If it was at night he wouldn't have struggled, but this was also how people grew. Levi took out Bloodthorne and started with his sword dance. It didn't feel the same at all.
One of the snakes elongated from the sin while it roared angrily at the disturbance. Levi thought he was faster but he was solely mistaken, he moved at snails pace under the sun.
"Dammit!" He expressed while the snake sank its fangs on his arm that blocked it from going for the neck.
Thankfully the venom he was injected with by those monsters within his Hub made him mildly invulnerable to poison. He ran forward intending to cut the sin's stomach open but the thing disappeared from his view.
It appeared just above his head knocking him off his feet with its hand sized paw. Levi could've sworn he saw it smirk, but he couldn't be sure because he was flying the other way.
[Ahem. I can't believe how weak you are under the sun, according to this, that's one of the weakest sins in Ancieru.]
"It's embarrassing but this fight will serve as good training. There's no telling if I'll always encounter my enemies during the night, I have to be prepared."
[Fight?] Lilith snorted.
Levi ignored her. He was getting handled and he knew it. Getting up from under the tree he'd smashed into, strengthening his resolve he ran forwards.
Levi knew he had to be a proficient fighter, it shouldn't matter whether it was day or night. The enemy would surely not wait for when he was at his strongest.
The feeling of vigor and undefeat ended immediately as he was beaten black and blue.
"This was so much easier in my mind." He said breathing heavily lying on the ground.
Since it couldn't kill him, the sin grew bored and left him to lick his wounds. It was the most embarrassing thing.
[Aren't you going to go after it now that the sun is setting?]
"No. Fighting during the day will be my new way of active battle training. I'll just hack trees during the night."
But tonight was a little different. He wanted to go out and mine the many caves the forest was home to. He wanted to breakthrough to the next stage and knew he needed more Riel Stones.
[While it's a good idea to collect them, it's a bad idea to completely abandon your training during the night.]
"I'm not, at least not until I get these stones. I'll still hunt beasts by day." He said cheerily walking into another cave, "how many do I need to breakthrough?"
[...]
He groaned, "fine I'll punch the air while walking about." Levi did as he promised and was shocked when the pressure from his fists created gusts of winds that threatened to cave him in.
"The power under the moons is ridiculously overpowered."
[Which is why you need to learn to control it. For your question earlier you'll need no more than 100 million platinum, not less than a billion golden. Anything less than gold would be a waste of time and resources.]
"Roger."
Twenty four hours was a lot of time and there were hundreds of caves in the forest that have been left unattended thanks to the sins living within the forest.
Nobody in their right mind ventured into it, unless of course they had a death wish or were confident in their abilities to kill and evade the sins that have made the forest their home.
Levi spent weeks alternating day and night with collecting platinum stones and fighting that one sin that he'd marked as his nemesis.
[That's right master use your surroundings.]
His speed was slightly better but his movements were something else entirely. Levi chose to stand still and let the sin come to him, this took him a week to figure out after being pummelled day after day.
The more he didn't engage it the angrier it seemed to be. It pounced hungrily at him and he swerved to the side at the very last minute, completely avoiding the attack.
He balled his fists as the sin did a 180. Levi threw in his punch for the first time in days, it landed right on the creature's stomach. A crunch of his bones fracture could be heard.
If it wasn't day, blowing through its insides would've been a piece of cake but this punch simply stopped it in its tracks, his hand serving as a sacrifice.
A scream was just at the tip of his tongue but he held it in. He immediately summoned a blade from Bloodthorne, the red blade shimmered under the sun.
The sin roared loudly, Levi wondered whether it was calling its streak. While he'd gone from edge to edge of this forest he didn't check every spot within it. He had no idea what lived within it.
They faced each other, the boy knew it in his heart, this would be the last time they'd be fighting. The sin had lost all its already low tactics, it attacked recklessly.
It ran straight for him, he stood bravery holding Bloodthorne in one hand. The creature jumped for his head he ducked but stuck his sword up above his head, meeting the sin's neck.
It was too heavy for him so he fell to the ground and it followed, falling ontop of him.
He took a deep breath and laughed, "I did it. I finally killed one! Lilith, I killed one!"
[Congratulations master, this is indeed a feat worthy of a celebration after weeks of failing.]
Lilith was growing more and more familiar with Levi, so was her attitude but he didn't mind it. He hadn't eaten anything great since those bad men, so this feast was welcomed and he didn't waste anytime.
He drained the tiger of its blood and roasted the meat. If he wanted to assimilate in this world, he'd have to eat things less raw, although he preferred it.
More time passed and he'd killed many sins and acquired more than a billion platinum Riel stones. He felt rich for the first time in his life, he sat atop a tree and started consuming Gi within them.
"There was a definitely a fight here." An unfamiliar voice sounded a distance away.
"Maybe it's him, nobody believes me but I'll prove them all wrong."
