Chapter 41
Narrator Pov:
After the speech made by the top scorer who did not know about it, the head of the disciplinary committee, and the student council president, there were a few things left. Old Olaf went over some stuff, rules and such, that everyone would be expected to follow.
"As said earlier violence is not allowed and will get you detention, suspension, and expulsion depending on severity. By now you all should have gotten your school uniform. We didn't have you wear it today since it is mostly for formal occasions with today as the one exception. Whenever we are going out for school competitions you will be expected to wear it," Old Olaf informs the students.
"The Student Council has white leather styled uniforms and the Disciplinary Committee has a black leather styled uniforms. Those will be worn every day that school is in session and at events. Anyone caught wearing these when they are not part of the council or committee will be at least suspended, and expelled based on severity. The uniform you guys have is brown leather styled. Those are the main components and the are drastically different from traditional viking wear so when at parties they can still be seen and understood that they are there to police and we will know if anyone acts out," Old Olaf informs the students.
"Now, that is most everything on the agenda for today. While today is the first day of school, classes do not start until Thursday, today is Monday. The reason for that is you need time to find your way around campus, the Council and Committee also need time to get set up," Old Olaf continues.
"We then have clubs and more. Note that you need to keep a certain grade for each club, but the school minimum is 70%. Some classes may have it so you need at least 75, 80, 85, 90, or even 95%. Some may need to have you keep those at an average level of like 80 or above, half your classes are 75 and the other half 85 for 80 is an example. But, no matter what, each quarter and progress report you must have the grade above 70, or higher based on the club," Old Olaf reminds the students.
"Now, the teachers will be in their rooms so feel free to explore for today, tomorrow, and the day after. But please do not disrupt the Council or the Committee after this or for today so they can at least get their stuff done. Now I need to have a meeting with some others so if you would please leave that would be much appreciated," Old Olaf finishes.
With that the students get up and leave. The only people who remain are Hiccup, Astrid, Jake, Emma, Hannah, Snotlout, Mia, Fishlegs, Ruffnut, Tuffnut, Hunter, Charlie, Luisa, Ariadne, Elizabeth, Ayana, Halfdan, Rome, and surprisingly Eugene.
"Can I help you Eugene?," Old Olaf asked.
"Why was I not put on the committee nor the council?," He demanded, not showing an ounce of respect.
"We had background checks and yours is not the most solid," Old Olaf informed him.
"But that is illegal, you can't run background checks on minors when they are attending school," Eugene replied.
"Indeed, and we did not, we only did it on those who had applied to join the committee or council," Olaf replied.
"That still makes no sense on why I wasn't put on either one. I had the best background of everyone!," Eugene complained.
"This is exactly why you were not put on it. Being rich as said earlier you had everything given to you and none of it gained. This is an example of that as you are complaining that you did not get a spot that was not even yours to begin with, you only had a chance, it was not 100% confirmed you would be put on," Charlie started.
"Then why wasn't I?," Eugene asked.
"You used to live in a house on Viking avenue. Despite you having excessive wealth, you were never targeted. Instead a house which you always watched from the second floor of yours was. You saw the attack on 700 Viking avenue and did not report it to the police," Charlie responds.
"I wasn't awake at the time!," Eugene tries to argue.
"We have a witness saying you watched the entire thing from 6 in the morning to after the attack. Even saying things over a phone or radio. Even timed to certain actions committed by the invasion team. You were not charged so this was never brought up to court. I was the Student council president last year, and the same this year. I take no chances when I investigate someone, I dig into everything," Charlie informs him.
"Then please explain how they got on the Committee," Eugene asks, gesturing to the others.
"What do you mean? We gave the explanation earlier," Charlie informs him. With that he starts to grit his teeth, with that he just leaves, seeing no end to it.
"I guess he hates us instinctively or something, eh Fury," Jake says to Hiccup.
"Maybe, who knows, he was a bit more composed when he was younger. He is probably being like this due to some recent occurrence," Hiccup responds.
"I'm sorry, but am I missing something. I dove into your backgrounds and I found no connection between you and him," Charlie reveals.
"How should we know, you were the one who checked out backgrounds. We could have just seen him acting over the last week or something. Plus, you expect it to detail everything that happened in our past in a background check?," Emma responds.
"Good point. Now, onto business related to the Council and Committee," Charlie begins.
