Chapter 169 - Chapter 169: The Disk

Boom!

An explosion that seemed to come from nowhere echoed through the skies.

A building as tall as three stories, riddled with holes like a rapidly expanding balloon, burst into a light brighter than the sun, scattering large chunks of debris all around. Fortunately, the surrounding area was quite distant, and most of the debris fell on an empty plot of land.

The area was in chaos, and the massive noise startled all the nearby residents.

Some stared blankly in the direction of the explosion, while others immediately took out their phones to call 119.

However, there was no need for the residents to make any calls, as patrolling officers nearby instinctively called for backup and informed other patrols, driving their police cars quickly towards the scene.

This highlighted the difference between wealthy and poor areas.

In wealthier areas, the response time of patrol officers was always much faster.

Soon, three police cars had already stopped near the building, and several officers got out, holding their guns and cautiously watching their surroundings...

Eventually, the news reached higher authorities, and a mysterious group appeared and quickly took over everything, surrounding the now-ruined building with no-entry tapes.

Elsewhere, a priest dressed in a sacred robe, looking middle-aged, had already brought his team over. He was holding a mobile phone, complaining to the person on the other end.

"Lord Gabriel! That York has overstepped his bounds again! Aren't you going to do something about him?"

The complaint reached a room where Gabriel, who was looking at several documents, calmly asked, "What has York done this time?"

The priest named Augustus finally stopped in front of the ruins, helplessly saying, "He blew up a building in my area."

As he spoke, monks from Augustus's side walked past him towards the ruins.

Hearing about York causing trouble again, Gabriel couldn't help but picture the corresponding robust figure in his mind, almost feeling his laughter.

"This guy blew up another building?"

Gabriel had a headache. Dealing with this reckless priest was truly beyond him.

In the entire church, except for His Grace Gregory, basically, no one could control York. The so-called church rules didn't apply to him at all.

Even if there were complaints and trials, that guy wasn't afraid at all.

With every complaint, he'd grumble, "Worst comes to worst, I'll leave the church." Both Gregory His Grace and he would never agree to that.

With every trial, he'd grumble, "Whoever judges me is ignoring God!" So, whoever wanted his life, he would follow God's command to take theirs.

The reason for his audacity, being able to handle Level VII events alone, plus the fact that most troubles he caused had a reason behind them.

Whether exorcising demons or removing spirits, his every move was more devout than anyone else's, but...

This fanatic's attitude indeed made the old men both love and hate him.

Thinking of this, Gabriel placed the exorcism request documents on the table, saying with a headache, "What caused him to make such a big commotion this time?"

Augustus, the priest, twitched his mouth, thinking of a previous phone call.

"He said he encountered an evil entity in my area while passing by, so he decided to help me exorcise it to prevent me, the priest, from neglecting my duties..."

Hearing the voice from the phone, Gabriel somehow heard York's voice in his ear: I do not share the sky with evil!

"So, what exactly is this evil entity he's talking about?" Gabriel asked helplessly again.

Augustus looked ahead, where his monks were receiving an object from the officials and walking towards him.

Seeing this, Augustus instinctively walked over to meet them, taking the object from the monk's hands. It was a fragment of a mirror with a clear residue of holy power. He replied with a feeling, "Lord Gabriel, it seems to be a mirror..."

"..."

[Task Requirement: Destroy the cursed Leth mirror (Completed)] [Task Reward: +5 attribute points (Issued)]

[...]

Driving a black Ford Raptor, York pulled over to the curb, listening to the prompt in his ear, he couldn't help but yawn.

"Who's cursing me now?"

York rubbed his slightly sore nose, "I haven't really done anything lately, have I?"

The recently completed task, worth only five points, was selectively forgotten by him.

Easing the soreness, York stopped and looked at the virtual window in front of him, continuing to allocate the freshly obtained five attribute points to his overall physique.

The plan to break through one hundred in all areas must not stop.

[Point Allocation Successful] [Overall Physique increased from 79 to 84]

The change from adding five attribute points was indeed noticeable, but still not quite satisfying for him.

It felt like a fitness enthusiast who hadn't finished their routine: muscles not sore, sweat not flowing.

"Close, but no cigar. Still, a boost of several dozen points would feel more substantial."

York shook his head, stepped out of the car, and walked towards Agatha's Antique and Oddity Shop, ready to pick up the toy house and fulfill his promise to Bella.

Unexpectedly, there was an additional customer this time.

From his dress and demeanor, York immediately recognized him as a destitute commoner.

Agatha, a lady with a full head of silver hair, was inspecting an item on the table with a magnifying glass.

This was obviously an antique or supernatural item brought in by the commoner.

York, with his towering height and beyond ordinary eyes, looked down to see the item's design.

It was a disk made from an unknown type of wood, engraved with a pentagram surrounded by intricate patterns and bizarre symbols.

These symbols and patterns, combined with the pentagram, confirmed the nature of this disk.

It was a spirit board.

Agatha, feeling the presence of the newcomer, looked up and saw the approaching priest, smiling gently.

"York, you've come at just the right time."

The man, anxiously waiting, also instinctively turned around to look.

To him, this was a priest more robust than anyone else, his broad robe almost stretched to its limits, though not obviously, but even this was enough to make him feel the powerful muscles barely contained within.

Watching the suddenly appearing priest slowly approach, Nick's pupils slightly contracted, the large and formidable presence making even this veteran of the Vietnam War feel an intense pressure.

The oppressive atmosphere was palpable, and Nick, without making a sound, stepped back, moving to a corner.

"fk! This is a priest?"

He cursed silently in his mind, yet the next second, Nick felt as if the priest had glanced at him, tensing up instantly.
