Chapter 170 - Chapter 170: Unexpected Gains

"Found something good?"

York withdrew his gaze, stopping in front of the counter, looking at the disc.

At the entrance, he hadn't noticed anything, but now up close, the disc still had lingering spiritual energy.

However...

York frowned, sensing a mix of evil demonic power within this residual spiritual energy.

This was a séance board that had summoned demons, even more sinister than ordinary Ouija boards.

"Not really good, just so-so." Agatha lowered her reading glasses, smiled, picked up a candlestick beside her, and handed it to him to see.

York then noticed a candlestick next to the disc, its material even gold, and took it, the touch making him pause.

"No certification mark on the metal, the candlestick's craftsmanship is rough, hardly decorative."

Saying so, Ms. Agatha paused, then added, "However, the melted metal on it is special, derived from a mysterious metal material."

York glanced at the very nervous man beside him, also wondering where this guy had found these items.

To Ms. Agatha, this candlestick might be average, but for exorcists or cults, it was considered a good item.

"This must be Guardian Gold."

Looking at Ms. Agatha's smiling face, York calmly stated.

"It can dispel demonic influences, protecting humans from evil forces, widely used in religious ceremonies and demon-exorcising activities."

"Yes."

Ms. Agatha smiled and nodded, ignoring the seller's expression, and reached out to touch the disc in front of her.

"York, take another look at this. These items are not my area of expertise, but I think you should know the origin of this disc."

"Ms. Agatha, you flatter me."

Though he said so, York gently put down the candlestick and still casually touched it.

"A summoning séance circle, made of golden cypress and sandalwood, aimed at facilitating demon summoning."

York's right hand stopped next to a triangular symbol by the star, looked at the man whose expression was beginning to show fear yet a hint of excitement, and then calmly stated.

"Made with human blood, a typical cult product."

Saying this, York pressed down, and the triangular red paint surface immediately indented.

As he expected, a click sound was heard, and a compartment on the side of the disc popped open, revealing the cover of a book.

"Hm? An unexpected surprise?" Agatha raised her eyebrows in surprise.

"Cultists like this sort of thing." York said calmly, reaching for the book in the compartment, but the man beside him pressed it down before he could pick it up.

"This is mine!"

York looked over, the middle-aged man's eyes showing extreme greed.

"You have no right to touch it!"

Unmoved, York looked towards Ms. Agatha.

Agatha put on her reading glasses again, "If you want a good price, it's best to let go."

Hearing this, Nick looked at the elderly lady, his greed having taken over everything, the previous pressure he felt had vanished.

"Four hundred thousand!"

The asking price suddenly quadrupled, Ms. Agatha's expression remained calm.

"This needs Father York to inspect the goods."

Nick looked between the elderly lady and the priest, pondered for a moment, and retracted his pressing hand.

"Take a look."

York gave the man a meaningful glance, picking up the books one by one.

Taking out the first book, placing it on the disc, Agatha who had just put on her reading glasses immediately read the cover's name.

"Libo·Brilmus·Damonia?"

York then placed the second book on it.

"Libo·Sequuntis·Simvolya."

The third, and last book.

"Libo·Trituis·Pelirips."

After Ms. Agatha finished reading, she looked at York, whose face showed no emotion.

"York, what are these?"

"Biographies, recounting legends between humans and demons, but this is a series."

York picked up the third book, briefly flipped through it, and indeed, the illustrations of humans and demons and the related text proved his words were true.

"Importantly, this series is often regarded as a classic by cults, as to why, it's because of the fourth book [Libo·Quartus·Sakaramendo]."

Saying so, York looked at the increasingly greedy man, continuing to explain.

"Because it contains symbols and spells to trap a certain demon on Earth, and also methods for making a deal. According to records, once a deal is made, the book will self-ignite, only reappearing in the world once the deal is completed..."

York's voice was magnetic, Ms. Agatha nodded along, learning another piece of knowledge.

Nick, however, felt increasingly irritable, cutting him off: "Father! I don't want to hear your damn paranormal lecture, I just want to know if I can get the money!"

Interrupted during his explanation, York didn't mind, but looked towards Ms. Agatha: "Ms. Agatha, may I handle this?"

All signs pointed to this guy possibly having information on a cult base.

He, besides exorcism, enjoyed dealing with such matters the most, as compared to straightforward demons, these cultists were even more evil and vicious, directly targeting the human soul, which he especially disliked.

And such matters were more likely to trigger random tasks than any other.

For him, nothing was more satisfying and exhilarating than using the name of justice to judge these evil fellows.

Ms. Agatha once again lowered her glasses: "Of course, York."

Nick frowned, staring at the priest.

"Don't worry." York smiled calmly, "I have the money to pay the four hundred thousand."

Saying this, before Nick's face showed obvious joy, York continued.

"But this is a set of books, so you're missing the last one."

Nick frowned, "Are you sure there's a fourth book?" He indeed hadn't seen this fourth book.

"There is."

York gave a definite answer, the knowledge in the church's secret chambers had been thoroughly verified; if he said there was, then there definitely was.

Seeing the man's frown deepen, York timely said.

"If you don't know where the fourth book is, there's another way for you to get the four hundred thousand."

Nick suddenly looked up, staring at the priest, he owed too much in high-interest loans, tomorrow was the final deadline, he really needed the money.

"What way?"

York smiled, "Take me to where you found these items, and the four hundred thousand is easily yours."
