Chapter 39 - Royal Blood

Levi did as he promised and observed the camp that brought warmth and a false sense of security to the campers. Unaware that the danger they came for was right above them.

He watched them exchange stories around the fire—listening attentively to anything he could use to have one over them.

The only information they divulged was the fact that Ancieru was made out of four recognised kingdoms, the other three were from races that were deemed lesser.

And that they were from a kingdom called Dominion of Serburgh or Serburgh for short which was connected to his forest only separated by a river.

"Wherever humans exists, classicism will too. Pathetic excuse for a species, I'm ashamed I was one in my past life..." He went on a long rant about humans and their atrocities.

Their political talks didn't last very long, it was the only useful thing he extracted without effort. Though he would've loved to know the races that were not part of high society, he would recruit them if they would have him.

If he really created his own kingdom, an alliance with the other three would make them contend against the other four. The only problem was that he didn't know why they were considered lessers.

"General is sweet on that elf girl, you should see him shaking every time he's in her presence." One of the men commented

"I've noticed too! He's like a love sick puppy in front of her."

"And I doubt she even knows his name."

They all laughed in unison. They were thrust into a really bad a situation but that didn't mean they couldn't make the most of it.

"I'm y-your superior, d-do you want to be punished?" He tried to make his voice stern but the man was blushing.

The General's men took turns laying it on him. The banter went on for so long that Levi almost fell off the tree laughing, the laughter seemed to slip out at times.

He couldn't believe that a man as old as the General was acting like a virgin. It seemed this world held sex in such a high regard. Not like back in his world, where you could buy it for a twenty.

[Need I remind master that he's also a virgin?]

"Shut up Lilith," he stopped the voice before it came out as a shout. "Now will they detect Gi if I start absorbing?"

[Affirmitive. Do not try to breakthrough here, you'll be spotted and killed, making their mission a success. A souvenir for the King and we both like your head attached to your shoulders.]

"Sorry Lilith, but I'm not into artificial intelligence, I'll have to let you down easy." He joked.

[...]

"It was a joke."

[Ha. Ha. Ha.]

"Hard crowd."

When it was finally time for the first watch, they went to sleep and it was on the fourth hour that Levi couldn't help himself. He wanted to see her, up close. He turned to smoke and entered her tent.

[I should advise—]

'Is there no way to turn you off? I'm just here to observe.' He lied, even he didn't believe himself.

'I can smell it Lilith, her blood is different from before. She's definitely tainted, now that's a bummer.'

He walked closer, so close he could see her pulse beating. That neck looked thin and delicate, maybe if he was careful he'd feed and not kill her.

'I've seen many females in my life, none quite as beautiful. Are we sure she's a year younger than me?'

[Yes.]

It was too dangerous Levi knew it, he caught his hand with another. As though he was back to having two people inside of him, one wanting to tear her limb from limb and consequences be damned. While the other wanted to play it safe.

While his hands were busy stopping each other, his lips were inches away from her jugular. His hair was very long, from being allured he didn't consider it, so it fell on her face.

An ear piercing scream sounded from the tent and immediately there were heavy footsteps running towards the tent. Opening it in record time.

"Princess, are you alright? What happened?"

"I-I felt something, there's something in the tent with me."

The man checked every corner, given there was nothing much to check and found nothing. The princess looked still much shaken.

"There's nothing Princess. I can stay with you in the tent." He suggested.

She wanted to haul insults at him but she didn't have the strength to, "I'll just go sit by the fire."

[Master, that was very dangerous. What was that about? If she's no longer pure, her blood won't be different from any other human.]

"That's where you're wrong Lilith, royal blood surely tastes different." There was but a drop on his fang, he licked it.

Levi left his spot for a while, he didn't trust himself to not go down there and just rip her head from her shoulders and drink from her severed head.

[Pretty dark.]

"That reminds me, I need a technique that will block you from my mind. You can't just enter it whenever you want." He reached to the water with his hands.

The reflection showed his eyes were bright red. He really needed to calm down, he splashed the water over his face.

[I don't think you'll be able to do it master but you can try.]

Levi was sure that the system had told him he couldn't manifest Gi before, so he wasn't going to take her words at face value.

"I wonder if I could keep that princess under my mind control, you know, just to piss off her kingdom." He let his imagination run wild.

[For someone at just the first stage of Novi you sure dream big. Get stronger first, much stronger.]

"But you said barely anyone crosses over to Mortal, much less Primordial." He shrugged.

[Still, you're naive if you think Kings don't have warriors at least at late stages of Primordial and at most the early stages of Void. Master.]

"Really love kicking a man while he's down. I'll go back to stalking them then."
