I've asked myself many, many times what it would be like if the whole world spoke just one language. In fact, I think most people have thought about this possibility at least once in their lives. It's a tempting idea, having the possibility of talking to people from other parts of the world without having the language barrier to separate us.
It's as if, just by speaking the same language, people become closer and feel more welcomed. I myself have traveled to other countries and have always found it difficult to connect with other people whithout knowing very of the language. Whenever someone said something that I didn't understand, I immediately thought it was saying something bad about me.
The difference between languages and language is a real barrier, or rather, a wall. It separates people, their cultures and their knowledge, making the process of learning and sharing even more difficult.
It can be depressing and threatening to hear two people talking in front of you in a language you cannot understand. And that's exactly how I feel right now: a stranger who has no idea what's going on.
I need to find a way around this. Fortunately, I know where to start, but unfortunately, there is no way to learn a language in a single day. Learning another language takes time and effort with continuous practice, which still leaves me feeling alienated and excluded from any situation similar to my current one.
Does Mom know how to speak this woman's language?
"I understand, but today I'm going to take Apollo for a little walk around the village. So, your day of caring for him will be relocated to tomorrow. I'm sorry about that, but I think it will be good for him to get out for a bit."
"Niolas muilte oitre oy tiu, Arkex Inessa.
"Don't worry about it, Apollo is much better today. But why did you wait here? I warned you it might take a while. And if you wanted, you could have come in and helped me pick out an outfit for him, *fufufu* he did so cute in red."
"Boxns Arkex, novte mier molid. Yoiuer ai sasd guie fu sashe huirt Vultiole ashye asqá niopoe as aser roif anshe nuiot? Hiur sher shu i nliore iosev as huite so uitye kmior... asdej laksi huite suie sadhi nbe sio iu uteo sahue nioo nmasu nauit easieop lasnue?"
"I understand your concern, I also don't want to expose Apollo to unnecessary stress. But today he is so calm and seems so well, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to take him to the village. Abigail has some medicine that would be good for his health. Also, you and Mahara will go with me to help me if I need anything."
"Cdsor amiel, Arkex Inessa. Msnie naiu hi esd asnuir aopir. Dasle sneex vooir Mahara?"
"Please prepare a meal for us, we will be going to the park and it will be a great time to eat. And yes, let Mahara know and tell her to get ready to leave. But tell her not to wear armor and tell her to wear something more refined. I don't want Apollo to be bothered by the noise of her armor. And tell her to prepare the carriage."
"Cdsor amiel, Arkex Inessa"
From what I can understand, we're going out somewhere because today I'm relatively healthy. But why it? I feel fine, and even in the forest when i was alone, I wasn't feeling any discomfort. Who drew the conclusion that I was sick? Furthermore, it seems that there is a rotation to take care of me and this woman should be responsible today.
Curious, isn't it? According to scholars, language is an innate function that allows the individual to symbolize their thoughts and decode the thoughts of others. In other words, language allows us to say what we are thinking in a way that the other person can understand and vice versa.
Whatever it is, Mom seems to trust this... Dark Elf a lot? I still don't know what race she belongs to. Anyway, just the fact that Mom left me in her care is already a sign. But there is also the tone of friendship and sincerity that the two speak. If I'm not mistaken, this woman must be a personal friend and confidant of hers and not just an employee.
Furthermore, this woman looks at me like a child looks at a piece of chocolate cake. I confess it's quite confusing, she looks at me with a genuine look of affection, but my adult mind in a baby's body prevents me from having appropriate reactions. The only thing I can do is look at her carefully.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, Mom seems to have tasked the woman with preparing some things for our trip. And something unexpected appeared in her last lines, Mahara's name. Is she also an employee here? And what is her relationship with Mom?
I didn't understand anything the woman said, so I have no idea what she was thinking. Was she saying something bad? Something good? Was she worried about me or Mom? I don't know and I'm unlikely to know anytime soon...
At the same time, it's funny that I noticed some details about her with other types of signals. Like the fact that she looked at me affectionately, the fact that she had a sad expression when mom said she was going to change her day of taking care of me. Or even the fact that she worried about my health or when I saw her smile when mom talked about me looking good in red.
Okay, I guess I won't have any answers until I learn more about her. But the language barrier is a little difficult to overcome, I'll have to dedicate a few months to be able to learn something. I hope I make it by then and that nothing serious happens to me.
But anyway, the monologue with myself almost took me out of the reconnaissance mission. Priority: learning more about where I am and what kind of place I will have to live.
It's been a few minutes since I left the room on my mother's lap. She seems to really like my reactions to the various details of the house. Be it a painting, furniture, an architectural detail, a book, etc. She seems to want me to learn about everything, like she's showing off.
And to tell the truth, she has splendid taste in decoration. As soon as I left the room, I realized that this isn't just any mansion, I think it's the size of a small palace. The corridor we are walking through alone appears to be more than 50 meters long.
It's very big, has a high ceiling and has very well-crafted architecture. Marble, wood, metals and some materials that I have no idea were used to make the details of this hallway.
There are decorations made on the marble structure, ranging from relief details, paintings, metals of various colors and various styles of chandeliers and lights on the walls and ceiling. That alone is enough to know that this is a truly opulent place.
Hehehe, I think I did well...
There are numerous doors that I suspect are to the rooms in this place. I didn't count to find out the exact amount, but I believe there are around 20 rooms in this corridor alone. I don't even want to know how much work it takes to keep them all clean and tidy. But the style of the doors are all more or less the same, this must mean that these rooms are of a standard model.
Are they used or are they just empty rooms? Mahara is the name of one of Mom's students, but from what I noticed in the previous conversation, Mahara also seems to be a maid here. I think the maids should live in other rooms, but I don't even know if I can say that anymore. After all, what kind of maids take lessons from a dragon? Is she really a maid?
It's best to leave questions on hold, because as we walk down the corridor towards a huge staircase, you can see more interesting details. For example: there are no paintings or pictures of people in this place. Although there are countless pictures and frames hanging on the walls, none of them have anyone's image.
There are maps, landscape paintings, paintings of fantastic creatures, paintings of forests, buildings, towns and cities. Not even a painting or portrait of Mom, the possible owner of this place. It's very weird...
Of course, there are other countless decorations, such as maps, some strange artifacts, some shiny stones, and various types of maps. But what stands out most is the number of books scattered throughout the hallway. On bookshelves, on small dressers and on several small tables along the hallway.
I understand that knowledge is power, but I think that's a bit of a stretch... Luckily, this gives me some clues as to what kind of woman she is: an extremely dedicated teacher.
"How do you like mommy's house, dear? This is your house too, you're going to live here. Everything here is mine and mine alone, so everything here will also be yours, my wealth is your wealth."
This seems very intriguing to me. Does she have anyone else? This means that she does not have a husband or other children. That is good? I don't know, but she seems to be referring to these things as something trivial, unimportant.
As we walk, she shows me and tells me several details about the decorations. But when we finally reach the end of the hallway, at the top of the stairs, we stop suddenly. She turns back, which lets me see the splendor of this corridor, and begins to speak in a more anxious and serious voice.
"I know you won't understand now, but I'm going to tell you this over and over again after this, so don't worry, darling."
I think now she's going to tell me some secret or something very important.
"I want you to know that I love you deeply."
...
"I am Inessa Bellerose, a Dragon Lady and Sage, I have lived more than 10 centuries and I am stronger than the strongest of the Ancient High Elves. And you are my son... Even though you are not flesh of my flesh, Know that you have my soul inside your soul."
WHAT THE F*UCK?
"My son, I never thought I would find you... Something so beautiful and so fragile and how it started to live now. We've been together for less than 3 weeks, dear, but I've already felt more emotions in such a short time than for the last 300 years. You arrived when I needed you most."
How can she say that kind of thing to a baby? And why does she have such a tearful voice? She is happy? She is sad? I have no idea what she wants, but she lifted me up to face her, looking into my eyes.
"You are my son, Apollo. Ever since Akachi brought you to me, a warm, cozy light has shone over me. I don't regret anything I've done... You are MY son."
