Marg moved around breaking thick sturdy branches for ten minutes as he piled them at the only entrance of the settlement, done with the branches,he looked around for two a couple of rocks and shaped them into flakes,a smaller one that he wrapped one end with some vines and a longer one that he tied to a sturdy long foot branch with several vines to form an L shape.
Once he was done,he inspected his work as system chimed rang in his mind.
[Congratulations, you have unlocked the Craft Skills... Consecutive crafting increases the crafting skills level.]
[You have learnt the skill: Inspect]
[Inspect: Identify and inspect the attribute of materials and crafted items.Consecutive use increases the skills level...]
"Huh..."
"So crafting skills don't need me to spend biomass on them, that's a life saver..."
Marg thought as he peeked at his panel...

"Back to work..."
Marg granted at his weak stats...
He inspected his two creations, primitive as they looked, they would serve the intended purpose well.
[Inspect]
Item: Stone Knife
Rank: Common
Racial Bonus: +5 Might
"Holly molly!"
"A plus five in might,I didn't expect this racial bonus to be this broken..."
Marg was amazed by the racial bonus on the common rank stone knife.
He deduced that a stone knife of its rank had no added bonuses.
This made him happy as by equipping this common knife, his base might had increased to seven, though not that strong,at least he could now contest with weaker opponents on melee range.
[Inspect]
Item: Stone Hoe
Rank: Common
Racial Bonus: ×2 Digging Speed
"Overrated..."
Marg thought as he quickly raised the stone hoe and struck at the ground beneath him, it only took him almost an hour for him to dig a sizeable pit, nine foot deep and five foot wide.
Not even stopping to rest or check on the continuous system chimed,he used the stone knife to sharpen the tips of the sturdy branches he had plucked, throwing them all into the pit, before descending to finalize his pit fall.
He had the sharp edges facing upward as the top of the pit was covered with thin branches, grass and dirt.
Seen that no monster had approached,he decided to dig another hole under one of the huge trees to act as his hideout, complete with a bed of dry grass and another pitfall at the entrance.
As night descended, his stomach started rumbling.
Marg was forced to retreat into his hideout, hoping that the scavengers would pay his settlement a visit.
On one side of the dugout cave was a rank of basic spears, sturdy branches sharpened on one end.
A bow was hung at the entrance with a quiver full of stick arrows.
As he rested on his newly made bed,Marg accessed his gains from the system.
[Congratulations, you have unlocked the Dig Skill.]
[Dig(passive):Increase the digging speed by a factor of two.Consecutive digging increases the skill's level...]
"My first passive skill..."
"Better still, I don't have to spend biomass on it."
"No wonder my digging seemed to have skyrocketed..."
[Congratulations,Dig has upgraded to +1.]
[Congratulations,Dig has upgraded to +2.]
[Congratulations,Dig has upgraded to +3.]
"Huh!"
"Three upgrades,not bad..."
Dig was not the only skill Marg had learnt,
[Congratulations, you have unlocked the Trap Skill under scouting skills.]
[Trap:Equip one with relevant knowledge on trapping.Consecutive use increases the skill's level...]
"One skill point saved..."
Marg thought as he smiled,he planned on saving all his not yet accumulated skill points for rare skills.
[Congratulations,Trap has upgraded to +1.]
[Congratulations,Trap has upgraded to +2.]
"Not bad..."
Marg thought as he accessed the last of his notifications...
[Congratulations, Craft Mastery has upgraded to +1.]
"Not bad..."
"But a single level from all the crafting I did ain't fair..."
Marg had a quick peek at his stats panel before regretting it...

As timed passed,Marg continued sharpening sticks for arrows,he did this as to keep his mind awake,he didn't want to fall asleep and miss on the chance of landing the killing blow on any scavenger that happened to fall into his pit.
An hour later, his wait was rewarded as he heard the roar of a beast from the settlement entrance.
"Jackpot..."
Marg cheered as he dashed out,he had his stick bow,a quiver full of stick arrows strapped on his back, the stone knife sheathed at his waist and a spear on one hand.
He had also strategically placed several spears within the settlement. He also had two more quivers full of stick arrows hid on top of two trees.
One ten metres east of the entrance and the other one ten metres on a tree outside the settlement entrance.
He had connected the two trees with a tunnel, two metres underground.
This tunnel would serve as his escape if anything went wrong.
As for the quivers, they were made of broad leaves tied together with a couple of vines,he had also made a simple loincloth made of a set of broad leaves held together with more vines.
The bow was just a curved stick with a vine running from one end to the other.
Though all his craft were basic, primitive and of a common rank, the racial skill awarded him stunning bonuses.
As he run sneekly towards the entrance,he opted to inspect his weapons one last time.

"Time to welcome the guest..."
Standing on top of the pit,Marg made out the silhouette of a dog sized creature with black far.
It body had been spiked through, the more it tried to struggle out of the pit,the more its wounds bled.
The smell of blood permeated the surroundings.
"I have to make haste..."
Marg thought as he took aim at the creature's eye before letting loose.
The arrow cut through the air as it found its target and dug deep into the monsters eye,all the way into its mind.
