Having confirmed the danger, Mrs. Camille didn't stay long and left hurriedly with the reluctant Bellamy. It seemed she intended to use some method to forcibly bring her wayward son back home.
As she mentioned, Saxton always had hired bodyguards with him, former elite members of the Navy SEALs, no less. Mrs. Camille wouldn't allow him to run around unchecked otherwise.
"There you have it, the life of the rich. That kid is so loaded he's getting bored and seeks thrills in Thailand," York muttered to himself, watching Mrs. Camille leave with Bellamy.
Turning his attention back to the tablet Mrs. Camille left behind, he scrolled through more videos of the paranormal live-streaming team. They had more than just the one video featuring Saxton, as Mrs. Camille had downloaded their entire back catalog.
"Thailand..." York thought, recalling the Thai horror films he'd seen in his previous life. Those films always struck a deeper chord of fear in him compared to American horror movies, leaving him afraid to venture into the bathroom at night or sleep without a light on. "Truly terrifying."
One video titled "Ten Ways to See Ghosts" caught his eye, and he clicked on it.
This video didn't feature Saxton but instead focused on the young woman from the previous exorcism video, identified by Mrs. Camille as Saxton's current girlfriend, Amelia Pascale. According to Mrs. Camille's investigation, Amelia was quite wealthy and had cultivated a large streaming team for her newly established platform.
"Rich kids stick together, huh?" York commented to himself, watching Amelia introduce an old-looking bookstore in Thailand.
"Hello everyone, I'm Amelia, your loyal ghost hunter. Today, our team has come to Thailand for a special spiritual experience..."
As York listened to Amelia's introduction and checked the date, he realized this was a recent venture, likely with Saxton in tow.
"Supposedly, this bookstore houses a book that allows one to see 'other things', and by that, I mean spirits or ghosts," Amelia continued, explaining to her audience as she looked towards the ancient bookstore.
"We'll go inside and see if we can find any surprises."
York's attention was held by the video, his previous thought confirmed. "Could it really be the 'Ten Ways to See Ghosts' I'm thinking of? Such a coincidence?"
As the video played, Amelia found the bookstore's owner, a gaunt man with dark circles under his eyes. To York's experienced eye, something was clearly off about him. When Amelia asked about the book, the owner simply pointed to a corner.
"Thank you," Amelia said in fluent Thai, moving towards the indicated corner. The high-quality camera kept the footage steady and immersive.
York almost wanted to stop watching but was too curious to see if his hunch was correct.
"I found it!" Amelia exclaimed, pulling a book from a pile.
The title was in Thai, but with Amelia's explanation, York finally learned its name.
"The translation is a bit awkward, but it's quite direct..."
York's pupils contracted slightly as the memories that had been surfacing in his mind became crystal clear. He uttered the book's name along with Amelia.
"Ten Ways to See Ghosts."
Amelia's voice continued as she flipped through the book. "Don't worry, I'll try to translate for you. But it's best not to try these methods. Respect is crucial. The first method is Thai cup divination, which our audience might be familiar with. The second is 'Ghost at the Crossroads', where you bring three dishes and a soup to a crossroads at midnight and knock on a bowl to see the hungry ghosts..."
York's expression grew solemn as he listened, his initial guess confirmed. "So it really is the 'Ten Ways to See Ghosts'. Is this parallel world a combination of various films and shows from my previous life?"
He'd started to suspect this after encountering familiar scenes in America and now, with the appearance of this notorious Thai book, his suspicions seemed confirmed.
"Childhood fears..." York murmured, watching Amelia introduce the next ghostly method.
"Apply corpse soil to your eyes, which is dirt mixed with corpse oil..."
Hearing this, York began to worry about Saxton's safety. If the 'Ten Ways to See Ghosts' was real, it meant the horrific possibilities of Thai ghost stories could also be real.
"That boy Saxton..."
York's thoughts drifted, and he took a moment to observe Amelia's appearance in the video. A typical Western beauty with blonde hair and blue eyes, her face was delicate.
"Really..." he sighed, feeling a premonition that Saxton was about to encounter trouble. Thailand, with its rich ghost culture, was filled with stories and legends about spirits.
The result of such a rich ghost culture is that there are ghost stories and legends everywhere, some even worshipped as local deities.
With this thought, York's attention returned to the video, where Amelia had just finished her introduction.
"She's not seriously thinking of trying these methods, is she? 'Try and you might die'? There's a real chance of encountering ghosts here."
