The doors to the elevator opened with a soft ding on Cell Block A.
I remembered overhearing that I escaped from a cage in Cell Block G, but I didn't know how things were really organized around here. I didn't know if the children and the less violent shifters were placed in the lower cell blocks while those shifters they considered to be more violent and uncontrollable were left up here.
Then again, there was only one way to find out.
Looking both ways to make sure that the coast was clear, I left the safety of the elevator and proceeded to push my cart of food forward.
It was eerily quiet; I couldn't even hear the rustling of bodies or anything like that. Only the sound of breathing made me realize that I was not alone.
The lights in the corridor shone bright, so bright that they practically blinded me, and I was forced to squint.
