Chereads / Reincarnated With The Strongest Bloodline / Chapter 41 - A Dead Man's Plea

Chapter 41 - A Dead Man's Plea

Levi watched as the golden runes he eagerly thought were blessings, attempting to consume the girl completely. She didn't look like herself anymore, just photons in the shape of a girl.

He understood a little why Lilith demonised it but he couldn't deny the power it gave its user. Levi thought that if he could take control of the marking's power, he'd be unstoppable amongst the beings in Ancieru.

That was the fastest way to living in peace.

[Don't count on it Master, as you are right now attempting to take control of a god's power will only result in your end.]

He rolled his eyes, Lilith always gave unsolicited advice but even he knew that it was good advice. His goals seemed to shift with every new information uncovered.

"Alright, I don't have to do everything at once, I'll take my time. Maybe starting with revenge or building my own kingdom." He stood atop a branch fully exposing his position.

[Master, with the utmost of respects, you don't have time for this. You either knock her out or die here without achieving a single goal.]

"That's twice I save her life." He turned to dark smoke appearing right behind the Sin. "You owe me, Princess of Serburgh."

Levi sliced through its neck, the head was severed completely without a hassle. Bloodthorne was definitely a useful weapon, he was convinced it could cut through anything as long as he could connect the blade to his enemies.

If it was any other time, taking on a two horned Sin would've been a death warrant even though he was immortal but it was distracted so it was the perfect ambush.

He found it very frustrating that killing these things didn't give him anything. In his opinion it would've been much better if Lilith was a levelling up system.

[You can take its core, it is useless to you but to anyone who uses the soul it is very useful. You can sell it for quite a lot.]

Levi ignored Lilith, he was growing very annoyed with her ability to withhold information.

[I don't think Master understands how vast the archives are. That's why you were given me instead of computerised information. This world has existed for billions of years and everything about it since is right here, its very hard combing through it and giving you the information you want.]

"Fine."

He didn't stop at killing the sin, turning his weapon around he hit the princess at the back of her head before she could turn the vicinity into a wasteland.

Like clockwork, the runes dimmed one after the other, as though there were little cities within her skin and a blackout was in order.

He caught her before she could touch the ground. He was unaware that his fangs were already out because whenever they showed themselves it introduced an uncomfortable sensation to his gums. His eyes also shifted from grey to red.

[Master, this is no time to be doing that. If another two horn shows up you'll be done for, you have to get out of here.]

"Will this sensation ever stop being so uncomfortable?"

[I imagine with time Master, you will get used to it.]

"You were right, this power is dangerous." He was still holding the princess in his arms and gently put her on the ground.

He walked to her companions, they all looked dead. Being that close to her while her runes were half triggered killed them. He only survived because he wasn't human like them—being marked saved him.

Fits of coughs yanked him out of his mind, it was the general. He sure was a stubborn bastard. His head looked to be a different shape, as if it was squeezed and stopped before it could pop his brains out.

"You're, you're real." He said barely a whisper, coughing up more blood.

Levi stood over his body, sure the man was already a corpse only hanging by a thread. The blood made his head throb, people were dying and all he could think about was drinking their blood.

This was the kind of monster he was—he wasn't going to beat himself up for being born a demon whose brain goes haywire at the sight of blood, the only way he would survive this world was to accept the being he was, embrace it.

"Please, demon, don't hurt her. Take her back, take her back to Serburgh. Tell the King we've failed." The used his last words to plead to the monster under thr bed.

"Tell the king? How stupid do you think I am? May as well hand my own head on silver platter." He slightly smiled imagining his headless self handing over his head.

"Please. Just get her out of the forest."

"I am going to do that but not because you are asking. See, I'm pretty sure your people and mine had scores to settle, I have mine."

He didn't wait for the man to die on him before he could sink his teeth into his neck. Levi had never had blood from a dead being before but he was sure it wasn't as good as when they were still alive.

Before leaving he stripped them naked, clothes were very hard to come by and the dead didn't really need them. He also took the corpse of the two horned Sin. Carried Valerie in his arms and started running.

"Which way?"

[Just run straight on this path, it should take you a day to reach the river that's connecting the two lands. Be very careful Master, two horned Sins have enough sentience to contend with a ten year old child. Killing one will surely bring in more.]

He'd never been out of the forest, this would be his first time.
