Chapter 75 - Vampires Ambush

Not even five minutes after she woke up, she returned back onto the wagon and resume their trip but restocked on the medicine that she needs. Because of the changing season, the weather became more colder, but she endured due to heating magic to warm themselves. It also helps that the hay conveniently turned into silk as the material makes a good insulator.

"This is quite problematic. No wonder you were defenseless in that vivid nightmare of yours." Boris said, "That asshole wouldn't even let you rest properly."

"If we believe it to be true then you and Anna will have to leave before they arrive."

Easier said than done when you have at least fifteen sturdy bandits and a boy keeping watch over me.

"For now, you must get some sleep. We'll pick you up the moment they start arguing."

And let those vampires loose? I rather take care of them before they go awol. Amy displayed a rare look of murderous intent, Her sharp violet eyes glared in the distance and her hands grip the silk in anger. They are still a danger to this world. The nightmare may just be a bad dream to you but I remember what they did to me, tortured me, fed off of me. I felt everything. I wanted to kill myself. I had no hesitation to end my life with that knife I carried around since I was kidnapped. I could care less about everyone else. I'm gonna kill those fucking vampires.

She looked at Anna for a brief moment, seeing her sleep after watching over her overnight.

Take Anna far from here and give me some rejuvenating elixir. I know the effects are not immediate so give me some at the right time.

"That's dangerous, Amaryllis. It could kill you. Your mind and brain are already working differently than normal. I have no idea what will happen if you take it." Boris says reluctantly.

"No, she's right. Let her." Alabaster said.

Boris looks horrified. "Are you out of your senses? She could actually die out there. We can just teleport there and bring her back once the vampires are gone."

"How on earth would you explain the men who are on their way?" Alabaster asked.

"They are taking too slow!" Boris argued, "I'm beginning to think they're not coming at all. No one will know. We can plan something or plant evidence that she's rescued. Just what on earth are you thinking of?"

"Guys, you two are far too loud in my head." Amy groaned,

Vampires in the Story of Aron are different from the modern portrayal of vampires. These ones appear lanky, have pearly white skin, receding hair, sometimes none, and are extremely wrinkly all over yet have youthful bodies. They also have elongated ears and teeth that are impossible to hide. They prefer to wear clothes but require their bat skin in order to fly at night like a selkie. They are not attractive by any means. Unlike the cultural modern vampires she is more familiar with, these vampires have short lives and they live up to an average of twenty years but reach adulthood in just five. Despite their disadvantages, they don't have bones so it makes killing them much more difficult. Their skin is similar to rubber and cannot be easily cut down and are invulnerable to weapons but the same cannot be same for magic.

They are intelligent than most creatures and capable of creating their own communities. Vampire society always work in the dark and usually prefer not to go against humans to provoke or lead to a losing battle so they do not attack large settlements or large groups of people so they feed on all kinds of creatures. All vampires are native to Getel and do not exist in any other nation.

This information was described in Aron's studies of vampires before going against the highest ranking vampire among their society at first to deal with the vampire problem as a coup rose up against their sovereign. Vampires are not all capable of being malevolent. On the contrary, they desire to be a part of the human world more than anything. That is why the Vampires agreed to side with humanity against the Cambion.

After looking around a bit more, she got up and shouted, "I have to use the bathroom." The wagon immediately stopped and she quickly got off and hid far away from sight. Alabaster and Boris popped out and Boris quickly got a needle full of adrenaline. She quickly got her arm out and is quickly gotten alcohol wipes on her arm.

"It takes a couple minutes for it to take effect." Boris said while letting the injecting the substance in her arm making her flinch, "I have no idea what would happen at this point. It will jumpstart your energy but you might get a seizure."

"I'll be fine. I just need to feel more alert."

The rejuvenation potion she took is more potent than the ingestible ones. Once it enters her bloodstream, she will be more alert and ready.

After leaving, both men disappeared. She headed back to the wagon but before holding onto something.

Counting the minutes, Amy nervously tapped her fingers together. Time is much slower when you wait for something dreadful.

Amy remembered that nightmare of that bloodlust. The bodies are because of that person. Those are Violet's eyes, her eyes. With a solemn look, she felt the item in her hand. Alabaster dropped it off for her. This is one of the items she asked him to make after she failed on her own.

The wagon suddenly stopped to the bandits and the Getel men. Then the scene played out in her dreams. While everyone is arguing and began fighting, they all stopped by the sound of approaching bats. Amy tried to activate the magic circle underneath Anna but she freaked out and began running first.

"Anna!"

But the swarm approached and started attacking everyone. Amy, finally feeling a surge of energy, ran towards Anna, grabbed her by the wrist and activated the circle as the swarm approached her.

Then a loud sound nearly distracted Amy which made her turn back. Nothing else could make this day even more stranger.
