Chereads / Goblin Ascesion / Chapter 2 - Itch....

Chapter 2 - Itch....

[Claw: Claw at your opponent inflicting double damage.Increasing skill's level increases the damage and unlocks further mutation ]

[Bite: Bite at your opponent inflicting double damage.Increasing skill's level increases the damage and unlocks further mutation ]

"So these skills can mutate..."

"Not bad..."

Marg noted everything down as he moved on to his status...

[Cunning: Related to intellect, will and processing speed. Can be raised during evolution.]

[Toughness: Related to defence, stamina and endurance. Can be raised during evolution.]

[Might: Related to strength, power and attack speed. Can be raised during evolution.]

"So I can finally evolve..."

"Hope I get better stats than these pitiful excuse of stats..."

[Brood: A newly hatched goblin. Next evolution at level five. Evolution unlocks higher ranks and mutations. ]

"That's why I got this five on my levels, bet the levels needed to evolve net time will be double..."

Marg deduced as he went silent for a minute.

"Does this mean the amount of biomass I can gain from lower ranks will reduced..."

"Damn..."

"I have to capitalize on this before evolving..."

Marg thought as he accessed his skills.

"Let see how this works..."

Marg thought as he selected on his Screech skill, since he was all weak,he planned on upgrading screech as he would be able to inflict fear on his opponent before dashing in to inflict pitiful amount of damage with his other two skills before escaping when the fear effect ran out.

Also he didn't plan on direct confrontations,he was a human and with his high cunning and previous life experience,he planned on capitalizing in guerilla tactics and traps.

[Upgrade Screech to maximum +5...]

[Fifteen biomass needed...]

"So that how it is..."

Marg did his math and concluded that each upgrade cost biomass equivalent to its level.

"Let's tweak it a bit..."

[Upgrade Screech to +3...]

[Six biomass needed...]

[upgrade Bite to +2...]

[Three biomass needed...]

[Upgrade Claw to +2...]

[Three biomass needed...]

With three biomass left,Marg finalized his selection.

"Uuuuuurrrrggggg!"

Marg screamnt as pain assorted his nervous system, his throat felt as if a million ants were nibbing on it,his serrated teeth and canines felt as if they were being pulled out and shoved back in as his claws felt as if they were being pulled out, just like in those torture sessions.

He wanted to scratch at his throat but he couldn't,a minute later, all the pain, all the itch seized, and a sweat drenched tiny Marg lay on the ground.

He took deep breaths before taking in his surroundings,he hoped that his painful shriek had not attracted any creature.

As he settled down,he took a peek at his claws, not only had they grown a couple of millimeters taller, but also appeared tougher, sharper and had a darker shade of green than the rest of his body.

"I wonder how much damage, these little guys can ditch out..."

Marg thought as he left the safety of his shrub,he decided to sweep through the ruins, that he had deduced were his home,or would have been.

As he causally moved from one burning heap of grass and sticks that seemed to make up the previous shelters,he searched for any item that he could use, unluckily for him,the place had been wiped clean, not even a hairr was left.

"Seeing that the fire has not died, the invaders must not have gone far,but with my practically nonexistent stats, following after them will be nothing less of a suicidal mission..."

"Or I can do is wait for the scavengers to show up,and then..."

"I will have my fill of biomass, and those sweet levels..."

"But first, I need to prepare a welcome party for them..."

Marg thought as he quickly moved to access the remaining of the stick fence around the settlement,he found no breach on the fence, indicating that the enemy must have charged through the gate and laid waste to the settlement.

If so, the enemy must have superior strength or outnumbered the goblins in this settlement.

From the footprint around the settlement,he could tell that the enemy must have been humans,as the footprints were in the shapes of boots.

Some were deep indicating that some of the enemy were clad in heavy armor, while some appeared light, just like those of light armored classes.

And from the clean cuts and deep gushes on the ground and trees around,he deduced that there were sword practitioners among the attacking team,as well as mages, probably fire mages,as the fires seemed to have burnt in perfect circles around the shelters, burning only what was targeted and living the area around it intact.

"Well, now I have to contest against my own..."

As Marg arranged all he had picked up from his swipe meticulously in his mind, the system chimed thrice, forcing him to assess his panel.

[Congratulations, you have unlocked the Scouting Skills... Purchase more skills with skill points.]

[You have learnt : Scouting]

[Scouting:Gather information from observation.Upgrading skills level unlocks more mutations...]

"Holy moly!"

"So this how I learn new skills and unlocks loads of other branching skills..."

Marg was exited as he quickly accessed the Scouting Skills available for purchase.

[Stealth: Utilize the surroundings to hide from the enemies.Upgrading skills level unlocks more mutations+1 Skill Point...]

[Trap: Set offensive and defensive traps.Upgrading skills level unlocks more mutations +1 Skill Point...]

At his current level, only two skills were available for purchase, and to him, they were a must have.

But it didn't mean he would waste his skill points on them.

He had experience playing as a thief and assassin in his previous life, and thus replicating these two wasn't a bother.

With his knowledge, not just these two,but creating a hundred more won't be a worry, with that thought drifting in his head,he started to list out a few of the skills he currently needed,at the moment,he needed more support and ranged attack skills than close combat skills.

It won't do him any good, fighting at melee range with his weak structure.

As he moved around breaking some thick branches,he lined out potential skills set for both long term and short term use.

All he needed now was a little time. Time that he was running shot on.
