Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 – Concerns

"Very well, dear, you don't need to worry about anything, it's just us here. But we need to be realistic, Aglaya, your situation must be faced and fought, you must not hide the problem, and now is a great opportunity to test your resilience. Ine, did anyone else come with you?"

"Hmm, Mahara came along, but I couldn't convince her to join us."

"Hohoho, that's good, it's been a while since I last saw Mahara, it'll be great to catch up with her. I wanted to check on Hendrina, but it looks like that will be next time or when I pay you a little visit. But anyway, Libertas, please go and call Mahara, she should be in the carriage up front. Just get close and call for her even if you don't see her, she will answer anyway."

"Oir, Arkex. Noaem aior ueor oeir auit elgo ashie ptue aie."

"Don't worry, tell her I'm calling for her."

Out of nowhere, Abigail took charge of the situation and started leading everyone, so naturally that nobody couldn't even question it. But it cannot be denied that one of the main qualities for a leader is charisma, and Abigail has a lot of that, it seems. Mom also seems to have great charisma, but I don't know if the situation was adverse or some other reason was present when dealing with Mahara.

While Libertas was going to call Mahara outside, Abigail cleared the table in the center of the room and brought some chairs for all of us. She also went to the back room and spent a few minutes there. In the meantime, Aglaya was shaking slightly and touching her face every minute.

When she wasn't touching her face, she was stroking me, a little aggressively and roughly and then gently and tenderly. Clearly, she is very anxious and tense because she took off her mask, but was it just because she took off her mask? Or is it because she is not wearing a mask in a place she is unfamiliar with?

I suspect that Aglaya must have some serious problem, similar to an anxiety attack. Fortunately, it seems to be at a manageable intensity for Aglaya, or at least I think so. It could be that she is trying to control and her affections on me are making her distracted and comforted enough to not lose control. In other words, I'm serving as some kind of pressure valve so it doesn't explode.

I hope that's not the case, because that would leave me with some even more troubling questions.

Fortunately, it was only a few minutes that I had to endure Aglaya's silence and nervous caresses. Soon Abigail returned and brought with her a large tea cart with all kinds of treats and snacks. It was a really big cart, almost the size of a restaurant cart, but it was quite exquisite and had beautiful snow-like decorations.

"Alright, girls, you can help yourself. It's almost lunch time, we should whet our appetite with some appetizers. Shall we eat? Libertas will arrive shortly with Mahara, but they will also join us."

"Abi, we'll accept the tea, but I think I have a better idea for our lunch."

"Hmm? Did you have anything planned for today, Ine? I thought you came to the village just to visit me here at the store with Libertas. I don't know if I should feel happy because you decided to leave that house or sad because you didn't give me priority. Hmmm..."

Ok... She's dangerous, maybe more dangerous than mom, it seems like they really have some kind of magic in their voice that influences the people around them. With a simple change in the tone of the voice, it can generate discomfort, remorse, doubt and guilt in those who listen. This is definitely not normal.

As if to prove that it's not normal, Mom, who hadn't seemed uncomfortable until now, began fidgeting uncomfortably and rambling incoherent mumbles. Aglaya also became even more tense and nervous, with the caresses becoming even more rough and uncomfortable. Seriously, am I going to have to do another scene just so I don't end up getting hurt?

"Let me hold this cute little thing for a bit, Aglaya, you don't look well and that's not good for him. Plus he keeps looking at me with those cute little red eyes that makes me want to squeeze those cheeks. Give me It's here, enjoy it and have some tea, it's chamomile tea, it will calm you down a little, as well as improve those dark circles under your eyes."

Did she just scold Aglaya? And she did it in such a subtle way that I don't even know if it could be considered a scolding. Well, at least I won't end up being hurt by Aglaya, but that doesn't make me happy either. Aglaya seems to be a dedicated and responsible person, it is not good to know that she may have some kind of emotional problem.

"So who is the most beautiful baby in this world???"

Serious? I refuse to react to something like that. It's beyond my share of shame.

"You!!!"

God in heaven...

"Cute little thing... I can see that you are better now, aunt will give you some medicine to make you even stronger and grow up healthy. To become a virile, intelligent and smart man and give us many grandchildren. Hahahahaha. .. Auntie will spoil you very, very much."

"Enough, Abi, don't talk about these things, he's still a baby, he doesn't even understand what you're saying. And he won't leave home or find a family anytime soon, if it's up to me."

"*Fufufu* Your mom is jealous!! So this will be our little secret!!"

"ENOUGH, Abi."

"Okay, okay, I already stopped. Ohh, they're here, just in time."

Hehehe, the topic was starting to get good. I suspect that she is the type of person who is quite sincere and honest, a little difficult to deal with, but with her charisma this is an easy task. From what I understand, she is very close to Mom, a long-term relationship, so she must be a trustworthy person.

Before Abigail could get out of control, Libertas entered the store, apparently with Mahara, but Mahara's presence seemed a little cloudy, almost as if she was hiding in the shadows. I think this must be the main function of masks, it is a very interesting magic.

But I can understand her, even if with a little difficulty, unlike Libertas, who seems to let her gaze wander. I think there must be some explanation that I have no idea about and I don't want to know right now. What interests me is to know what Abigail and Mom will talk about, maybe I can learn something more.

"Mahara, my little Aasimar, how are you? It's been so long since I saw you, have you lost weight? You've also changed your hair..."

"Arkex Abigail, nasoe ppowe queior nhise lasoie nfoasi eodo euas yieo iote oqpe jfie fpaoie."

"Ohohoho, nothing like that, I need to check and help you all. It was my promise. Now, my dear Mahara, where are your wings?"

"Npoe naoie... tuio qperion... sloir epas mcoap, Arkex."

"Okay, okay, I'll wait a little longer then. But next time I won't give up."

Hmm, a big change in treatment between Mahara and Aglaya. As opposed to being a bit rude and scolding Aglaya, Abigail seems like a concerned mother towards Mahara. I can't judge without knowing information about the subject, but it shouldn't be so explicit. Is she doing this blatantly? And for what reason?

She continued to ask Mahara, who still had her mask on, a few things. I believe she's just not hugging Mahara because she has me on her lap, otherwise she would be doing exactly that. Even with Mom she didn't show that much affection, it seems that she has a special affection for Mahara. Definitely intriguing.

"Abi, I think it would be best if we go back to our tea. The girls have already served themselves, only you and Mahara are left. How about letting her sit down and serve herself too? And Mahara, how about taking off your mask for a bit and helping yourself?" ? We're going to talk a little about some topics before going for a walk."

"Ohh By Aura, I'm sorry dear. Come on, sit down. Help yourself to the tea, it's chamomile, there are also some snacks."

"Oir, Arkex Inessa. Noir wisre pape Arkex Abigail."

Finally we were all sitting at the table, some more nervous than others and I was on Abigail's lap. The situation calmed down when everyone was served with tea and nibbling on some snacks that Abigail brought. But you could see that just like Aglaya, Mahara seemed tense about something and every 2 or 3 minutes she directed her gaze towards the exit door.

Maybe because of the absence of the mask, but it was starting to worry me as much as Aglaya. For the love of God, are none of them normal?

Abigail wasn't paying attention, or at least she was pretending very well, and the other women also seemed strange in this situation. But they continued to try to talk normally about unimportant subjects. Like the weather, the new stores that opened, the new products, the people who visited the store.

There were very varied topics, but all of them of no great importance, I didn't have any great information about them. Meanwhile, Mom started to make me more anxious and nervous with her attitude.

That is, Mom seemed comfortable being distracted, but she constantly looked at me as if she were going to forcibly take me away from Abigail. Her gaze doesn't seem to affect Abigail, but the look leaves me with butterflies in my stomach, she was getting more and more thirsty.
