Chapter 93 - Chapter 93: The Hunchbackunchbacked Man

Music is made up of various elements like melody, rhythm, and beats.

Although his recitation lacked many elements, he didn't hinder his belief that it was a song, and moreover, a song about you crying while he laughed.

Under Janet's bewildered gaze, York took out his phone and opened the play icon that had been waiting for a long time in the app that connected several Bluetooth speakers.

With one click, as data transferred, the sound immediately came from the Bluetooth speakers placed around.

In an instant, the uniform recitation echoed throughout the house.

"Our Father in heaven,"

"Hallowed be your name,"

"Your kingdom come,"

"Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven."

"Give us this day our daily bread,"

"And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors,"

"..."

In the main room.

Ed found the source of the sound, a Bluetooth speaker, and said to everyone,

"This is the Lord's Prayer, probably arranged by the priest."

Hearing this explanation, the already nervous Peggy family relaxed a bit.

"It's just a pity that all the equipment is with the priest, and we don't know what's happening outside."

Ed shook his head, listening to the unceasing recitation with some regret.

"Ed, the priest must have his reasons," Lorraine consciously came up, grabbing Ed's hand as a gesture of comfort.

Ed gripped back tightly, "Yeah, I understand."

Lorraine returned a gentle smile, her gaze resting on the Bluetooth speaker that kept emitting sound.

For some reason, she always felt that the speaker had a calming power.

"Illusion?"

Lorraine pondered to herself, curiosity in her eyes, but ultimately she obediently followed the priest's orders, continuing to shield her own psychic senses and perceptions.

At the same moment.

York casually tossed aside his phone, picked up the SHAK-12, and listened to the almost inaudible screams beside him, his face wearing a smile.

Sacred energy indeed shows its effects against any monsters, as it represents purity and light, acting as poison to monsters or evil spirits filled with dark energy.

As the recitation reached its climax, the screams outside became more and more intense.

The monster's roar was right where he predicted, near the corner tent.

The screams ebbed and flowed until finally, a crackling noise arose outside, York's expression unchanged, but he looked towards the bed and gently smiled.

"Did you hear that?"

Janet blinked, listening to the nursery rhyme mixed in the recitation, and obediently nodded. This was the nursery rhyme she and her brother Billy often sang to change Billy's stutter, a foreign nursery rhyme she knew by heart.

"There was an old crooked man,"

"Who walked a crooked mile,"

"He found a crooked sixpence,"

"Upon a crooked stile,"

"He bought a crooked cat,"

Seeing this, York, who also heard the nursery rhyme, gave a thumbs up, recognizing her as a promising seed.

At that moment, the nursery rhyme suddenly stopped, replaced by howling, followed by something piercing through the hallway, bang!

"It's out..."

York looked towards the laptop screen, watching the monster using an umbrella to pierce through the floor appear on the monitor, silently checking his SHAK-12 again to make sure there were no issues, then gently smiling at Janet sitting obediently on the bed.

"Child, I'll be back in a bit."

Hearing this, Janet hesitated, whispering,

"Father, can I come with you?"

York raised an eyebrow, initially wanting to refuse, but thinking of that entity still in a haze, he then smiled,

"Come, stay behind me."

Maybe having Janet, the source, by his side could allow him to handle any emergencies promptly.

"Okay!" Janet nodded vigorously, immediately standing up, obediently standing by the priest's side.

York's expression unchanged, carried the SHAK-12 and led Janet, his little tail, towards the door.

At this moment, the noise outside grew louder, with the sound of something piercing through the hallway continuously occurring.

"Roar!!!"

An angry roar sounded, followed by a sudden crack, something was destroyed, the uniform recitation lost a corner, becoming somewhat quieter.

"Did it destroy a Bluetooth speaker?"

York, expressionless, directly turned the doorknob, opening the door.

As the door swiftly opened, everything came into view.

In the dim hallway, a creature towering over two meters tall, almost reaching the ceiling, appeared next to a corner tent.

Its body was thin and hunched, moving somewhat unsteadily, like a skeleton.

Dressed in tattered clothes, wearing a tight red uniform, wrapped tightly like a shadow of death, it held a slender, long umbrella in its hand, its fingers withered and pale, nails long and sharp as blades.

It wore a worn black top hat, the brim low, almost covering its entire face, only its terrifying eyes visible through the gap.

Despite this, York could see the creature's face was covered in deep wrinkles and sagging flesh, giving a withered feel.

All these attributes combined into a monster inherently filled with terror and horror.

Seeing the familiar hunchback suddenly appear before her, Janet hiding behind York also stiffened.

The hunchback seemed to sense someone behind it, turning its crooked body slowly with crackling sounds, seemingly slow but actually fast,

It, holding the umbrella that just destroyed the irritating Bluetooth speaker, took advantage of its long arms and the umbrella's length, stabbing towards York.

Bang! A gust of wind burst forth, the piercing umbrella potentially able to penetrate steel with its force.

"You're quite decisive."

York sighed internally, his expressionless face already pulling the trigger of the SHAK-12.

Boom!!!

The sound of gunfire startled everyone in the main room, a burst of sparks from the SHAK-12's muzzle, the 12.7 sacred bullet instantly met the incoming umbrella tip.

Ordinary bullets couldn't withstand the dark flow from the umbrella tip, but the double buffed 12.7 sacred bullet was different,

Directly blasting through the hunchback's umbrella, aiming for its hand, but the bullet's momentum and power were weakened, stopping just at the umbrella's handle before falling.

The already agitated hunchback, its mouth full of sharp fangs, roared again,

Its inherent dark flow suddenly exploded, shattering the hallway's handrails into pieces, and even the tent behind it was blown against the wall...
