Chapter 92 - Chapter 92: Preparation

"The location seems to be here."

Recalling the general direction of another scream, York stopped at a small tent in the corner of the second-floor hallway.

According to what Peggy had said, this tent was a playground she created for the children.

York squatted down, unzipped the tent in the middle, and took out a sacred Bluetooth speaker from his backpack again as he peered inside.

Once inside, just as Peggy had described, it was a playground for the children, with various pieces of furniture scattered all around, dazzling to the eye.

York's gaze swept around, eventually stopping on a rotating carousel with a pattern of a hunchback on it.

"The hunchback? So it's you..."

From the carousel, York sensed the evil within, as well as the malevolent spirits.

Looking at it, York couldn't help but think of the Annabelle and other media vessels in the basement of his house,

"Don't disappoint me."

Staring at the figurative hunchback, a hint of interest flashed in York's eyes, then he placed the sacred Bluetooth speaker in front of the carousel.

After setting it up, York left to head to the next location.

The main room, the secondary rooms, and so on, York's figure spread across every room on the second floor, leaving a sacred Bluetooth speaker in the corner each time he left.

He didn't stop until he placed the last sacred Bluetooth speaker in Janet's room, looking at the Bluetooth speaker on the bed, York patted his hands satisfied.

He had placed a total of thirteen Bluetooth speakers in this house, and tonight he intended to fill the house with God's holy sound!

Thinking this, York glanced at the crosses hanging on all four walls of the room and then left.

Time ticked by.

Soon, it was evening.

That night, led by York, he divided everyone into two groups.

He and Janet stayed in the room where incidents often occurred.

While Ed, Lorraine, and others stayed in the main room with Peggy's family, of course, there had to be a means of alarm, and as for the means of alarm...

Ed stared blankly at the Winchester M1897 shotgun in front of him, completely baffled.

"Gunfire is always more effective than phone calls and shouting because some things can block everything, including phones and voices, but the bullets in this gun can break through all barriers."

Noticing Ed's confusion, York was nonchalant, believing that as an American citizen, Ed would definitely be able to fire the gun; it just depended on whether it was necessary.

"So, Ed, if there's an issue, you must shoot decisively, so I can know something's happened on your side. Of course, it's possible nothing will happen, which would be best."

Hearing this, Ed took a deep breath and didn't refuse, taking the shotgun.

"I understand, Father."

York smiled, turned to Lorraine, and knowing that people with psychic abilities are actually more dangerous in supernatural events because they're often the first to face danger,

"Lorraine, shut down your psychic senses as much as possible, try not to sense anything. I'm afraid you might be dragged into an unknowable place, but the cross I gave you before should be able to resist for a while."

After giving his instructions and looking at Peggy's family standing in the main room, York took out a bottle of holy water he had prepared earlier.

"Just like I did before, remember to pour this water into the humidifier. The vaporized holy water will let you know if something has broken in."

"Okay, Father." Lorraine stared at the transparent liquid in the bottle, silently taking it.

According to her understanding, the reserve of holy water in each church is actually very limited, and she didn't know why the priest in front of her had such a large supply, seemingly inexhaustible.

"Alright." York responded, thought for a moment to ensure nothing was overlooked, then gestured.

"Go inside."

The Warrens exchanged glances, nodded, then walked towards the main room where Peggy's family was heading, soon closing the door behind them according to the plan.

Without York's instructions, they would stay in the main room all night, not coming out regardless of what happened.

Seeing the door closed, York turned to Janet, who had been standing by, her face tense with nerves, and smiled.

"Afraid?"

Janet shook her head.

"Not afraid!"

"Good girl."

York felt a hint of satisfaction, looked at the tent in the corner of the hallway, and turned off the light.

With a click, the light went out, and the hallway instantly became pitch black. The atmosphere on the hallway mysteriously began to change to one of terror in the darkness.

Janet instinctively remembered the footsteps and nursery rhymes that echoed through the hallway every night, shivering uncontrollably and unconsciously moving closer to the tall figure of the priest.

"It's okay, child, I'm here." York said gently, taking out a sacred cross identical to the one Lorraine had and hanging it around Janet's neck.

"Nothing can come close to you."

The cross, endowed with 64 points of sanctity, immediately calmed Janet down. She grasped the cross, looking at the priest and nodded firmly.

"Let's go inside too."

York smiled, leading Janet into her room, then closing the door behind them.

Click, the door shut out everything.

Having Janet sit on the bed, York began to unpack the backpacks in the room one by one.

Not to mention the backpack containing the sacred C4 explosives, the Ryan Bower and the 12.7 SHAK-12 needed to be prepared.

Having tested the SHAK-12's power in the church, and now with it being blessed, the shotgun, which made it convenient to change bullets, was no longer in his consideration. The blessing had freed him from some limitations, and with the SHAK-12's 20-round capacity, a burst of fire could be even more fierce than a shotgun.

York took off his robe, looked at the various technological items in the backpack, and began to gear up.

A belt with 25 rounds of sacred caliber bullets, eight magazines loaded with 12.7mm large-caliber holy bullets, the Ryan Bower already in its holster, six sacred grenades, and more, all equipped on his body.

Janet, who had been sitting on the bed, had her mouth agape. Although she was young, as a child raised in America, she was well aware of what the priest was equipping himself with.

"Guns? And grenades?"

For the first time in her life, Janet's little mind was struck by a new shock.

"That should be enough."

Unaware of Janet's thoughts behind him, York picked up the SHAK-12, checked it over with a few clicks, and after moving around to feel no obstruction and a sense of readiness, excitement and anticipation shone in his eyes.

"Next, it's time for music!"
