William searched his recently gained memories for information about the Giljoy family and only found a small piece. The Giljoy family is renowned for producing at least one person with the talent to become a mage at least once per generation. The family was formed 700 years ago by an official mage who rose to prominence during the war between the empire and the Black Leaf Kingdom. The ancestor managed to gain the hereditary title of Duke, which was far higher than William's family rank of Barron.
As William was thinking about the Giljoy family, another test result sent a sensation through the crowd, the girl in the blue dress had scored a talent level of 5, the same as the Giljoy boy!
"Very good, another talented youth from a noble family, Mrs. Inclin, you will definitely make the academy proud along with Mr. Giljoy."
Before William even had time to search his memories for information about the Inclin family, he heard someone beside him start talking.
"hmhp, what's so good with a talent of 5? What noble bloodlines. I will show them what a true mage looks like."
William looked over and saw a fat boy with delicate clothes and well-combed hair.
The fat boy saw William looking over at him and introduced himself with a confident grin.
"I am Jack, the son of Count Chixl, don't be fooled by this trash, I will show you what a true noble bloodline looks like. What's your name?" He said while taking a fruit out of his pocket and started to much on it.
William hesitated before speaking to him, after all this manic was trash-talking two powerful nobles what if he was caught up in it? However seeing that no one around them was listening, he shared his name with Jack.
"I am William abdon my father is a barron." before William could continue talking, it was Jack's turn to test his talent.
Jack's face lit up in joy, he confidently swaggered over to the old man with the globe and threw his apple to the side hitting another youth.
Jack confidently looked over at the giljoy and inclin children and smirked confidently, "Try not to let this go to your head, some people are just born better."
Jack lay his hand down on the globe expecting gasps of awe and the two level 5 talents to jump in shock, however, he instead froze at the result.
"level 3. Pass." the old man did not care about the fatty and waved him away.
Jack froze for a few seconds then turned around and looked at William with a confident smirk "Never reveal your true power." He walked over to the other students who had passed, took out another fruit and sat down on the wall while trying to do a mysterious pose.
William regretted speaking to the idiot and went up to the tester to find out what his talent level was. William was filled with apprehension, his family was not rich or influential enough to get his talent tested beforehand so he had no clue whether or not he would pass.
As William lay his hand down on the globe he felt a cold shiver run through his veins and he froze, he would never forget this feeling. It was the black bead he had found under the tongue of the corpse!
"Level 4.. Pass" The old man who had tested him looked at William with a kind smile opposite to the way he had looked at Jack. The head mage also nodded at William. "Very good! There's plenty of talented youths this time."
William let out a sigh of relief, how embarrassing would it be if he was brought over from another world just to fail a school examination? He walked to the side where the other students who had passed were standing. He noticed the jealous looks from the other students, compared to the looks of awe the inclin and giljoy youths had gotten. Wiliams's bloodline wasn't well known enough to induce awe and respect in people.
William subtly looked at his hand once he was at the side and noticed that the veins in the palm of his hand were completely black! Before he had time to process it, the blackness quickly receded and returned to normal.
