As I walk into the room where Shin is supposed to be, I can't see him anywhere. He is probably hiding in the corner of the room again. I look in the direction of where I think he would be sitting, but he doesn't respond at first when I called out his name. After the second time I called him, I can finally see him. He looks pale, shocked and he looks at me as if he had just seen a ghost.
"Ah… Jinsei…? Where the hell where you?!"
I approach him until I stand right infront of him, but he backs away. Just what happened when I was gone?
"What do you mean? I visited a woman. She picked me up from the streets after I collapsed. It's a long story, but she has a message for you."
He shakes his head as if he still can't get what I am talking about.
"You were visiting a woman while letting me starve and worry to death? Jinsei, you were gone for a fucking week!"
My eyes widen in shock as I hear his words. What does he mean? A week? I was only gone for about two days maybe. Was I longer unconscious than I thought…?
"A week…? I thought it's only been two days."
He looks at me and shakes my shoulders like he was insane. Maybe he doesn't believe it's me and not some copy.
"I'm sorry, okay? I didn't know that. I've brought food for you. Don't be mad, we need to talk now about what this lady told me."
He sighs and let go of me. Now that I gave him the food he looks much better. Maybe he was just really hungry. I wonder what he ate in this week. Even for a number zero it should be hard to not eat for this long. He must have eaten at least something.
He sits on the ground and eats the food I've brought him. It's not that much but enough to erase the hunger that has build up in him. I feel guilty for letting him starve for that long, but I can't help it that I was poisened.
I sit next to him and look at his face while he is busy eating. It's pale, but his skin still looks perfectly even and it's almost glowing in the light of the lab room.
"Who is Zyane?"
He stops eating and looks at me with a shocked expression. It looks like he really does know this name.
"How… How do you know about him? And what do you know about him?"
He looks uncomfortable to talk about this subject, but since the lady who picked me up asked me to tell him that this person is in danger, I have to tell it to him.
"Oh before I forget it-"
I give him the bracelet with the white daffodil on it and he looks at me with an even more shocked expression. He rips the bracelet out of my hand as if I was not supposed to touch it in the first place.
"Can you explain to me? Who is Zyane? And what is this bracelet?"
He stays quiet but then sighs and continues to finish his food. He looks at me with an exhausted expression.
"Zyane is… He is dangerous, I'd say. But aren't all number zero Coras dangerous? His ability is one of the most complicated ones, so I'm not sure if you would understand it, even if I explain it to you. Not even I get his ability, but apparently he can travel through minds, without having to worry about time. That means he could talk with a person from houndreds of years ago and the same with the future. He also has some mind controlling stuff but that's too complicated for me."
Traveling through minds…? That sounds oddly familiar to me.
"Does he have blue hair by any chance?"
He nods and looks at me confused.
"How do you know that?"
I am thinking of the boy that appeared in my dreams so many times… His name is Zyane? That's interesting.
"This boy is in danger. He appeared in my dreams. He said strange things about flowers and people but he also said he needs help."
Shin looks at me for a few seconds before he throws the rest of the food against the wall. He looks mad.
"Fuck!"
I look at him, but he doesn't look at me.
"The women told me you should stop playing around and that you need to help him. Does that mean we have to break out earlier now?"
He hesitates but then nods slightly.
"I need to help him he… He is just a kid. He can't stand torture and is emotionally unstable. If he is being tortured wherever he is it might… We can't lose him, he is an important person to me."
I hold back my chuckles, because I can't imagine that someone like Shin has something like friends, or people who are dear to him.
"Alright I understand. Let's break out this weekend. That's still 3 days to go, so we need a plan now. We can save your friend."
He looks at me for a few seconds before he starts to smile a little. It's odd to see him smile.
"You'll help me? Thank you, Jinsei. I'm not sure if I could make it on my own."
"Let's escape… Together."
I hold out my hand to help him stand up. Just like last time, but this time, he takes it and pulls himself up.
