A few days later
The air outside the Elf hideout was crisp and filled with the scent of pine from the forest beyond the building. Yara stepped out into the sunlight, blinking against its brightness, while the dragon followed closely behind, eyes scanning their surroundings.
Gildir, Sylleth, and Farin stood by the entrance waiting for them.
"I trust you are both ready for the journey ahead," Gildir asked as they reached the gates. "It will be tasking, both physically and emotionally." He smiled at them. "Take care of each other."
Yara bowed her head in gratitude, a smile on her face. "Thank you for your care," she said softly. "We are grateful for everything you've done for us."
The dragon stood beside her, his expression unreadable as he watched the elves. Gildir smiled brightly, "Nonsense child, it is my duty to help whenever I can. No need for thanks," he patted her hand gently.
