They have just completed their main course and the servers were efficiently switching the cleared plates with several platters of small bite sized desserts. There were various cake flavors, several servings of tiramisu, a pudding and others.
If there was something they have always agreed on it was the need for dessert.
There was a period of silence as they basked in the glorious and delicious works of art. It was when she was contemplating between a macaron and a cheese cake when she felt Thea's sharp eyes focus on her.
"You said you wanted a lawyer. Nan mentioned you were contemplating finding a new agency but she never mentioned you were going on auditions."
Kiera looked sadly at the rest of the desserts in regret. There was no eating now that her bloodhound of a sister was on the scent. She knew it was what made her an exceptionally good lawyer but she would rather it not be directed at her.
She reached into her tote and took out her tablet and opened the two draft contracts and handed it to Thea.
Thea took her time to read the contracts and Kiera went back to happily enjoying her cake.
Thea finished going over the contracts and suspiciously looked at her younger sister, "Why are there two draft contracts?"
Kiera took a drink of her fizzy water and explained what the Onyx project was about. Once she completed her explanation Thea's frown got even deeper. "You didn't sign an NDA, did you?"
Kiera shook her head, "They didn't ask for me to sign one."
"You'll have to tell them you shared it with your lawyer and financial advisor." Kiera had no doubt that was not a suggestion.
"I'm not sure what a villainess even means." Eileen turned to Thea, "You will need to get more details and make sure they're air-tight."
Thea handed back the tablet, "Send the documents to me. I will need to propose some edits, and forward them to another lawyer in our firm who handles showbusiness contracts. I won't be able to represent you formally due to conflict of interest but I can discuss this with your actual lawyer."
Kiera couldn't help but frown. Her sister was part of one of the biggest and most cut-throat law firms in the entire United Europa, but with the excellence came the price tags. She was sure she won't be able to afford to put a lawyer of that caliber on her payroll.
"You do know I can't afford someone from your firm." And I won't let you pay for it, was left unsaid.
Thea actually rolled her eyes and nudged Eileen who had been enjoying her tiramisu. Eileen reached into her hand bag and passed her a small box. Kiera tentatively reached out to open it and inside was a dainty rose gold bracelet with a single aquamarine stone in the middle.
It was a Credit stone, it was immitted a unique frequency that is connected to unique bank accounts and it was pretty enough to be an accessory. And with this size and hue, it was a high-end credit stone. You needed to have a big enough balance in order to even get your hands on it.
Eileen raised a hand, "Before you start spouting that you don't need our money, I would like to clarify that is your money. When our parents died the insurance payments for both of them was big enough for the three of us to live in comfort for the rest of our lives. Thea and I decided to divide the insurance payments into four equal parts, one each for the three of us and one for the estate. The estate needed annual maintenance payments, salaries for our people there and all the other costs of upkeep and since we have not divided it, it was best if it had its own money so to speak.
"Thea had let me handle her money and well, you really couldn't give consent, so I used a huge chunk of the insurance payments and considered them as capital and went ahead and invested them. You're basically a shareholder of an investment company at this point. Let's just say we all don't really need to work if we don't want to. Though they're not all in liquid assets. I will need to forward you your investment portfolio and I can sit down with you and explain everything."
Eileen pointed at the bracelet, "That is petty cash, an allowance if you will."
Thea sent a smirk her way, "We co-own a sheep farm somewhere. It's where the wool of your wool sweater last Christmas was from."
Kiera stared in horror and awe at her sisters.
'I slaved away for so long in the past life and all this time she had enough money to do whatever I wanted?'
She didn't to know if she wanted to laugh or cry.
