With a low growl and slight twist, Bane let go of Raphael's neck and backed off. 'I promised your mother I would look after you in her stead. That no matter how long it took, I would get out of that godforsaken facility and make sure that you were living properly. Then I find your mate.'
Bane backed away, pacing back and forth as he let Raphael get his feet back under him. Technically, he shouldn't have to do something like that. A true fighter wouldn't let anything distract him from the threat in front of him.
But Raphael had his mother's heart, and Bane couldn't do anything about it. Not that he really wanted to.
Then again, with how he was acting around his mate wasn't something that his mother would have put up with either.
