got scratched on her neck during the scuffle, but she paid no mind to it. Finally alert, she looked around to see that Anna is scream as she jumped off the wagon. Then all the bats disperse and are replaced by pale looking men and women. Anna laid on the group, pale, disfigured and dead. The two groups of men start fighting them off but other than Ethan, everyone is dying quickly.

Amy is extremely dizzy and in deep pain but as the pale group slowly approaches her, she cannot help but be scared of her life and Violet is at a safe distance, laughing maniacally at this turn of events.

Amy cannot move from her spot as she is dragged away from the wagon.

She opened her eyes with an upstarted and screamed painfully loud.

"AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Her body spasmed in pain as she feels every bite, grip, and the flow of blood on her body even though the visible wounds and action causing this pain is unseen. Tears flow into her widened eyes as she screamed in pain. Everyone around her does not know what to do.

"NO! Miss!" Anna tried to push her down as she started moving uncontrollably.

"What's going on?" Ethan yelled as he watched her struggle.

Anna began crying as she tried to hold her down. "This happens rarely. S-She screams like she is in pain, and no one knows why."

Amy could still feel the pain like she is actually feeling it. "Make this terrible nightmare go away!!!!" She grabbed the dagger and tried to stab her neck with it but Ethan stopped her and after a bit of struggling he threw the knife away and help hold her down.

"Change of plans. We stop at a nearby village and get a doctor!" Ethan shouts.

Someone on horseback ran off to get a doctor and the rest have to make sure she doesn't harm herself.

"Kill me!" Amy was crying loudly now, "Let me die!"

"Please don't say that, miss." Anna whimpered. "It will pass. Just endure it a little longer."

Amy used her power and the hay below her glowed and turn into silk fabric much to Ethan's initial surprise.

"Are you alright?" Boris asked.

I'm fine now, Amy answered with a groan. How long was I out?

"You're still unconscious but at least it has stopped." Boris says kindly.

"I'm sorry. I didn't take into account how bad the future seer side effect you'll be getting it. I didn't actually think you would feel the pain as well." Alabaster says apologetically.

"The hallucination problem could be fixed. You need some therapy and unfortunately, you are on the road to Getel so that is impossible." Boris said.

Is this a nightmare or a future sight? Amy asked.

"The question is how are they gonna get you to the border. I see how they're gonna do it though the vampire attack isn't surprising."

If this is gonna happen then we're screwed. I couldn't do anything there. I'm too weak, she says with low spirits.

"We will pump more brain power when you reach the border but if we overdo it, it will fry your brain and leave too much of an overdose. Your purification power is the perfect weakness against vampires. Even a small bit is enough to erase them."

"We'll come rescue you and Anna before the vampires arrive." Boris assured, "We cannot have this become a reality."

Do you think that this is all planned? To have me killed? You saw those Getel soldiers.

"Hekaton and Solin are at a political discussion with the purification ability. They're just being weasels and take you while remaining blameless by having the two nations fight." Alabaster scowled with contempt.

It might escalate into a war if I'm dead.

"I suggest that you watch out. We will take you and Anna away."

Amy nodded slowly and immediately feel her arms are getting weak and her eyes are heavy as she opened them, waking up in a bed. She stretched for a bit, feeling a bit sore for some reason until she looked at her arms. They were bruised by the strong grip of those who held her down and stopped her from trying to harm herself again. Anna happily smiled upon see her.

"Anna, water" she says with parched lips and an extremely hoarse throat.

After drinking the cup of water that she gave her, she looked around.

"Where am I?"

"At a clinic. Ethan took us here. You've been here for a couple hours now."

If the troops haven't found them yet, then Ethan and his crew did an extremely good job evading them.

"Oww, my head hurts," she whined.

"It took some time to calm you down. The doctor says that you would need to rest in bed for some time. That man on the other hand will snatch you up the moment you wake up."

The door opened to Ethan walking in, and his eyes look frantic.

"Good, you're awake. We're heading out in a few minutes."

"Wait a second, my lady just woke up. She needs rest."

"And we're wasting time. Either you bring her out or I will," he warned before leaving the room.
