William had been a student of the Royal Magic Academy for one week now. The sprawling campus, adorned with ancient towers and mystical gardens, held the promise of arcane knowledge. His days were consumed by intensive study, and his nights were spent practicing the fireball spell in the secluded courtyard.
As the first test approached, the pressure mounted. Mastering the fireball spell was crucial, and William felt the weight of expectations. The flickering flames that danced in his hands were far from the powerful bursts of fire he needed to impress the academy's discerning professors.
In the dim glow of his dormitory, surrounded by dusty tomes and arcane symbols etched into the stone walls, William tirelessly practiced the incantations. His roommate, a wanna-be genius, Jack asked with a mix of concern and annoyance.
"You've been at it for hours, William. Don't you need rest? You've been in the room the whole week, people are going to think you are weird." Jacki inquired, glancing at the flickering flames that illuminated the room.
"I can't afford to rest, Jack. The test is in two days, and I still can't conjure a fireball that would roast a turkey!" William replied, frustration evident in his voice.
Jack sighed, "You have a level 4 talent, don't you? It's not as good as mine, but it's still something. Well, I have some pretty girls waiting, see you later! " Jack; left the room with a perverted smile on his face.
WIlliam sighed as he failed to cast the fireball spell again. Why couldn't he cast it? Everyone else could, even that idiot Jack was able to! As he tried to cast the fireball again, he already knew it would fail, in a moment of anger he felt madness course through him as he tried to remember the feeling of the black bead, the shivering horror, and all of a sudden the flames in his hand turned black and expanded, he jumped back in shock and threw the fireball out his window. He saw the black fireball hit the lake out side and explode throwing the water in the air. William stared in shock, He had seen other students cast fireballs before and it was definitely nothing like that
William tried to cast the fireball spell again, but he failed. Could he only cast magic with the black bead?
