Rhett stared at me for a long moment, his expression unreadable. "Expectations," he finally said. "Right now, Isleen, the only expectation I have is for you to trust me. This connection we share— it's powerful, dangerous even. But I promise you, I won't lead you astray. If you want us to make our reveal today, I'm your guy. But whatever you decide, I'll respect your decision."
"Let's meet tomorrow night." I didn't know when the words escaped me.
I had blurted out those words before realizing what I had said. It was, however, too late for redemption.
Rhett's mouth twisted in amusement. "Look who is finally being honest with herself."
Rhett's amusement only intensified my fluster. I mumbled a weak defense, "I-I just…"
